Go away Eric, you're not fooling anyone.
He's definitely improved somewhat as a photographer over the years and he has the occasional worthwhile article. The series he's putting together on his girlfriend is pretty good. That said he's also heavily dependent on hero-worship and on borrowing of techniques from the big names. His ridiculous, undergrad sociological babble makes most of his articles unbearable to read.
Also keep in mind he sells workshops and shit like that, he's a shill for himself and that informs everything he does and says, although I do respect that he puts things like ebooks and Lightroom presets out for free.
Can't stand him. His voice and his cringe worthy techniques make me feel sick. Plus his "interview" with Bellamy Hunt was so terrible that it made me feel bad for him.
Hey guys, I need advice.
So I have a friend whos into photography, and lately him and I have been running around the city finding good spots for some shots, and he's been taking some pretty good photos. He usually edits them on Adobe Lightroom and they come out super sick and so I've wanted to learn to edit photos.
Here's a photo he took of me, how can I edit it to make it look good? I want it to be kind of moody-ish.
I'll put up the photo I'm editing right now, but In the replies, I'll put up a photo that he edited so you guys can know what kind of vibe I'm going for. Bear with me because I'm kind of inexperienced.

I'd go with a Canon EOS Rebel SL2, good camera for beginners and intermediates, you can find it around $250 if lucky, but at most $350, then spend about $700 on 2 decent lenses for it as extras.
