Newb here. Been shooting and developing film photos for about 5 years now. I want to go to digital photography. willing to buy a dslr...or sth cool but cheap. Will fitting my 35mm lenses on a digital camera keep the ,,colours,, and all the shit that film photography brings to it?

No. The colors you get on film is not from the lens, it's from the film. Once you shoot on digital, your results will be much more flat and accurate out of the camera, and if you want those colors back, you'll have to learn to process the files yourself (or learn to love VSCO/NIK)

does a serious alternative exist for modern dslr bodies or desings? I have an old contax camera and I love it, because it looks humane, interesting, it looks like it takes mysterious pictures. And then there's especially entry level dslr cameras of the 2000's that are noisy as washings machines loaded with fucking bricks, they scare people away so they are a huge no for candid shooting, they have no option of having a physical knob for either aperture or shutter times, not even a compromise that could be used for either depending on the auto program you're using

the Df is a massive camera with the same footprint as nikon's 'small' fullframe cameras.
You're being deluded by the hard angles and hipster styling and will still look like a giant dorkazoid trying to be discreet with it.
For a genuinely smaller footprint, get an oly em5ii, fuji xt1/t10/pro2, sony a7sii, or the newest blotch on whatever the fragmented pizza face acne sony mirrorless lineup looks like nowadays.

I've recently gotten very into photography and visual art. However I am wondering as to what many of you would recommend. Recently I have aquired an old nikon d70s which isn't a terrible camera, but I don't always like the pics that come out. I live in Colorado and like to do a fair amount of nature photography. I do have a film camera, but I much prefer digital photography because of the ease of it. The lens is fairly shity(18-55mm zoom) and I would like to know what /p/ recommends and any tips you could offer to a new photographer

For the first two years of owning a DSLR I just tried to grasp the controls, the theory etc. But now, when I've gotten a hang of it all and I got my hands on a few film cameras I've been actully getting noteworthy photographs (my words, haven't showcased my stuff)
But why do you photograph? How do you justify owning thousands of dollars worth equipment?

I enjoy the "collection" aspect of capturing something in a photo. I also like to strive to make beautiful things look beautiful after the fact. Mostly it gives me something to do when I'm bored.
I justify the expensive equipment by using it to make money. The only money I spend on gear is money I make through photography, so it never affects my finances outside of the ecosystem I've set up.

For me photography is an astonishing artistic medium because of it's way of composing actual real life visual sights into images that suit whichever cause it was created for. The painting-like idea of carefully composing visuallly thrlling images exites me. Lately I've been getting far better results than ever before.
Also I can't paint or draw for shit but also I enjoy capturing and storing true life more than creating from scratch and fiction.

I justify my gear through the work I need it for in the studio, but also get to use it for whatever I want on my own time. I never really thought about getting into photography until my job required me to do so, and I got through the technical grit of it all in just 6 months.
I am drawn to creating imagery, but lack the patience to produce traditional art, so I do digital stuff; 2D, 3D, and now photography. It's much faster and you're more aware of the end-result.

Because they want to take photos and Canon cameras are just as good at taking tourist snapshits on kit lenses as any other brand.
I bought a 40D in 2012 because it was cheap used, solid body and decent af performance (I started shooting concerts and motocross, just for fun, I was quite bad at it).
I then invested in a 70-200 f4 (arguably the best f4 tele on the planet) and I stayed with the APS-C system.
I also believe Canon produces the best crop lenses in term of price/quality ratio.

That should go for Pentax but Canon is a close second.
See the Limited primes and the babby primes 50 and 35mm, also the telecreep 55-300.
The star lenses are another story, excellent quality with fair but very high prices.
