This was a question given to 18 year olds on an exam paper in the UK.
?
This is just a simple calculus problem, is it supposed to be hard?
>>7732149
The point is that the problem involves goats.
>>7732154
This is now a goat thread.
I know this shit is super easy for you guys, but for me it's the worst thing in the world. I didn't learn shit in highschool and now I am applying to college and I'm realizing I needed to know all that shit.
Been watching YT videos and made these assignments. Please tell me if I did good and where I fucked up.

College?
Bedoel je MBO of zo?
>>7732034
Ik heb MBO4 gedaan, daar eigenlijk niets uitgevreten. Nu ik richting het buitenland wil en SAT's moet maken realiseer ik me pas hoeveel kennis ik mis. Dus studeren dan maar.
what the fuck college needs your maths skills to be on par with a 16 year olds
I need some help answering this one. It's quite the conundrum,
Does anyone know if there is a formula for this kind of problem?
It seems this question may be to hard for you all. Troll

That's vandalism, you punk.
I hope you get arrested for your crimes

Even if I write on my desk at home?
>>7731817
I dunno about the desk, but what's up with those windows? Why are they squicle? They almost look like a row of CRT televisions, as if they're playing in the Architect's room from the matrix.
how do I deal with depression /sci/?
specially the fact it make you give up on your hobbies and goals.
are there any good medicine?
>>7731702
I was pretty depressed for 2 months until I started visiting sci regugarly, learning math and forcing myself to watch a ton of pop sci video's. The latter really helps to get all the negative thoughts out.
Just dont go to any other board
>>7731702
Welcome to depression. It'll only get worse. There is no cure. The only escape is suicide. You may go to therapy. You may be prescribed meds. And you may temporarily believe it's getting better. But then depression comes back. The tumor on your soul is growing and nothing can stop it.
Just bee ureself

What's a good math-oriented book on physics?
The classical textbooks (Sears, Halliday) seem very vague compared to a math textbook. I'm looking for a physics textbook written in a comprehensive way like Rudin's Principles.

I get so sick of xkcd and that people feel the need to incessantly repost even the most inane strawman supported "points". Very few comics have any semblance of accuracy, much less utility.
It's a myopic skim-job at best.

and not to forget, a cheap source of income for the author who happens to be a hack.
We also owe him the robot filter.

I am a math major and I do not appreciate you extrapolating from this single event to the general case in such a fashion.

They do if you're at Caltech or MIT. Possibly also Princeton.

Is "is a meme" a meme? e.g. "Mechatronics engineering = meme engineering", "Math = meme degree", etc.
>>7733205
It's a meme that started on /qa/, but it's also not a meme in the sense that it's just vernacular and most people mean that X is shit when they say "X is a meme".
Ex. Mechatronics is a meme because it fails at its intended purpose to be multi-disciplinary or educate it's students in either Mechanical or Electrical engineering, so much so that the majority of mechatronic work and research is still performed by people in the traditional disciplines while mechatronics graduates end...

A meme is just something people repeat without much thought, mathematics is a meme degree because when somebody asks the best degree they just answer mathematics. It is like answering "install gentoo", it doesn't mean that mathematics are bad, just that it has become a meme on /sci/
>>7733220
It's also a meme in the sense that people are trying to "trick" you into doing it by repeatedly recommending it.
Installing Gentoo is a meme because only autists can get through that arduous process and the OS is not worth all that effort and just not a very good Linux distro in general.
Same thing with degrees people are tricked into doing it's not what they thought it would be. So in a sense, meme degrees are shit, but they are also not because some people actually want Gentoo.
/sci/ bros i'm fuckin screwed
>want to do astrophysics but the career path is utter shit
>fine then, let's do medicine, i've always wanted help others. Don't take Biology, MCAT's a struggle, no one wants anything to do with you.
All i'm left in my options is Aerospace Engineering, how good is it? I heard engineering is just rinse and repeat for money.
Get me out of this nightmare please.
>>7733004
Bro, you are gonna work with something your entire life no matter what you choose. Pick the path that brings you joy. If you wanna make ton of money? Go for that career.
If you care about passion then choose your path. That which gives you passion. Money you'll always make. If you're passionate about it, u'll earn more money on it.
So just stop trying to anticipate the future. Just DO IT!
Just choose something you want to.do, man. Did you actually want to do medicine? I'm going to take the test for grad entry soon and I've been studying chemistry and bio every day. My undergraduate was in history. If you really want something then go for it bruh, fucking apply yourself you miserable shit

Why is random drug testing a thing in America
OK SO there's tons of research on microscopic objects and lots of development on equipment to aid us in seeing objects too small to be normally seen
but
Has there ever been any research on objects too LARGE to be seen? Things so large that they can't be normally detected by humans?
>>7732253
Yes. They're called "telescopes."
The only objects that cannot be seen because they are too large are the ones we're inside, and thus miss the forest for the trees. By allowing us to see very far out, we can pick up large-scale structure we wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
This is how we discovered the filamentous voids-and-walls structure of the Universe, and the shape of our own galaxy.
Yes, It´s called astronomy.
whats the evolutionary advantage of cuteness? was it an accident or part of the plan?
I thought evolution was always an accident
>>7731991
What mongoloid told you that
If children weren't cute parents would abandon them the first time they puke or need a diaper change.
Why did everyone start getting really obese when we began advising them not to eat animal fat?
Because vegetables' sole purprose is to accumulate as much energy as possible, and by eating vegetable fats we assimilated that purpose.
