How does /sci/ explain the feeling of being watched without psi?
I'm normally pretty skeptical, but I've experienced this shit too many times in my life to write it off completely.

Schizo

I can explain the feeling that "the feeling of being watched" is somehow significant: Confirmation bias, lack of awareness of the subconscious, and stupidity

Hello /sci/
i have a question about biology/genetics/bloodtypes
so, if the father of a child has the bloodtype BB, so both allels are coding for the B bloodtype, and the mother has the bloodtype 00 is it somehow possible, that the child also has the blootype 00? I know that if you apply mendels rules it should not be possible and every child of the two should be B0, thereby B by phenotype, but is there any way this could still happen?
tl;dr: can a BB bloodtype and a 00 bloodtype have a 00 bloodtype child?
>>7692694
No, barring some rare exceptions that child would always be BO, or Type B.
However, blood if there is a mutation in the sperm cell which fertilises the egg, and produces the child, which results in a loss of the B allele, or somehow turns the B allele into the O allele, then the child would be OO, or Type O.

thanks
can you tell me how likely that is to happen at all?
How does /sci/ feel about Climate Change/Global Warming?
Is it bullshit?
no, people that think that Global Warming is bullshit are bullshit
yes, people that think that Global Warming isn't bullshit are bullshit
Bullshit!
What kind of music does /sci/ like to listen to?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p51c776ObI
To add to that, what do you think gives music the ability to captivate and embrace humanity from all different cultures and birthplaces?
>>7692651
>To add to that, what do you think gives music the ability to captivate and embrace humanity from all different cultures and birthplaces?
what a dumb fucking question. you act like music is some abstract concept we discovered and are encapsulated by. we fucking make music that we think sounds good, and then other people like it. thats why we like music, because we make it to sound good. unless you're the kind of faggot that says he likes noise to be different and strange

Can anyone explain to me if the Earth is spinning with constant speed, howcome 1: the flight times of jets flying from east to west, and from west to east are almost equal; 2:if you jump and stay one second in the air, you are not immidiatly killed by an approaching building, spinning with earth's speed?
>inb4 retard
But yes i want to learn the scientific side of the matter.
Because you are already moving the exact same speed as the earth is spinning so if you jump you would still already be moving in the same direction as the earth.
momentum is conserved
>>7691937
Relative to you earth is not moving.
Reminder that controls engineering is best engineering.
>>7691855
You will find no disagreement with me. Arguably the most useful modern engineering developed.
A pity it's being formalised and raped of it's virgin beauty.
What about mechatronics mang?
All right /sci/entists? Who here is able to do basic set theory? And who is just here to post memes?
Prove that if X has a smaller (possibly infinite) cardinality than Y, then [math]2^X[/math] has a smaller cardinality than [math]2^Y[/math].
Do your own homework.
>>7691670
Just create a bijection between the smaller powerset and some strict subset of the larger powerset.
>>7691685
No because an infinite set can be bijective to a strict subset of itself.
hey /sci/
mech eng student here.
just finished calc3, de, and phy2 this semester and
start actual engineering school next semester.
the load was kind of heavy taking those three...
does it get any easier?
i'm fucking tired.
>>7691459
Physics/Early Math are cheesecake compared to engineering.
>>7691468
early math?
calculus 3 and de are not 'early' anything lol.
the math in engineering is just the applies knowledge
from calc 1,2,3 and phy 1,2.
shaddufuqup.
>>7691459
Jeepers Creepers lad, I took those three along with Organic Chemistry and Lab. You're fucked if that was a heavy load. My advice is to take it easy and take only one or two heavy/core engineering classes per semester, and then two or three of the easier ones ("Communication for Engineers", Computational Methods, Thermo, etc.).
How come derivatives always use h as the variable? Every book I've seen always has the same formula using h in the proof. Is there something special about h? Why not y or z instead?
[math]f(c)' = \lim_{h -> 0} \frac{f(h+c) - f(c)}{h}[/math]
>Is there something special about h?
No.
>Why not y or z instead?
It is convention. Just like functions are often called f and vector spaces V.
>>7691423
>How come derivatives always use h as the variable
Fermat used "e"
Descartes use tangent circles to find the normal
Leibniz used dx and dy
Newton used "o" and fluxions
>>7691423
On the picture... why does an investor think he can make money off a derivative?
First time on /sci/ so be gentle, I'm trying to figure out specs for a hypothetical engine, I've only learned about volumetric efficiency a couple hours ago so if I'm doing something wrong let me know.
So this is what I'm coming up with
targeted Horsepower: 800 at 8000 rpm
displacement: 311.8 ci
thermal efficiency: .25
Fuel flow: 428.48 pounds per hour
Brake specific fuel consumption: .5356
Mass airflow: 5,356 pph
Required airflow: 1166.75
Required volumetric efficiency: 1.616 (161.6%)
Manifold atmospheric pressure: 48.3532133813"...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Any advice or ideas are appreciated, or if there's a better board for this just let me know
can someone redpill me on the double slit experiment? My professor said that it was because human consciousness was actually influencing the particles. When I asked him if it was just that the act of measuring the particles necessarily acted on them he said that was wrong. Is human consciousness really affecting reality on a quantum level? seems to retarded to be true, but I don't know enough about quantum physics to have a valid opinion.

China, UK, America, and others including many of the biggest people in the field will be speaking for 3 days. Includes a panel for SJW to discuss ethics of it as well (recommended not to watch that part).
MIT tech review's latest article on the subject including some mentions of the summit.

Is a career in physics really worthy? is it really that hard to get a job after?
>>7691149
>Is a career in physics really worthy?
If you love physics. If you want money/fame, etc. there are better ways to go about it.
>is it really that hard to get a job after?
If you want to be a professor, yes. Especially in certain subfields. But there are tons of places that employ physicists, you definitely won't be without a nice paying job.
>>7691170
Thanks senpai
>>7691149
do physics 1,2,3 and then pick electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, etc
you can always get a BS MS in EE,etc then PhD in Physics
