Where can I learn proper RAW processing? I really suck at it and all of my photos turn out either bland or over processed.

They don't sell it anymore.

Unless you want to spend an arm and a leg at THEIMPOSSIBLEPROJECT.com But they are factory restored.
I grabbed all my 600 Cameras via thrift stores/pawn shop.
TIP Color film is not truly instant.
Their bW2.0 is amazing though.
I like my spectra system more as it has more options.
TIP Film is expensive and I recomend if you like to waste film,, go with an InStax Wide 300/210, or maytbe the Lomo Instant Wide.
TIP Film 23/25$ish dollars for 8 shots.
Discounts if you buy triple packs. They upgraded the color but but doesn't compare to Instax unless you like the artsy feel.
I get my instax wide film, 20 shots for 15.99 at B&H and some times Mel Priece camera.
>>
Impossible project is a irredeemable shit company kept alive by anorexic dazed and confused readers taking pictures of each other smoking cigarettes while fantasizing about ollying over crimean children

just get her an instax or your "gift" will burn a hole into her wallet larger than the camera itself in 2 months time

>tl;dr I am looking to get into filming and editing music videos.
>looking for basically the cheapest respectable full hd camera
what do I mean by that?

basically the lowest on the bar to shoot a high quality music video without the type of budget high end artists / producers my have.

Between my group of friends I have a passionate and locally successful rap artist, a friend who is passionate and skilled about music producing (which I am too), a friend who is passionate (but does not have the money for) directing (he has a lot of story boarded movies for the sake of practice). We already have a skilled producer and I've lost my passion for being an artist but I would like to start filming for my buddy.

your help is greatly appreciated as I am in the very beginning stages of learning film equipment.

Hey /p/

Digitalfag here, I want to get into shooting film (including developing my own B&W film).

Are there any infographics on shooting and developing B&W film? Including gear needed etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good developing set that I can get online? I went to my local camera store and the developing kits all seemed terrible quality (cheap plastic) and were wayyyyyy overpriced for what they were.

I will primarily be shooting architecture, is there any B&W film that is better suited to this over another?

Thanks.

I assume you mean 35mm since you posted an F2 and didn't specify, but for architecture you would probably be best suited by large format although medium format could also work well especially if you get a camera with movements. I also assume that you're developing your film and then scanning it, right? Getting into wet printing is quite a bit more stuff on top of these basics. As for film, just use something slow for maximum resolution since you'll probably be on a tripod anyway.

But anyways, for 35mm get Hewes stainless steel reels and a stainless daylight developing tank. The equipment for MF is basically the same but with reels sized for 120 film rather than 35mm, obviously. For large format you'll want a different type of tank but LF is a whole different world unto itself. Plastic reels promise to be easier to use for beginners but it's all a goddamn lie and those reels are unreliable You'll also want a windowless bathroom or something to load your film into the tank in absolute total complete pitch black darkness with no little light leaks, you can do the rest of the developing in the light once that part is done.

You'll need a big ~1L graduated cylinder to mix chemicals in, a funnel, something to stir with, probably a meat thermometer or something although you can get away with being pretty lax on temperature control with B&W processing, a stopwatch/cell phone (get the massive film dev phone app, by the way), some weighted clips to hang your film for drying, a pair of scissors, negative sleeves to store the negatives, a sharpie to clearly and systematically label your goddamn sleeves so that you can remember what you're look at when you pull out your negatives 6 months from now, and bottles to store your chemicals in. Store the chemicals in the dark in very tightly sealed bottles to keep them fresh for longer, preferably in either plastic opaque bottles or amber/brown colored glass bottles.

And of course there's already guides on the internet about this stuff:
http://www.ilfordphoto.com/Webfiles/200629163442455.pdf
http://www.ilfordphoto.com/aboutus/page.asp?n=40
http://www.lomography.com/magazine/56919-a-beginners-guide-to-cheap-and-easy-developing-of-black-and-white-film-at-home (this guy stores chemicals in clear plastic and uses plastic reels, don't be a retard like that guy. Also changing bags are really annoying in my opinion, I'd rather black out a bathroom instead)
http://www.apug.org/forums/forum221/50712-beginners-guide-b-w-processing.html (APUG is great, shitpost on /p/ when you want to have fun but lurk on APUG when you want to actually learn stuff)

Is there a big benefit shooting medium format ober 35mm for architecture?

I planned on getting the nikon 28mm ais tilt shift and an f2as to start off with.

Thanks for the informative replies.

I've got a 6d and I'm going to buy a 85mm prime, which is the best idea: Buy the cheaper f/1.8 from Canon? Buy the Sigma f/1.4 or just wait for a potential release of a Sigma Art version?
>>
>>2729147
Get the Canon. f/1.8 on 85mm will give nice shallow DOF and is sharper than the Sigma.

Going to be shooting an event tomorrow. This will be my first event. What mode do you recommend I shoot in?

Pic related is what I dont want to shoot in.
I was thinking of shooting in aperture priority so I can capture motion or freeze the action as I see fit.

I was also considering shooting in P mode so I dont have to worry about settings.

I'm looking for a lens for Pentax that I can set up for a long exposure, stationary-mounted shot of the night sky in the summertime. Ideally, I'm thinking 20mm range, and pretty sharp at f/1.8. Pic related seems to fit the bill, but I don't want to spend $800 on a lens that I'd have no other real need for. Anybody have a particular favorite K-mount lens for shooting the night sky?

Winter in Wyoming fucking sucks man

Vegasfag here

Its been wierd. We had a long summer and a late start to our cold weather. El Nino is making our temps and winds jump around like crazy. Lots of overcast ruin days I want to take pictures. And we seem to get sprinkles of rain only at night just enough to keep your car dirty at all times. Other than that, its been okay.

Man I just drove through Vegas to get to Death Valley and had the best photo weather week ever. It's just two hours away, get your ass out there!

Why do more often than not, great photographers opt to shoot in black and white and not in color? Ansel Adams, Sebastião Salgado, Cartier Bresson, Capa, Diane Arbus, Daido Moriyama, Henri Lartigue, only to name a few, favored Black and White over color. Why is that?

Technology availability at their time of activity is one factor.
But mainly, yourself being a cherry picking prick.
Plenty of other renowned photographers are shooting color.
Steve McCurry, Annie Leibovitz, Saul Leiter, Joel Santos, Nils Jorgensen, Eggleston, Martin Parr, Bruno Barbey, just to stick to famous ones.

Just because you're uneducated doesn't mean there's a pattern. Also you forgot Fan Ho, he's much better than Henri Lartigue or Diane Arbus imo.
>>
Different reasons, probably mainly personal preference. Pretty sure Ansel Adams shot mainly B&W for archival purposes
