Just picked up a trash bag ful of bottles, fishermen bait containers, etc at one of my local parks.
Plan on doing it again on the other side if the bank.
Why aren't you volunteering to make your park better? Its like taking a hike but worthwhile
>>714809
because i have a job
>>714817
I'm afraid you don't understand what volunteering means
To be clear im not selling the trash afterwards, it'll be better to drive around looking for junk in dumpsters to scrap for a few bucks if I wanted to do that.
>>714821
you should try that out then. It pays more.
What are some /out/ approved manga and anime?
Been reading Kokou no Hito 'the Climber' and I NEED MORE
>cowbell
Pokemon
Mushishi
Kino's Journey
Bee movie
I recall hosting a similar thread a little over a year ago. Didn't get many replies cause there aren't many out there.
Mushishi would definitely be my first choice.
http://myanimelist.net/anime/457/Mushishi
Princess Mononoke is very /out/centric. It's entire premise is founded on loving nature.
http://myanimelist.net/anime/164/Mononoke_Hime
Those are the only ones I've seen that are /out/ related. I don't read a lotta manga, so I couldn't help you there, but I hope this thread gets some momentum.
Hey /out/ I went outdoors today because it was the first nice day that was convenient.
25 minutes of super eurobeat later and it's time to walk up a hill.
Perfect day for it. About 58 when I started here. Clear skies.
Yup, it's a trail alright.
>>714024
Bench 2 minutes up the trail.
I only ate these once when I was a kid in a christian scouting program. I liked them, I soner what ya'll think about them
I'd rather buy MREs than that overpriced Mountain House shit.
>>709932
They *are* rather expensive but taste good and are super easy to prepare. In addition there is little to no clean up required 'cuz you eat from the bag it comes in. I have about 20 MH meals in my kit and we regularly take them with us when hiking, canoeing or camping.
Chili Mac - Beef Stroganoff - Breakfast Skillet are my three favorites.
yeah they are pretty tasty and super easy. I would buy them all the time if I could afford to.
does /out/ ever hike drunk? i almost always bring a 12 pack with me on day hikes. sometimes i finish it, sometimes i only drink 1 or 2. i also always bring water, food and 'just in case'; supplies.
im wondering if others do this as well.
>>706514
Yeah, I drink a few beers or 375 ml of booze. You'll have a ton of white knights telling you how it's not trail rulze mannnnn. These are the same fags who frown upon smoking some weed on the trail. Freak them out by waving around your pistol.
Drinking is degenerate
>>706521
>frown upon smoking some weed on the trail
who the fuck does that?
i attempt to hid it if theres people hiking past me but i smoke (cigarettes) on the trails too. i never leave anything. i always packout cans and butts.
Hi sc/out/s,
Patch Anon here!
Thanks for the support on the first run this year. Added some free patches to your orders to say thanks and stickers of course!
I have a little gap this week to make new patches. So if you felt you got passed over on the last one or have some new ideas please post them in this thread.
Also if some kind anon can post link to all the other 4chan patch stores again just so you guys can check what is already out there!
>>694759
Could you make the /out/ girl patch in a subdued color?
>>694759
What do you do with these patches?
>>694802
He makes them
The question is, what do YOU do with these patches?
The previous thread is full, let's talk knives!
I chose this picture because I just bought a new Caly 3.5, a knife that is severely under-rated and should be a lot more popular with the general public than it is.
Previous thread:

>let's start another thread before the old one hits the bump limit on a slow ass board!

The bump limit is 300 posts, or at least it used to be the last time I checked, which was a long time ago.
How are the /out/s in Arizona?
I am thinking about moving there in 11 months.
Specifically moving to the Phoenix area to go to school.
I want to live in Arizona for the gun rights, the weather, and the deserts.
I have been to Arizona once in my life, and I was 10, and went to Scottsdale. So I have no idea how the state is geographically.
If I am in Downtown Phoenix, how far would I be from sweet sweet desert area to fuck around in? Less than an hour drive? More?
In my head I kind of picture just walking into my backyard and being in the middle...

