Hey guys, I've been practicing photography as a hobby off and non for about a year now. I've recently made investments into film photography but haven't gotten to many good shots so far.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/132029948@N02/with/24509186260
My beginning photos were much more stereotypical and pretty bland, but I like to think my newer shots aren't quite as terrible. c&c would be greatly appreciated. Never had my pictures truly critiqued.

Anyone have experience with a go pro/drone setup? Any advice on recording and shooting with these would be great, considering it for my wedding
Sure. Don't use a GoPro. Use something that's not a GoPro. DJI's own camera isn't bad. Other than that, you should be fine.
They're a lot trickier to fly than you expect. One that's modified with a better transmitter and an FPV setup makes a big difference. It's worth getting a cheap(er) R/C helo and learning to fly with it before you crash your $1k+ drone.
My old shop had an FPV modded Phantom with a GoPro, and it worked quite well, but my boss crashed it pretty badly near that famous bridge on PCH (near Big Sur I think) and had to hike an hour down into the canyon to recover it, and then never fixed it. Range with FPV is pretty badass, though, we had some pretty fun antics...

I'm shooting some events soon and I need to get a speedlight for on-camera. I have two questions about accessories:
1. I'm thinking I probably need some kind of modifier. I've seen miniature softboxes and beauty dishes that fit on an on-camera speedlight. What modifier would you recommend for event photography?
2. Do I need a flash bracket? I don't mind spending the extra money if it makes a big difference, but I don't want to get something I don't really need.
pic related is a bit large and excessive but you get the idea. I'll be moving around a lot, taking red carpet style photos, banquet photos, and possibly some party photos. I want to do it right.

Generally, anything large enough to make much of a difference is going to be too big to carry without looking stupid. A flash bracket will bring the light closer to the lens, which will minimize the look of shadows, since the flash is pretty much on-axis.
>>2769032
I was under the impression that a bracket moves the flash further from the lens.
>>2770799
You were under the right impression. A bracket is nice to have but they can be a little large and unwieldy. They do come in handy to reorient the camera to portrait shooting and still have the flash above the camera. If you can find a good lightweight one with a small profile go for it. I wouldn't worry too much about modifiers, maybe a diffuser that goes over the flash head of some kind if it makes you feel better.
Hey /p/, I'm getting married in a little more than a year and am currently looking into finding a photographer.
I know a lot of you have shot weddings in the past and was wondering what type of things I should look for, questions to ask, and things to be weary of.

I can't stress this enough, look at their fucking prior work. Any photog worth their salt will also have at least one full example package that they can show off and maybe even a proof book that they'll let you look through.

I'm sure some people are gonna disagree with me on this, but -
don't let the photographs get in the way of your wedding. Candid shots make a better memory than some over-arranged portrait of a bride dressed in rented dress.
Plus you're gonna end up divorced anyway, so why even care.
I get the feeling that the price of wedding photography has come down over the past 5-15 years due to competition
I also get the feeling that some on /p/ are butthurt about this because they relied on it as a source of income.
I also get the feeling /p/ is passive aggressive and tries to justify people paying 3-10x as much for marginally better shots that 99% of people won't even recognize as better.

Why is the lower number more powerful than the higher number? Shouldn't be the oposite?
They are now doing the nikon D5, but what will happen after the nikon D9? Nikon D10?
Wouldn't the numbers overlap a previous existing camera?
Or the D500 for DX cameras, the next obvious step would be the nikon D600, but there is already a nikon D600. WTF nikon?
They should have done a system where the higher the number is, the newer the camera is. Then there would be no mistake as the numbers keep rising always.

And by good sharpness, I mean pretty intense edge effects.
It looks pretty rough in 35mm, I imagine it could be quite interesting in medium format and the right subject.
Each vial of Neofin Blau is good for 2 films, I had already dev'd the Ortho 25 I had first up, so I threw this roll in to use it up and experiment a little.
Neofin's intended use is to tame the contrast of slow films, which it's great for.

Could've been really nice, but you completely missed focus, and the angle is weird and looks bad. As a general rule, keep your photos straightened, they will almost always look better that way. Also, if you are using a tripod, which, if you're taking night photos you should be, then you can turn your ISO down, which'll give you a lot less noise, and you can close down your aperture, which will make it sharper.
Also bumping.
