Does this look right to any of you?
How does one differentiate with respect to an operator?
>>7588366
>Notation. Same as when you differentiate with respect to a vector.
ahh okay, just looked it up
but then either both vecors should be transposed, or none, since the tensor product of two vectors is defined as
(x\otimes y)(z) := \left \langle y,z \right \rangle x
It basically depends, if the matrix derivatives operates on the vector space or it's dual
/sci/ what happens if we divide by zero?

You get an F on your test.
>>7588218
You get infinity
do you have intellectual role models?
mine are:
-terence mckenna
-jaggi vasudev, commonly known as "sadhguru"
-timothy leary
-alan watts
-carl jung
-joseph campbell

You'll get a few
That feel when you start looking at calculus in a very logical way instead of a progression of steps to get the right answer.
>inb4 underage&banned
Don't worry, once you reach calc II, you'll break down and revert to the "progression of steps" mentality once again.
>Also underageb&
Banach space.

I don't know why everyone hates on Calc II, in my experience it was the most fun of the three basic calculus classes. It was a bit harder than Calc I but it wasn't nearly as boring to study.
It's a longshot....but are there any other synthetic organic chemists stuck in industry?
How have your hopes been crushed? Do you still have any dreams?
>>7588060
>stuck in industry
Yeah whatever, what are you like 80 grand? Have some kids and a nice retirement.
I'm applying to phd programs in synthetic organic for next fall. Why do you hate it?
Also
>stuck in industry
From what I've read there are a lot of people who would literally kill to be "stuck in industry"
Is this true?
evolution related science thread
yes its real, they're voting for trump
>>7587906
They're also learning ninjitsu.
>>7587906
They're not mole people, not even close.
The idea of some other life evolving here and achieving similar awareness/intelligence to us is interesting though.
I just watched Hawking's Into the Universe, any other good science documentaries?

Congratulations.
You just watched the scientific equivalent of the kardashians.

I told Monty Hall I'm sticking with my original door and won.

last time i heard this meme I was 15 and on reddit
I want to study a Master in science about Brain and Mind in Germany and that shit it's in English and my first language is Spanish because i'm from the third world.
>can you help me posting books about neurophysiology, neuropsychology or any starter text book?
I want to start reading about it in English before I start my master.
thanx a lot guys. don't let me die

who /premed/ here
everyone
*cue laugh track*
but no, seriously, /sci/ is mostly a haven for the people who enjoy solving problems using quantitative hard sciences like chem, physics, and math. biology and medicine is just horrifyingly brute memorization.
I make this generalization about premeds, and you, because its something like 85-90% are biology and psych majors, the rest are biochem and chemistry. anything else is pretty much negligible. If you are already in a hard science with plans to enter med school, you are setting yourself up for a degree in memorizing concepts. i...

I thought this was simply a meme but these people should never be doctors

I'm premed and a physics major, it's just as interesting to me tbh, still problem solving involved connecting symptoms finding solutions
I heard on some shitty tumblr post that there is an enzyme that accelerates the rate on an chemical reaction from (something like) 10000 yrs to 0.01 seconds. Anyone know anything about this?
OMP decarboxylase you dumb faggot
>To put this in perspective, a reaction that would take 78 million years in the absence of enzyme takes 18 milliseconds when it is enzyme catalyzed.

God truly is great.
What are your thoughts on dual majoring?
Does it end up being worth it in the end or make you more marketable to employers?
Anyone here who has dual majored, have you tried hang yourself?

Well I triple majored and am on the verge of suicide but that isn't really relevant to this thread
>>7587287
better off just getting the masters m8.
How likely is it that petroleum is produced without life?
It is my understanding that there are markers in the petroleum that insinuate it was once organic life, but now a few people in my group of friends are convinced about abiogenesis. Just curious if any of you have any experience with these hypotheses.
How the fuck else would it be formed?
>>7587257
A few people in your group of friends are uneducated morons.
Hello my friends. I have a problem for you today.
the reciperocal pythagorean identity is the equation:
1/(a^2) + 1/(b^2) = 1/(c^2)
Try finding the smallest solution for positive integers, basically the smallest sum of the numbers a,b, and c.
No cheating! The answers of course can be found, but a rigourous method for finding it is the challenge. Any monkey could make a code or guess and check it.
>>7587160
Please go away and do your homework yourself.
Really, it's not even that hard. Just literally check Wikipedia.
>>7587170
This is certainly not my homework, it was a problem for a math competition I supervised.
>>7587160
a=0
b=0
c=0
