I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the departure of Fan Ho yet, or was I simply not paying attention

He was a legend op. What a inspiration he is.

If you have questions about a new camera, what lenses to buy and anything related to gear or wondering about getting into photography, post it in this thread.
Do not attempt to make a new thread for your new Rabal, broken glass and being new.
No pointless (brand) arguments and dickwaving allowed! You have been warned!
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here!
And don't forget, be polite!

Should I get a used x-pro1 and new glass or a new x-t10 with the 16-50 kit lens? Assuming the two options are the same price.

I want a film camera for portraiture, which one would you pick?
gv-1 or gv-2 for gr? or other company?
How do you colour correct your drone footage, i just cant get this to look good. Thanks /p/
>>2869793
what do you mean good. give examples.
>>2869801
Here's an example of a shot moments later, all I've done it tweak the contrast a little.
OP:
I'm new to this if you can't tell, image 1 looks as if it's been heavily stylized (despite it being straight off the SD card). I'd like it to look more balanced, and coloured similar to the second image. Has the sun ruined this shot, or can it be salvaged? I'm editing in After Effects (as this is for a video project), any advice would be welcome.. in future I'll turn down the saturation and contrast in the drone settings. I'm shooting with a DJI Phantom 3 4K.
It's official. The SLR is dead! Long Live Mirrorless!
Why are you hanging on to your inferior, ancient SLR?

Because it's excellent, and versatile, and didn't cost me $10,000.

What phone is best for photography? I'm going to replace my current phone today because it's absolutely terrible and cost the same as an iPhone. I'm hoping to an exchange for another phone at no extra cost so may be looking at last year's models. I'm torn between an iPhone and Sony Xperia Z4. I had an iPhone 4S that had a pretty good camera but the browser reloading webpages when you switched between tabs drove me absolutely crazy. The lack of expandable memory is also a major drawback to me. This is why I'd prefer to stick with Android and the...

True about the memory thing. I actually have yet to hit the 32gb on my current phone. But that may be partially due to how awful the camera is.
Your photos actually have made me reconsider Apple again. Still, the idea of the reloading browser pages and necessary reinstallation of iTunes is less than appealling.
What iPhone do you have? I imagine I'd be looking at the 6S in terms of exchanging at no cost.
>>2871598
Yeah 6s. But dont base your purchase on the bias view of some dipshit on an arabian caligraphy appreciation forum.
If you'll be more happy not dealing with apple and with the Z4, then just get that.

What camera backpack is the best? I don't really have a lot of gear right now, just a DSLR, a 35mm prime and 18-55 kit lens. But I want a backpack I can use for everyday stuff too, that can fit a laptop and my tripod in the bag and not having to carry it on the side.
I've been looking at Lowepro stuff, but is the Transit too small to fit a tripod in it? Should I look at other brands too?
or you could just pack yr shit in a normal backpack like every none-autist
>>2869127
>Letting your gear bump around in a backpack without padding or being secured
You don't really have any room to call other people autists
>>2869133
>pack camera in (padded) camera bag

I just dont see any advantage in a camera backpack to a normal backpack besides being expensive as fuck in comparison

Why is traditional Japanese architecture so much more interesting than anything the Europeans have done?
Like look at that. That's fucking amazing. It's not just Japanese too...Chinese..Mayans..Aztecs...anyone with that jap genetics built some really cool fucking buildings.
Then you go to some piece of shit country like UK, Hungary, or Belgium, and it's just complete shit architecture that some two year old made and should have been bulldozed centuries ago
>>2873117
Weaboo faggot
>>2873117
And the Japanese haven't had any kind of major artistic, cultural, or architectural achievement on the world stage since then. For Christ's sake, they barely even used WHEELS until the Meiji period.
Trust me, I live in Japan and 90% of everything here should be bulldozed right now. It's so old and decrepit and rotten and rusty and absolutely disgusting.

what kind or portraiture anon. Environmental could be as wide as 35mm on a 35mm sensor but really if you're doing portraiture of any kind you should be shooting DMF if not LF

Looking for anyone who saved a particular thread in the past. I thought I had it backed up but I can't find it. It was a thread about a specific photographer's style of Tokyo night street photography, and in the middle of it, the actual photographer showed up and dropped knowledge in half English, half Japanese. Anyone know the thread? Anyone save the thread?

if you can be more specific about what exactly this... assignment(?) is, people can almost certainly give more pertinent advice. at the very least could you post an example of a portrait of "just someone's face"? i'm having trouble figuring whether you're talking about filling the frame with their face, shooting it in a way that their face is lit and the rest of their body is in shadow, or just a normal portrait that emphasizes the face in its composition. here are some general ideas off the top of my hed tho.
light it in a dynamic way that emphasizes...

I guess I'm looking for portraits that are interesting. I randomly try and google something and I find this kind of stuff. Most of the pictures are black and white. and the 'Interesting' ones are butt ugly. Maybe face portraits have reached their artistic height?
