Has /sci/ ever read his works? This man's IQ is literally the highest(max score). The test was for the military, if I remember correctly. He learned words very fast, got himself around physics and meta-physics as soon as he could. There is a collection of his old books and notes on kindle called: "Portable Chris Langan"
Exhibit A in how higher end IQ result differences man mean nothing.
>>7938543
Is this IQ obsession an American thing?
No person has mentioned it here during my education in the UK at a top uni, or in my time at second level.
The attitude towards being smart here is one of 'study more', not 'my IQ is 150 but I'm just lazy lol'. Something's wrong with you faggots

It's just a meme on /sci/ newfriend

Pretty good post for a thread like this actually.

I took a p-values class and my field is entirely irreproducible, what is - is so general that I might as well say "people in general dont like being stabbed"
your typical workload consists of counseling women and men with too much time and money, a victorian era comforter
hey /sci/, how do you effectively take notes from a science or math textbook?
what are some tips/advice you can offer?
take notes
it's effecvtive note taking tactic
>>7943848
This sounds really dumb and corny but do greentext. No, you read that, I am not kidding. Works every time.
>>7943848
rewrite the book
when something is unclear, rewrite it into something clear
do all the exercises
Anyone else feel like the human race is doomed, /sci/?

How is this a science/math thread OP?

don't worry anon. trump will build a wall between the sun and the earth that will shield us from oblivion.
How to make an exoskeleton?
it's just fucking motors attached to a frame and control board. are you really this stupid?
>>7943467
1. Take out your endoskeleton
2. Sticky tape it on your outside
3. ???
4. Profit
Yes I'll admit I am a beginner, and yes I know its motors connected to a frame, and a control board. So if you don't mind giving me sources it would be nice. If you don't wanna help me cool.
What is the theoretical maximal resolution of a mirror?
>>7943339
480p
it doesnt matter because humans can only see at 20 frames per second
2piR
I understand that entropy is always increasing, but I was wondering about something. Suppose you have some bigass gun, and instead of shooting lasers or particles or guns or slugs, it fires a beam of energy that increases the entropy in the target area to the maximum. What would happen? Would it explode, or would it just sorta crumble away into dust?
Picture vaguely related, I just needed to post something.
>>7943148
tl;dr
nice pic
I consider entropy as chaos - directly related to heat. Higher heat - higher entropy. So really you would be heating up/ increasing chaos random motion - you will approach activation energy for reactions - be it burning or oxidation ... pretty much what a laser does in a way - perhaps another anon has a better answer
A black hole has maximal entropy for the volume of space within the event horizon, so you'd be making a black hole.

Tell me why can't teeth heal/regenerate like bones?
>>7942886
Because enamel and bone are not the same.
>>7942891
Why don't we got bone?
>>7942886
the enamel may be made of hydroxyapatite like bone, but it doesn't have osteoblasts and osteoclasts like the bones in your body.
Why? Evolution doesn't care about what is the most effective or what is the most efficient. It just has to work. It's why boys have bellybuttons. Why we have 2 kidneys and only need 1 and why we can live without half our liver. We have so many redundant systems and so do the rest of the little creatures on our planet.
How do you think humans will evolve over the next million years? Is our species changing at all? Will a new species emerge?
I would imagine that over the next millennia we will evolve to look similar to pic related minus the gigantic eyes.
>>7942624
Humans won't evolve further. They are so widespread that any natural selection taking place will quickly fade or not spread at all to a significant percentage of the population. The only way we will 'evolve' is by our own hand, with genetic engineering, and I can't say where that will take us in the future.
I'd like a second opinion.
>>7942634
Well this is complete bullshit, all of it. It might help if you had at least a rudimentary grasp of evolutionary biology.
Uni feels
How do i engage in class and studies?
I feel completely removed/detached in class
(Lectures)i zone out, teacher asks me a question infront of the class i don't have an answer
Always happens, i can do homework at home in the weekends and read my notes
But doing in labs i can't even function...
>>7942505
>i zone out, teacher asks me a question infront of the class i don't have an answer
Shit uni confirmed
I dropped out of college last year. If you are zoning out all of the time and doing bad on assignments, I strongly recommend dropping out as well. I dropped out because I was failing every one of classes and I would get close to breaking down in tears before almost every class. Then I just stopped going to classes. Dropped out soon after. So OP, if you feel like you're going to fail the classes, I'd say just drop out and get it over with. You're wasting time by being there. It's nice to get some time off from school and give yourself a break.
>>7942505
I can see it being a problem in labs, but does it actually matter in lecture? I've had a lot of terrible lecturers and I just ignore them and teach myself while working on assignments.
I'm start: Finance major here but I want to get a math minor and maybe go for engineering in my graduates.
Where should I start to start hammering calculus and some statistics? good textbooks, tutorials, etc.
>>7942420

Fucking worthless
>>7942469
Why would you say that when it's actually not the case
>>7942476
Because /sci/ is full of insecure undergrads

Measure theory is cool, and so are the more abstract parts of functional and harmonic analysis.

Her topology is pretty interesting
Where were you when you realised that there are no particles, only wave functions?
>>7942176
there a fields on most models.
you should jump off your roof and see how your waves displace those of the ground
Physics class, I think.