Anything /out/ in Phoenix is covered in trash and bullet holes, the place is an absolute shit hole. Flagstaff on the other hand has some great outdoors.
>>713346
that's depressing. Are there any good shooting spots out there? I won't live in that area long, just long enough to finish school. If I could just shoot out there for a year I wouldn't mind so much.
>>713346
Phoenix does suck. Flagstaff is very expensive, shitty jobs but the outdoors is pretty rad. Great hiking, biking, camping VERY close and easy to access from town. People are shitheads, drive like they're blind and are generally kind of stupid...especially the rednecks. Lots of over educated poorly employed people. We call it 'poverty with a view'. Oh yeah, the city council is all business owners that only vote for what will benefit them. Other than that it's not bad. I've lived here 30+ years...

Hi was wondering how to get started in becoming a survivalist ? I really wanna start spending more time out doors and such
Best way is learn by doing just go out into the wild and live. It ain't that hard illiterate bush people do it every day. You can't learn if you don't do.
Op here... Ok thanks for the advice!
>>712387
Plan a trip to the woods.
You can start full on glamping, and then start taking things you don't need out of your load. Streamline your shit
Living outdoors for 7 weeks. Roughly 30 of us. Looking for ideas on games and activities for downtime. Packing light so nothing too extravagant.
Hide the banana

It's nice when the first post gets it absolutely perfect.
I like it.
I aspire to become a mercurial backwoods trekking one-man open cocktail bar, what's the best way to be able to prepare between 4 and 8 gin and tonics per day? I'm hiking about 10-12 miles a day so weight is an issue.
I reduced the weight of the gallon of gin by moving it into a shitty plastic jug but I will still need a pound of limes and another gallon of tonic or so. I will be able to make ice on the spot, it's still about 15 degrees farenheit up there. Is there some kind of carbonating tablet out there other than standard seltzer tabs? Can limes be freeze dried and rehydrated? Or is there some way I can pack some tea bags with lime zest for further weight savings?
If you reply to this thread I will appear to you just before dinner on the most difficult day of your next trip with your favorite cocktail
>>713258
yolo
Piss in water and sell beer. Americans won't know the difference. They drink the shittiest beer.
>>713258
>What's the best way to prepare gin and tonics?
In a whiskey glass.
>I'll bring you a cocktail.
White Russian, please!
Making my first homemade first aid kit for 3 day hiking trips. What am I missing?
- Advil
- Alcohol Prep Pads
- Band-Aids
- Benadryl
- Gauze (sterile)
- Gauze Tape
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Signal Mirror
- Snake Bite Kit
- Tweezers
- Vanilla (for burns)
- Whistle
>>706262
betadine
adhesive tape
cotton squarechief
>>706262
Throw out everything and except vodka, benadryl, imodium, ibuprofin, lip balm, sewing kit, duct tape, whistle, and tweezers.
Carrying bandages when you can cut up your cotton tshirt in the unlikelyhood of a major laceration is a waste of space. Start fires, drink it, or use the vodka for sterilizing instruments and cloth (not gauze). During your 3 day hiking trip, nobody is going to come find you via helicopter with your gay little mirror. Snake bite kits don't work and if you're only 3 days deep that's...

lack of protein to denature? different protein?
>>712469
like it dried out so much the protein changed? but would it not have tasted bad? it tasted fine. malnourished bird that laid the egg that dried out before it rotted?
>>712467
The proteins in that egg are not the same size or type as those found in normal chicken eggs. When you cooked it, the proteins didn't clump to each other making larger proteins. That is essential for the egg to turn white when cooked. Which is why that egg didn't turn white when cooked.
A thread for the godawful "tactical survival" gear that infests every "cool shit you can buy" site. Looking for products with zombie in the name is usually a good start.
I found this monstrosity the other day.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B81X2AU/?tag=047-20
Have you ever seen anything more disgusting than this?
http://www.amazon.ca/Apocalypse-Survival-Sardine-Killer-Company/dp/B018ROF7G2/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1455894798&sr=8-16&keywords=zombie+survival#productDetails
lmao this one doesn't even say whats in it, or is it just a decoration. They put it in the sports and outdoors section so I think its actually a real product
>>691838
It has a description.

tent pegs.
which can you recommend? I will use them with a tarp or poncho, forest soil, all seasons.

opinions?
My awesome snow/sand stakes, pic related!
Used on 12'x12' Kelty Noah's tarp for max holding poiwer in wind.
But for my freestanding dome tents I tend to trade up to Ti shepard hooks.
this ??
