My mom and her fiance went out boating like an hour ago and a half an hour ago we just had the biggest wind/thunderstorm I have ever seen in tennessee. I havent been here that long but it was crazy, glass shattered outside, shits broken everywhere, screen doors flew off and they are out on the river somewhere. I am so nervous for her, because it was 101 degrees F today and I told her not to go out because its to fucking hot, but the storm that came was incredible. And now she isnt answering her phone. Could she have gotten blown off the boat and drowned?
>>792876
what is the race of the fiance?
>>792876
I love the what if game!
what if she got blown out of the boat?
what if a leprechaun came down a rainbow and gave her a good rogering?
what if she and her fiancé and another couple were having hot group sex in the middle of the thunderstorm and had a group climax just as a gigantic bolt of lighting fried them all?
>>792878
Both white in their 60's. He is a fucking prick but im worried sick about my mom

Hiking in Norway, does anyone have any experience with this group and its routes? Other good hiking advice for the area also welcome.
Lurking for interest
The Site itself has a route maker. But its all in Norwegian https://english.dnt.no/ Link for the lazy
Look up ut.no
Has a lot of marked trails and recommended tours.
Hey there /out/, mars/hm/allow here
Back on /hm/ we always enjoy cruising and make sure there's always a thread talking about our stories from when there was no grindr
I was just wondering if any of the straight, gay or "straight" guys on this board have ever seen cruisers while hiking in the woods or mountains or have even done some cruising themselves? Share your stories of seeing others or yourself
Never seen it. Seen mattresses and weird stuff tossed in various parks and stuff though which is always rather skeevy. Gay /out/ist here and I've never cruised or anything of the sort. I'm paranoid about disease and weirdos, and to a lesser extent getting arrested and having to register as a sex offender.
I remember picking up trash in my local woods, and in an opening, there were beer bottles scattered everywhere with a tattered bra on the ground. There is also off my coast a lot of trench Islands that were leftover rocks used to dig out canals and boat ramps and I'll commonly find homeless campsites littered with beer bottles and syringes. There could've been loads of gay homeless sex on those islands.

Looking for a medium folding knife for backpacking, trying to keep weight down /k?
>>790040
So actually go out shopping inna store, or are you an online, momma's credit card type fag?
If you are actually sincere, I suggest Big 5 (USA only) sale items. Think "Kershaw" = $20.
What are you, a total knifefag before your first knife?
Buy a fucking knife. ...oh, I get it, no Dad.
>>790040
Forget everything everyone else tells you and get this.
Your goal is to reduce weight and have a good, sharp, reliable knife? This is fucking it. Now you also don't need to carry a heavy-ass leatherman.

200gm isn't light for a pocket carry anon, a Skeletool is ~160gm and significantly bigger plus plenty of 3" folders come in at around 80gm.
I just got accepted into the Canadian military as an infantry man, is does anyone here have any experience in the military, what kind /out/ stuff will I be doing, that's a large reason I applied so I be have a job outdoors where I can see nature and work in it.
I hear Afghanistan is beautiful this time of year
I'm a Canadian infantry soldier too. You'll be doing exs which involve chilling our in the forest. Enjoy sleeping rn because you're not going to on course.
why do Germans love bears so fucking much? they just love every thing about them. they always want to talk about bears, every conversation turns into bears. they just get so fucking excited at just hearing the word "bear". if i hear a german accent i will hear the bear word. in bc and yukon they just want to see bears. camp grounds even have German flags on thier signs with a picture of a bear. saying hey camp here; we have bears. everyone knows they want to see bears. oh bears how do i keep safe? what do i do? oh bears bears! they shit themselves when they see one...

Are there even bears in Germany ? I've never seen any and I live here. Just a shit load of deer and big ass wild boars
>>793328
There are no bears in germany.
I might remember this wrong but there was a wild bear in Bavaria a couple of years ago. Media made a big thing about it because it was the first bear in wilderness since I don't know when.
The bear was shot in the end.
>>793328
Pretty sure op means "beers", that makes much more sense.
having a hard time understanding if this board is for outdoor enthusiasts or transients
Both faggot
>>793096
You really have to make a new thread just for asking this question ?
transients/vagrants/hippies getting their own containment board when?
Hey out, visitor from /k/, here.
I'm getting ready to go to the Fairbanks area if Alaska for a year. Generally, I know how to handle myself outdoors, and have survived just fine in a range of climates, but the extreme cold of the area (As low as -50F) is something I'm not familiar with.
I'm not looking for any product recommendations or anything like that, just wondering if anyone has advice or suggestions on extra equipment or other things to bear in mind when dealing with such significant temperatures. 0-10 degree weather is more my typical experience...

