Do you guys know of a full length zipper (around foot box), 750+ down fill, double zippered (to leave footbox open but seal the rest like a burrito) mummy bags?
I really like the EE Revelation, but I like the idea of having a hood, not a helmet. Pic related.
Why would they hire a hoodlum for their photoshoot?

Sup /b/. I'm in between apartments in a city where I know nobody. I'll be homeless for about a month before I can move back 3 states away. I am very much stuck here though for the time being, so I wanna know about things like where to sleep, what and where to eat, where I can hang out during the day with WiFi etc.
Any tips on being homeless?
Oh yeah it says /b/ in my post because I tried there and they re-directed me here and I just copy and pasted it. So... don't worry bout that
>>719288
I am worried about that.
>>719283
dumpster diving is a great way to get food, just don't eat anything rotten
Thinking about setting up a little /out/ store on the side. What kind of stuff would you want to see on it? What kind of stuff would you buy?
>inb4 gear arguments
Nothing but hammocks and tarp
>>716489
I still say those little Victorionox knives or cheap multitools with something /out/ engraved on them would be cool. Or an /out/ engraved mora.
Stickers too.
>>716489
I would buy /out/ related diy material like evazote sheets or carbon felt.
Everyone knows that any outdoorsman worth his salt has a green underpantsu.
>Post pictures and discuss green underpantsus.
Why are they so good? Why are they so perfect for the outdoors? Why is the green underpantsu the best item of outdoors clothing ever to be invented?

I've got three pairs of Underarmor boxer-briefs that are my summer active underwear, as they're moisture wicking and prevent monkey butt.
anyone here from Orange, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara or LA counties?
I'm looking for suggestions on a long distance trail in the Angeles, SB and Los Padres national forests. Has anyone paid a vist to the condor trail?
Im looking to had off for 3-4 days. thanks guys
Condor trail? You mean that one that's not even complete yet, with miles of bushwhacking?
There's the Silver Moccasin trail in the San Gabs, it's part of the PCT. Also the Backbone Trail in the Santa Monica mountains (not to be confused with Devil's backbone on Baldy or North Backbone).
Mt. Baldy loop, 3 Ts, and Cucamonga peak are all fantastic day hikes. San G will take about 8-10 hours. San Jacinto is also a great day hike. If you're feeling up to you, do the 3 peaks challenge, Mt. Baldy, San G, and San Jacinto in one day.

>Silver Moccasin trail
I went to the Arcadia district office to ask about this one, but the volunteer there claimed to not know anything about it, denied its existence, and was generally super not-helpful
where did you start, Chantry flats? did you end at Vincent Gap near wrightwood?
whats the water situation?
>Backbone Trail
just checked it out. where did you start for this one?

Finally succumbed to you memetastic faggots and bought a Mora
>pic related
Post your new gear, especially /out/ inspired purchases
i also bought a mora, same one but the neon green
>>705922
OP I also recently bought into the Mora meme. Fantastic for the price. Haven't taken it to the field yet, but been cutting shit and carving with it. Nice knife.
Faggot here, my grandpa always told me burning green shit like leaves or pine needles keeps bugs and ticks away... Any truth to it?
... smoke keeps bugs away, yes.
It also makes it hard to breathe.
>>717971
I see..
A smokey fire will keep flying pests away because they don't like to breath smoke.
It won't do shit to keep ticks and crawling pests away.

Explain to me why gardening is so meditative.
How much of our supermarket food is actually still fertile? I know Monsanto seed grow only once, any fruit grown from it will not germinate. But is that all industrial fruit and veggies, or just part? Is all industrial seed infertile? Do I have to go to a farmer's market to find seeds that will keep growing for generations to come? Or are farmer's markets just the same industrial production?
Post your palace
Looks nice OP, real cozy.
I would probably never do this because I don't have private land or acces to areas in which making such shelters wouldn't be a form of littering.

I really hope that is all dead fall or that the person who chopped all those trees down turned them all into woodworking stuff that isn't going to just rot in the middle of the forest.
Fishing is the main priority. Long needlenose priors for getting them hooks.
But something great for everything else. Heard great things about the Leatherman Wave, but would love other suggestions.
>>719372
*pliers
I had the Supertool C300 and C300 EOD, but the wave is still my fav'. To me what makes it btter are the blades that you can open one handed.
Oh and there's this black version that look so fucking badass too.
Oh and it's (more or less) cheap too, which is always nice.
Oh and last but not least, it's a Leatherman.
>>719372
I use the rebar, I really just carry it for the saw and the awl, not sure what would be good for fishing
Sup, /out/, I need some help.
I'm taking a girl out on our first date(my first ever) and we're gonna go fishing on friday. I know she likes fishing, but I've not fished since I was a kid. I already bought a rod and picked out a nice place at the local state park. I know how to fish, as far as putting bait on the hook and actually catching one, but other than that I'm going in completely blind. All I have is a rod with some line in it(I don't think it even came with a hook). I'm also planning on bringing a cooler so we can have a little picnic....

Shameless self-bump
>>719246
one theres no need to really bump on /out/ unless youre on page 6 or below, two just take it easy being anxious about it wont help, it will only make things worse, just take it easy, so what if ou dont catch anything, as long as you havent told her youre an expert its no big deal maybe she will teach you some shit
>>719240
Just be honest about how little you know, and make some jokes at your expense if you screw up. Nothing is worse than someone who pretends to be something they are not e.g. a good fisherman
Hows hitchhiking through europe?
How much time and money did u spend for it ?

Bug Out Bags
Anything I seem to be missing?
I have a get home bag which only contains essentials but could be made to stretch for about a week and a half. main issue I found when trying to camp with just my bag is usually issues with water. Being able to purify it at least 3 different ways is a necessity. and dont expect to be remotely comfortable if you dont have a bottle that holds a decent amount of liquid. having to go back to your water source every hour or so is a pain in the ass.
>>719085
You don't need more stuff, you need less.
I'll bite.
You don't need a limb saw and the chain saw. Your rain poncho could be incorporated into your shelter to cut down on the supplies needed for shelter. A USB fan? No, ask me how I know this thread is bait. You don't need a one way radio if your 2 way will cover the same bands. You don't need an extra roll of cordage.
2 much stuff/10
If you're really that attached to this stuff, go cache it at your bug out location.
No gun. No firestarter. No knife.
>>719085
>USB Fan (For Comfort)
Since when was a Bug Out meant to be comfortable?
i like to have a celebratory wank to show that mountain who's boss and that i conquered it

Hi /out/,
I want to go on a solo trip into some deep woods for a weekend but I'm afraid of accidents that could become lethal due to being alone, like snapping a leg or encountering a mountain lion. What sort of items do you guys pack to make your solo adventures a little safer?
>>718880
If you're particularly worried about getting injured or lost I'd recommend renting a Personal Locator Beacon like pic related.
Also make sure that someone knows where you are going and when you're expected back. Make sure YOU know where you are going, have a detailed map of the area and a compass, make sure you know where water sources are and do some advance research on wildlife activity in the area. A phone call or email to the pertinent ranger station/management office will get you a lot of...

Keep in mind that you're more likely to get into a lethal car accident on the way to your campsite/trailhead than you are to die while /out/.
Like >>719128 said though: a PLB along with telling other people roughly where you're going and when you're expecting to be back are about the best things you can do when going /out/ alone.
