Hi /p/
I've been a photographer for about 2 years now, mainly focusing on street for fun but event for profession. Because I shoot events (by this I mean local shows and festivals) I don't have any lighting gear or setup for portraits, but I would like to start to get in to a more professional setting of business portraits and eventually wedding shots.
I do have my first business portrait shoot coming up here on July 13th, and I'm not sure what to expect. I went and took a look at the place and it seemed to have decent lighting but I'm thinking about renting some lighting gear just in case. Do you have any tips/advice on what to rent and what to expect?
TL;DR: doing a business portrait for the first time and I only have a general idea on what to expect/what I'm doing.

What's the best website or social media page to sell camera gear? I don't mind eBay taking 10% when it's something under like £400 but when I'm selling an expensive body I'm getting real sick of it, it's such a waste of money.

I've always sold everything on Craigslist.
Avoid selling on eBay if you can, as they will always screw over the seller to keep the buyer happy when there is a dispute. Imagine this scenario;
1.) I buy your camera
2.) You pack it well, ship it to me, it arrives fine, I throw away the packaging
3.) I use it for 6 weeks then drop it, breaking it
4.) I open a case with eBay claiming that it arrived broken due to insufficient packaging
Guess who eBay will rule in favor of? Tip - it's not you.
Also, use the gear thread pls.

This isn't really a gear thread per se, and the camera economy is interesting enough on its own to merit its own thread with a separate discussion.

¿How do i look like a War photographer? ¿What should i dress? I mainly works on riots and social/guild protest
Avoid wearing anything with camouflage or clothing that could make you look like a paramilitary etc.
Carry a plain helmet and gasmask, wear the most common clothing possible, jeans/cargo pants and plain jumpers. Do not wear anything that looks like it has come from an army surplus store or could be construed in anyway shape or form to make you appear like you are aligned to any party.
Same goes for anything overtly trendy or fashionable that could make you look like you're with a rioting group.
Write PRESS on the helmet front and back in white lettering...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I live in an area with lot of conflicts. I have no doubt that in few days, the police/military will be sent to fight the riots. I don't know if i should use the Press card the journal gave me, since it don't have any certification.
¿Any other experiences working on this kind of photojournalism?

Curious: what is the point of these threads? They seem so show-offy to me. I mean sure it may be interesting to know what camera someone is using if you know the photographs that person took but why would anyone care for what else you carry around on a photography board? Would make more sense to me to post all those items in their respective general threads.
(Xpro2, Voigtlander 25mm f4, Kaxinda/Meike 35mm 1.7, Fuji 16-50, EF-X20 flash, Instax SP-1 printer, little multitool card thing that fits in a credit card slot, 3 Fuji batteries in the EF-X20 case.)
I want to know more about editing landscapes / sunsets.
What would you change on this edit?

It sounds like a good camera, but do not find anything useful on the Interwebs
What happened to the t4i? It came out in 2012 and is now obsolete. The t5i is still out there in small numbers and the t6i is obviously available as the newest camera in the line.
It was recalled because of the rubber grip (there was only one reported case of allergies to the rubber but they recalled it anyways), so they instead released the almost identical t5i
i owned a t4i for a year! focus sensor fell out randomly sent it into best buy with warranty was given a gift card of how much i paid. got a 70d been happy as a pig on shit with it so far :)

Can we get a Sigma Merrill Thread going?
Just checked the prices, holy shit they went up. They are about 700$ these days. I remember seeing them go for $300 or less about a year and a half ago.
>>2857503
I don't have one, but I'd like to see this thread do well. Merrill cameras are pretty much my go-to for great interesting tech that's never used to produce anything that I find interesting. Most of the shots seem to be stuff that should have been taken on a cell phone, by people who thought they were buying a point and shoot.
>>2857510
>Most of the shots seem to be stuff that should have been taken on a cell phone, by people who thought they were buying a point and shoot.
this x1000.
id buy one just to see what it can do, because all i find on flickr is ugly people in shitty situations. not a single good portrait. not a single bechers styled serie (i think this camera would excel at that). no thomas ruff style super detailed deadpan portraits. nothing, just terrible snapshits.
>>2857510
>by people who thought they were buying a point and shoot.
What do you mean? Is it a hard to use camera or something?
Film General Thread, aka FGT.
>just posting in the FGT doesn't make you gay, unless you shoot respooled dupe film
This is the thread for all of your stupid film questions, and to post your film snapshits without flushing them down the RPToilet.
It's OK to ask about film gear in this thread.
Your illustrious OP bought pic related yesterday, and is thus one step closer to patrician LF /p/aradise. As is customary, once I'm there I will no longer be able to communicate with mortals by posting photos, but to help with my ascendance I'd love some advice from other LF illuminati on the board in choosing a camera and associated paraphenalia.

Wow, LF film ready to be wasted in your camera tests. Exciting!
>>2856933
Where did this whole camera testing thing you go on with come from?
>Here's some 220 Velvia I wasted trying to test it's response to some nice afternoon sunlight on an empty couch. The dev failed, presumably because the chemicals were exhausted, so gave my very weird half neg/half pos images.
Where do y'all get your film developed? I'm doing a photography project that'll try to capture the essence of summer, so I'll be shooting portra and some fujishit
Using the X-Pro2 I've noticed that there's an AF (or maybe metering) sound made when using the OVF in brighter light. No sound in the EVF, and no sound using the OVF in low light.
I'm using the 90/2 LM which focuses silently usually. Has anyone else noticed this, or have an explanation?

It's the sound of the emergency light valve. If there is too much light in the camera (at very bright conditions for example), the light valve openes, and light escapes until the pressure decreases to a safe level.