Layers layers layers. Don't let yourself sweat, if you know you'll be exerting yourself take some off, if you know you're going to be stationary for awhile add some (where a well made parka is nice)
Protect everything - Hands, feet, face neck EYES- goggles or sunglasses are a must- snow blindness fucking sucks.
Snow shoes are a must imo. Traditional for fluffy snow on flat terrain and modern style with studs for rolling steep hard terrain.
Wool and wool blends for clothing when you can find them.
A hot tent is a wonderfull thing to...

from personal experience - don't pee the bed. even if you're not a bedwhetter, take precautions just in case.
Going down hill makes my knees hurt and I have a history of knee problems. Thinking about getting some trekking poles.
How much should I spend? Most of them seem absurdly expensive. Is there really any difference besides spending an extra hundred dollars to lose 20 grams of weight?
>>792166
Would a sturdy branch from the woods suffice?
>>792166
>an extra hundred dollars to lose 20 grams of weight?
That is the difference, apart from some really low end ones that are just poorly constructed and can't hold any weight.
Look for ones that have cam style locks rather than twist locks, and if you have a store near you where you can see which grip fits your hand best do that also. If not, buy ones with thick cork grips and shape to your liking.
And my wife had the same complaint you do and poles made it go away....

How cheap is too cheap?
Teacher here. I've never made a campfire before, and I'm going to have to for an outing with a team of teenagers.
It may rain. What I have so far is a spot with stones around embers.
Teach my ass real hard.
>ITT: fires, cooking outdoors, tricks, etc.
here you go
>>791661
I know this is just a reference picture, but don't use aspen unless it is very dead and completely dry. Aspen does not burn well.
If it rains collect tinder from under fallen trees for example
How do you handle people that visit state or national parks and don't follow the rules?
ie, not paying attention to the signs or just being general idiots
>going off trail and falling into boiling hot water and dying in yellow stone
>taking photos up close of fauna and getting attacked
>walking out onto cliffs and either falling or accelerating erosion
Should I be yelling at or confront the people or silently let them get away with it and notify the park Rangers?
>>791501
take pictures.
give pics to rangers.
I can tell you as an outdoors criminal, it's not really safe to confront people that are breaking the rules. They probably know they're doing wrong and aren't going to appreciate you telling them about it.
>>791501
In the past I've always silently let people do their thing leaving it for rangers or otherwise. But that changed this year when a group of 12 off-road RV vehicles drove off the road to park in an alpine area (when they had recently put in a carpark no more than 30m from where they were pulling off the road). Their support vehicle with a trailer also pulled off and drove about 40m off the road into the vegetation before turning back. Then they get out of the car with their dogs and yell "AHHH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL,...

Today I yelled at a group did six Asian tourists that went past the DONOTCLIMB FALLING AND EROSION RISK signs to take fucking selfies. I yelled at them to get the fuck off the weak ground and they proceeded to Chinese chimp out at me threatening to fight me but eventually left after I called the Rangers. Fucking people. I was having such a nice day too until those fuckers decided to be retards. I probably could have been more calm in confronting them but fuck their idiocy. I think the reason I didn't get shanked was the crowd of eight people that gathered behind me in agreement

>>791310
>Should I cut open the fat snek?
Duh.
Have you ever tried some of those storm bluegill/crappie lures for sneks? If that's what they're eating they might be killer.

Which is why I tell new anglers to go with 6lb-10lb mono. Normally a medium setup with 8lb since it is more forgiving than 6lb if they snag some weeds. Losing $60 worth of lures the first time out won't be fun. And I tell em 10lb if they want to to catfish or carp a little bit.
Not sure why you're complaining. Nobody here tells new people to put 40lb braid on their bass fishing setup. I don't even do it, and I'm the...

I was actually pulling in a Zoom Super Fluke, got caught up in the weeds and the snek grabbed the tail when I was pulling it through. That's when I tossed on the Rooster Tail. Inlines always seek to be the best for me.
I need to know for an RPG. Thought this place would be where I needed to go.
What's the range of a portable reliable flashlight? I'm not looking for specific brands, I just need a general number in meters. I don't know the specific details, but it would most likely be an LED light, able to be warn on a harness or hand portable.
On a related and *extremely* important note, I'd like to know if there's some sort of regulation on how powerful they can be: like, can they be bright enough to blind anyone from a certain distance? Or deal permanent damage?
Thanks
>>791066
fag,
theres a lot of variation between a keychain aaa torch and a search and rescue multiple cell 18650 torch.
just say 30-100m range average I don't fucking know.
as for blinding, no. stunning, sure, especially with some of the disorientating strobes on tactical lights.
>>791066
25m for a little bullshit light. 100m for a nice 75-200 dollar high lumen light. But we had 600m lights in the army that mounted on 50 cals.
How does /out/ prevent and treat sunburns while innawoods or fishing on a lake?
I went out on my pontoon boat last Saturday and got second degree burns while on the lake.
>>790943
>prevent
sunscreen
>treat
cold water, antihistamines, let it heal
your pic looks like you walked into some plant you shouldn't have and then got sun exposure.
Prevent them by wearing long trousers, long shirts and wearing a hat with a wide brim.
>>790961
agreed, this looks like the result of giant hogweeed rather than sunburn
