The idea is to spend 3 weeks in Iceland. Book a ticket in late July and fly back around 19th August, just before university starts. I just want to hike the whole time and sleep in a tent and experience the wild life, apart from shoes, tent, sleeping bag and all the other small things I will need, is there anyone who has hiked around Iceland for a prolonged period of time, so I could gain some valuable insight into hiking and camping. Cheers

Is there any good fishing in iceland?
I have never been there, I have no idea. But I do strongly believe they have fish there it is an island.
>>804986
I've fished successfully at the docks in the two largest towns. I think that to fish in rivers or lakes you need permits (which can be expensive) but its something you could do. I got a video of salmon jumping up into a waterfall here last summer.

Is there anything like a treasure hunting general? I've never seen one...
Well anyway, i would like to get started into treasure hunting, is there any tip or advice you could give me? I live in Ft. Lauderdale and i've heard that rich spaniards used to hide their fortune around here, but that's pretty much it.
Metal detect the beach. People lose shit like rings and whatnot all the time. If you like doing that and dont get bored of it, look into better gear and diving lessons.
>>803082
>Ft. Lauderdale
Let's go fishin!
But you won't find anything like that around here anymore. Better off just looking for a lost ring on the beach with a metal detector. Maybe if you went down to the Keys and got to some of the uninhabited islands, you could find a couple Cubans that washed up. But there isn't anything around here that hasn't been touched in the past year.
Thid general is for folks who like inland freshwater and brackish fishing. Post your poles, setups, favorite spots, fish and favorite gear- Bonus for tackle box pics and ratings.
This is my box, trying to get smallmouth bass in souther washington. Using an Akuma trout fire cheap real and a ugly stick 10 ft pole. Red 10 lb test Spyder line with red hooks and salmon eggs as bait.
>>802222
Nice quads. I went fishing for bass at my parnets cottage last week. Lots of good fish, got one big guy who a good fighter. Didn't feel right to kill those frogs though, the fish all just went back.

You need a tackle bag mang. Livin in the past
>>802222
I see you there Endura.
Is this a mosquito bite? Looks kinda funky and itches like shit
Where did you get? What country are you in?
My first thought is that it looks like an insect bite, maybe a tick?
this is bad, very bad. Give my regards to Aunt Bea when you reach the other side
>>799537
Ain't no tick I've ever seen. They won't detach themselves until they're huge and bloated and they leave ring shaped bruises. At least in my corner of the world.
Pic related is the best /out/ boot you will ever have and it is as basic as it gets.
10 inch
Triple/quadrouple stitched
Full leather
Last for a decade of daily heavy use
Waterproof entirely(if you lace them right water won't pour in through the top)
You could run a marathon with theee boots
You can't own a boot better than this. Fact.
But are they comfy OP? Since you posted a stock photo I doubt you actually own a pair.
>>795508
I have a two pairs. No I will never post a photo I personally took on this website. Never.
Also, yes, very comfortable. More comfortable than tennis shoes.
What makes you think I would lie to you about the quality of something like this? These babies have gotten me through all of it and more. How else could I know their limits of waterproofness?
>heavy as fuck
>too much ankle support
>won't breathe enougb
>weapons grade autism
Nah, I'm good.
old thread is reaching bump limit.
Honestly Nicole is doing solid. Her shelter looks comfy as fuck and that fish she got was huge.

Why not use a better OP pic

I wanted to keep it like the old one and it's easier to spot. When I first saw your pic I thought it was pic related.
Why isnt my hobo stove working /out/? Im using denatured alcohol

I don't understand your question. That's how they all work but you are missing the part where they light your house , gear , hand or picnic table on fire
Probably needs to heat up more before you put the pot on
the airflow is not right. punch a third row of holes or even a fourth one
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/07/01/german-tourist-falls-to-his-death-while-trying-to-take-photo-atop-machu-picchu
A German tourist has died while trying to take a photo atop Machu Picchu. The tourist, identified by the BBC and Peruvian media as 51-year-old Oliver Park, died Wednesday after slipping from a ledge and falling approximately 130 feet.
He was posing for a mid-leap photo when he fell off Machu Picchu mountain, which overlooks the ancient Incan citadel of the same name. Peruvian officials said the tourist bypassed a security cordon...

The photo must be great though.
I bet it would make a nice profile pic.

Did he died?
So I went out today for a day trip to test my new hammoxk. It was my first completely solo innawoods day and while it was at times really satisfying I have to admit I was very scared a few times.
At first, every noise some bird made with twigs on the forest floor made me anxious. Then I heard some squirrels running around. Then a few very distant barks. I was in no way danger, yet I could almost never switch my mind from "flight or fight" mode.
Brehss... As an inexperienced newbie who is looking forward to spend a lot of time in the woods this summer,...

Can you attach a Reverse Osmosis membeane to a camping filter and get RO quality water from a clean source?
Would I need a hand pump for it too?
So far Ive found
http://safewaterpro.com/portable-reverse-osmosis-water-filter-for-camping/
Talking about how it CAN be done, I am just wondering how. I know I would need a hand pump (no electricity) and probably a camp filter to pre-filter the water in streams, lakes, rivers est est.
Is there a spcific filter I can buy thats not a complete set? So far I have found

From the article, they both are highly expensive $120+ and have to have hand pumps attached for even more cash.
What I am looking to do is,
1
>Find a water filter setup that can produce reverse osmosis quality 7-10PPM disovled solids.
2
>Make it myself by either A) Attaching a camp filter (like the sawyer mini, MSR, est) onto it so I can filter easily from backwoods sources. And B) Make it lightweight and portable enough to either fit in a small backpack or be portable.
I will probably need a handpump from a hardware store, and it may be expensive. But, I would like to be able to build it myself and save cash or space (either one or both).
From this link I know it can, and is doable for under $120.
No because without proper maintenance and pretreatment the RO membrane will be wrecked before too long.
You would need to prefilter, soften, pH control, and dose with antiscalant.
Might it work for a bit? Sure, but it is a waste of money as there are way better methods for treating water. RO is only important if you have to remove salts or have to get hardness extremely low for steam boilers. If you wanted good water after RO you would have to add back minerals too.
>>805749
Boil your water to kill bacteria and viruses. After boiling pour the pre-boiled water through a carbon filter (re: charcoal) to remove harmful, non-organic substances
You now have potable water.
