Why isn't education being directed toward 100% STEM subjects? Its the only field that creates jobs and furthers humanity's technological goals.

As much as I hate to admit it, the West, and the US in particular, has a large demand for non-STEM fields. American culture essentially our biggest export, and without marketing and business majors, any engineering firm is going to fall behind the competition.

That said, success in non-STEM fields depends a lot more on nepotism, random luck, and other bullshit than STEM fields, since what we add to a business is easily quantifiable.

I'm struggling to choose between either becoming a chemical engineer or a bio-medical. Both pay well so that's not an issue. I guess I'd just like more information about them or other types of similar engineering. Thanks all

biomedical is a meme
civil, chemical, mechanical, or electrical, if you actually want transferable skills for a variety of induatries. worst thing you can do is only make yourself available to one or two.
>>
Check job market, watch some introductory lectures on the subjects

Why do you say that, isn't there a lot of things that you can branch into with bio medical

>tfw you fell for the Computer Science meme

Yeah I have a decent job now (for being 24) but half of my coworkers just have their associates/no credentials at all. I could have done higher math, engineering, or really any science and just learned CS shit on the side. I could have learned something really specific and cool and worked with real intellectuals instead of Indians, Chinese people and fat manchildren.

Underage of /sci/, learn from my mistake. Get a respectable major. Just independently learn CS.

bzzz wrong.

because that is the completely arbitrary number in degrees celsius assigned to the physical temperature at which water boils at sea level, more or less.

Hello, /pol/. I posted in a thread recently where the topic of discussion was intelligence and intelligence tests and I am here to answer questions about them.

I am an M in Mensa and I have lead a group in the Southeast region of the United States for a year now since my immigration and graduation from a school here.

If you have any questions about IQ, IQ tests, IQ and where it comes from or just questions about Mensa do not be afraid to ask.

If you are interested in joining Mensa you will need to contact us through your nation's representative (www.mensa.org/contact-us) Be prepared to submit an IQ test showing an IQ within the top 2% of IQs and proof that the test was administered properly.

Thanks.

Ok /sci/, the year is 2016 and the sun is going to collide with the earth. Luckily you've been selected to live in a bunker with enough food/water/air for 20 years (about how long the earth would be uninhabitable) after which you will emerge and you'll be charged with helping to rebuild society.

You can take 2 books containing all known scientific discoveries of any given subject, the rest will be lost, what do you take and why?

If you take your book on astrophysics, you would notice that it's impossible for anyone on Earth to survive a collision with the sun inside a bunker.

That being said, Medicine is a given. And maybe Engineering? I don't know.

Why did non-aquatic animals evolve to not being able to drink salt water?
>All living organisms need water
>sea water is the most abundant

>sea water is the most abundant
globally, but necessarily locally
if you live in an environment where most of the water comes from rain and rivers you drink that
>>
>>7719006
Yeah but there are more beaches than there are rivers and lakes .So salt water should be somewhat more accessible atleast not in the mainland.
>>
>>7719039
>atleast not in the mainland.
There are lots of creature in beaches that can drink salt water, like crabs and such.
Most land animals spent at least part of their evolutionary history inland, and thus became dependent on fresh water.

Sup human biology friends.

PLEASE HELP ME.

I am physically unable to burp and it causes pressure and pain in my stomach and chest.
It feels like my stomach exist even trying to digest my food.

I've had endoscopies, barium studies and a bunch of other shit done and absolutely nothing helps.

It started happening 2 years ago and has gotten progressively worse.

What could be causing this?

-bacterial infection paralyzing the stomach?

-some mechanical problem with the flap in my stomach that lets air out?

WHAT?!!?!?!

I also have a hiatus hernia, but that usually doesn't cause symptoms like this.

Oh, you guys want my E-s-d barium images?

Please help!!!
