How do I achieve this kind of effect where the focus is on the head and the shoulders and torso are already slightly out of focus. What kind of lens do I need?

Also if you know any other great portrait pics of an 'about' page of an creative agency, feel free to post them here.

Do you think the guys in the photo is my team? I found this photo online, and i post it here because I'm an AMATEUR photographer and I was asked by my old company to redo their 'about' photos. I just want some advice in renting the right lens.
>>
>>2758803
To achieve a shallow depth of field you need a lens with a small f stop, a 50mm 1.4 would be good for portraits

28 KB,
So I've been doing a lot of video work at my job and originally I had a pretty tight budget from the higher ups.

However my work has been spreading around and I got the OK today to step up the amount of time I'm spending in the week and they've agreed to open up a little more spending as well. Last time around I spent the money on camera equipment and ended up having to use Windows movie Maker.

So! I have very little experience with any serious editing software. What would be the best single license software for editing.

I bought a Kiev 60. It looks it's been modded to shoot 4.5x6 & it has the mirror lockup. It's all black and has a serial number of 0014. It doesn't seem to have special markings.

Can anyone help me understand what I just bought?

You should resell it to collectors. Not to mention that crack on the front... looks like you're going to get some serious light leaks from it unless you don't cover them.

It's a common modification, it doesn't make it worth anything really. Use it if you want, sell it if you don't.

Is there any way I can tell a photo on Facebook has been photoshopped beyond reasonable doubt?

I know this guy and I know that he has a weak chin and jawline. However he posted this photo and the only explanation is that he had jaw surgery (he hasn't) or altered the photo.

The photo is only on Facebook. I feel like there are some blurs that hint to alteration, but I'm not an expert in this area.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a larger photo. I don't want to include his face because I don't want to embarrass him. However, if you can tell me a way to see if it's photoshopped I can publicly embarrass him on Facebook if you want.
>>
>>2757863
what you're pointing to is a jpeg artifact. Facebook compresses photos when you upload them, meaning you get artifacts like that. There are ways to tell if something is photoshopped, but I'm 99% sure this isn't.

It's the lighting in the picture that gives him the shadow under his jaw. Now fuck off you little jealous prick

Any anon here experience with repairing an Aires Viceroy folder camera (or the very similar Mine Six IIF)? I'm trying to clean the very cloudy viewfinder/rangefinder in mine but I can't get the advance knob off so I can remove the top cover. Pic related.
I already removed a long screw (see hole) and tried the usual 35mm camera trick of blocking the "fork" and turning the knob until it comes off, but here the knob won't budge.

Don't know if this kind of advance knob is used in other medium format folders too. Any help is appreciated.

You sure it's not a press fit on a splined shaft, with that screw to stop it coming off?

>>2757665
Good idea, that would make sense, but I tried lifting it off and carefully prying it up and it doesn't move one bit.

Thanks a ton for your comment anon.
Turns out the screw was completely unimportant, but the little fork thingie on the inside of the camera could be pried off the advance shaft, and then it's easy to pull out.

Hello /p/,

I stopped taking pictures with my G3 about 3 months ago to buy my first DSLR. Now, after abusing of my 18-55mm kit lens, I find myself forced to take a step forward and buy my first prime lens.

I own a D3200 (with a crop sensor (DX)), and I have to decide between the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G DX or the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G DX-FX

Help me pls!

They are very different lenses with very different purposes. Likely, if you actually have needs, one will suit those needs better than the other, and without you telling us about your style, we can't even begin to tell you the things you should realistically already know on your own.

Also,

Hmmm I'm really keen on taking portraits mainly and street photography. And bokeh. Lots of bokeh.

I'm just scared that the crop factor applied to the 50mm may make it become a tele.
>>
>>2757590
>crop factor applied to the 50mm may make it become a tele.

It does. It would be nice for portraits though. While not fixed rules, many prefer slight tele for portraits and wider than 50mm equivalent for street photography.

The 35mm would be the more versatile of the two, but I personally love a little tele and the 50mm would still be usable if you ever want to go for fool frame.

Hey /p/,I recently visited my local YMCA to talk to and shoot some of the residents, I believe some of them had autism which made posing them quite awkward so I went for more candid portraits. Which one from this gentlemen do you think is better? I'm not sure which to use.

Damn you didn't actually shoot them. With a gun. I had high expectations of gore on here from a local YMCA massacre...

Second is probably better as the head is level and that hair, but I think the facial expression from the first was more interesting.

General focus on the subject and background bokeh was consistent in both.

Can't say I thought either photos was great given the subject is less than appealing and would be better off taking photos themselves or maybe lose some weight.
>>
>>2757461
Was my terminology inappropriate or unprofessional?
I also think I'm going to go for the second one, I just feel that the closed eye makes the photograph look very armature.
>>
>>2757465
Terminology is not an issue.

For the photos I would say the closed eyes would work well if there is was some appeal to the subject, but this is my opinion.
