I could also ask a question, but I doubt anyone could really help me yet, and I don't want to bother the irc people too much. But here it goes:
Haskell already has exponential objects (a->b), and in fact the object map can even be used as function (->) in Haskell. In pic related, ":t" and ":k" is the quiery for the type or kind. "*" is basic kind, or, if you want, the category Hask of Haskell types, I've actually started to write down the semantics of it in (1)....

Oh, and
\u => f
is
[math]\lambda u.\, f[/math]
in Idris.
In Haskell you have the function
(->)
so that
(->) a b
or
a->b
is
[math]hom(a,b)[/math],
while in Idris you have to write
\a,b => a->b
or
[math]\lambda a.\, \lambda b.\, hom(a,b)[/math]
because they use a->b also for dependent types [math] \prod_{u:a} b(u) [/math], i.e. the composition of -> isn't so simple in general. And the lambdas make use b can't depend on a.
Try to disprove that ZFC is coherent within the possibilities of ZFC.
Pro-tip : you can't.
>ITT : we pretend to have broken mathematics.
Congrats on reading Godel OP, he's cool and smart. The next step to enlightenment is realizing that math and science is nebulous and socially constructed - which doesn't mean it isn't real in some sense, money is a social construct and it definitely exists, but it isn't some perfect crystalline edifice of pure reason.

Maybe you should read Foucault's "The order of things" and a bit of Popper. (Reasonable) Modern science doesn't claim being an immovable monolith of pure truth.
>>8007238
I have read Foucault! He's a very smart dude.
Unfortunately scientism is really embedded in modern culture and rationalist epistemologies are far from uncommon.
We can heat things up to absolutely ridiculous and unbearable heat. Hot enough where if there's anything that exists, we can melt it or burn it.
Can we lower the temperature this way? Has anyone ever managed to make something thousands of degrees 'cold'?
Just.. remove the heat from a space until there's just nothing in it? Anti-heat?
Yes we put ice packs on it until it is coldness enough
>>8006801
We do, it's used in fridges, car engines, etc.
But you need something colder than 0 K otherwise there's no temperature gradient
The lowest temperature we can get is 0 Kelvin wich we never reached so far...

Is there any music that helps you while studying or at least doesn't decrease you focus? I like listening to music while studying because I lose more the sight of time and get distracted less by the outerworld but with many songs albums genres etc. the music ends up being almost as distracting as the outer world
I personally listen to Ambient music when I need to get work done.
Here are some example tracks:

Hopefully these work for you anon. Putting a track from this into pandora will gen up a pretty decent station, from my experience.

Atmospheric anything does it for me. Try U137
I accept that science has provided an objectively plausible account of my origin and all of my behaviour. There are no holes in this account at all.
But I already had a datum: "I am a mind that freely makes choices." This datum was the first piece of information I ever had, and it is the only thing that cannot be false.
So, the objective scientific account of me is wrong. But I respect the work that went into it. And nobody other than me has a reason to deny it.
>>8023615
>But I already had a datum: "I am a mind that freely makes choices." This datum was the first piece of information I ever had, and it is the only thing that cannot be false.
If it were false, you'd never know and you'd never be able to prove it either way.
>>8023646
>If it were false, you'd never know
It isn't false. It is presented to me as a raw fact, it isn't in the category of things that are falsifiable.
>>8023649
>It is presented to me as a raw fact, it isn't in the category of things that are falsifiable.
You're confusing fact with perception. Worse still, you're trying to analyse a system with the system itself, a methodology incapable of objectivity.

Can we draw some connections or it's not worth discussing?
no.
Pyramids: literally the easiest architecture.
Stonehenge: most likely unrelated.

Is my dentist lying to me when they say the only way to fix my cavities is to empty my wallet so they can drill holes in them and put in fillings?
I've read about various methods to cure cavities through vitamin supplements, diet, and special remineralizing toothpaste, but I'm hesitant to go out and buy the stuff as it generally feels like a scam.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has some experience with this kind of thing, am I dodging one scam by walking into another? Should I bite the bullet and get the fillings? Is there actually some way to...

You have bacteria growing in holes in your teeth. How the fuck is vitamins, diet, or "remineralizing" going to kill the bacteria? The answer is that it will not, it is a scam.
All those things are great as preventatives. You do them BEFORE you get a cavity so you don't get one in the first place. After you already have the cavity, it's too late. You're pretty much fucked. It's time for a filling
It's just a filling, hurts less than a checkup.

Why are advancements in spaceflight technology so slow? We've seen huge jumps in computers and communication technologies, but it still seems like we're using 50 year old technology when it comes to spaceflight.

To put it simply; Rockets are quite possibly the most inefficient method of travel to date. You need more fuel the more mass you have right? Well the more fuel you have the more mass you have. But the more mass you have the more fuel you need. But the more fuel you have the more mass you need to lift. So scientists are trying to find a way to get to space much easier. As we've seen in the past this process has taken a while. And the rocket was just the first thing that came to mind.

I need a good reference on approximate operator decomposition, in particular spectral decomposition.
Are there effective algorithms that compute approximate spectrum, eigenvectors, projections and eigenspaces with computable bounds on number of iterations / residual?
It is known that degenerate matrices lead to troubles. But what if we approximate the spectrum with numbers that are all mutually distinct?
>>8010866
why do you need a reference?
you should be able to define your own objective function, your own constraints and derive an algorithm (or ask for help to find one) to match your project.
This is how we engineers do, as opposed to mathematicians who only rely on others.
>>8010884

why do you ask why he needs a reference, if from what you say you'd infer he's a mathematician?
