How could humans - cousins of apes who are adapted to African savannas, develop such an advanced civilization and even get themselves to space?

Fuck off.

It's evolution baby!!!!

mating.
the essence of every single human accomplishment lies in mans desire to mate.

What explodes when mixed with table salt?
TNT and fire.
Snails.

2. Throw pure sodium into water
Can we have a thread about NASA failures and the toxic culture that precipitated them?
I was reading up on the Columbia disaster last night and I can't believe no one went to jail over this.
>Space shuttle Columbia takes off
>piece of foam insulation breaks off and damages the left wing
>NASA analysts insist the damage is nothing serious
>mission proceeds
>evidence from computer modelling shows that it...

Do you actually take the trouble to read up on the Columbia disaster every night before you make this thread again?
>shuttle explodes over Texas
over Palestine, TX
as planned

Dude, again?
Why are women so small and weak? I mean shouldnt the sex which is taking care of the infants and is crucial for their development also be the stronger one?
>>7701028
I don't know why exactly, but males being larger suggests that in the wild males would have multiple females.
I guess it's just something that happens in nature.
>>7701028
It's not like that in all species. Female spiders are stronger etc.
sup /sci/ atm im writing some shit for school, and i need to describe von neumanns intervention, se pic. What does it excatly describe? I have a good idea but im not totally sure.
Thx man
Tell us about your good idea.

>Tell us about your good idea.
Alright, so PSI tells us the wave function. Its dependent on what number "n" is, and "n" describes a position an atom can have. Cn is dependent on n aswell, as Cn describes how high chance the "n"-state has to be taken, after the Atom's superposition colapses. Lets consinder that the superposition of the atom already colapsed, therefore the wavefunction also colapses, because the function no longer is a function but a...

Did you mean
[eqn]\left\vert n \right\rangle [/eqn] is a stationary state.
[eqn]\vert C_n \vert ^2[/eqn] gives the probability to find particle in state [math]n[/math]
and [eqn]\left \vert \psi \right\rangle[/eqn] is a superposition of all stationary states?
I'm going to post some puzzles I struggled with or found challenging. I think /sci/ will like them.
Post your dumb as shit questions ITT
Is a Nuclear Physics PhD a waste of time?
>>7700915
what is your long term project? The answer is irrelevant if we don't know what you want to do with it.
>>7700915
why the fuck are you asking us? If you are at a point in your life where a nuclear physics PhD is a viable idea than you would know much better than we would.
honestly PhDs in specific fields which prepare you for research in those fields are quite obviously worth it if thats what you wanna do
What's a Banach Space?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n12bfWTw9Hk
A Banach space is a complete normed space.
For example the real numbers with the absolute value function as norm or the space of continuous functions from the interval [a,b] to R with the supremum norm.
>>7700831
What the fuck is a norm?

A function from a vector space V into the real mumbers such that for all scalars r and all vectors v,w we have
|v| >= 0
|v| = 0 iff v=0
|rv| = |r| |v|
|v + w| <= |v| + |w|

let's be honest here.

I see the green text but cant tell what your implying. Can you be a bit more frank?

Oh, Jesus's father wasn't himself. Humans don't reproduce asexually.
In our group it is common to place some meaningful quote somewhere in the front of the PhD thesis.
Did you also put some quote in your thesis? If you are still writing, will you put one inside?
>>7700733
No, that's pretentious as fuck.
>>7700733
I did.

Someone asks for Empiricism to come to /sci/ and all the NEET faux-STEM wannabes start going full autist.
"Proof? Fuck you take your meds lololol!"
"Proof is for stupid people! Citations aren't allowed, they're all stupid take your meds lololol!"
Seriously?
None of you are for real.
You cannot reject Empiricism and be /sci/.
Science IS Empiricism.
take your meds
Someone asks for taking your meds and all the schizo faux-intellectual wannabes start going full autist.
"Meds? Fuck you im not crazy lololol"
"Ad hominem! Fallacy! Bulverism lololol!"
Seriously?
None of you are for real.
You cannot reject memes and be you.
You ARE a meme.
they have all become politicized and egotistical
you can not tell egotists that self serving assumptions and character assassination is illegitimate
asking generation y to show their proof is like challenging them personally

New /sci/ rules:
1.) Must provide citations
2.) Must not use any fallacies or biases
3.) Must not attack people under any circumstances, only their arguments
4.) Refutations require the pointing out of false equivalences
This is math and science only.
Opinions are wrong and belong in /pol/

1.) Take your meds.
>>7700623
If you disagree with these rules, then you're psychotic by definition.
Keep up with the immature personal attacks.
It's all truly stupid people have.
I however have Epistemology and Empiricism.
sounds a bit harsh but kinda alright
Will I still get banned if I post a specific math problem I'm needing help with, if it's not homework?
No, not as long as it isn't obviously homework, e.g. "Hey /sci/ what's the answer to this question? Thanks". Post it.
>>7700569
If it's highschool tier then obviously yes.
I don't undrstand why people here suddenly came up with that hate for homework. It's perfectly alrught to help others with homework. Just make it clear that it is homework in the OP, and people can give hints or show the general direction or explain how it's done. Giving just the solutions without challenges for the student should be banned, not asking for it.
