idk why but i took a shit ton of shots and they were all blurry. and not like the autofocus missed, there was nothing at all in focus in my images, and it was only with cardinals. other birds i nailed focus but i took shot after shot, on different days and every time they were blurry
finally got a usable shot last week

only reason I can think of is if you used too low of a shutter speed, but I trust that you already know about the 1/focal length for handheld shutter speed.
The Pentax K3 and its crop factor (which I assume is 1.5x) makes the 300mm lens a 532mm. You were pretty close with the 1/500, but this might have been the problem if you shot with lower speed. (and it says Exposure Mode: Auto, so it might have wildly been varying the shutter speeds during your 100 photos).
Long story short, some pillhead stole my shit a couple years ago and I want to get back into it. Still have a couple Nikkor lenses, so I'd like to stick with Nikon.

Now I got the calibration cap, and you can hone focus, but because you can't see the effects until you re-attach the lens it's going to take a whole lot of fucking time, going through every focal length.
Does anyone have a map of what they've calibrated it at to save me some time?

I'd say that there isn't really anything wrong with adobe CC, I use it at work but that's mostly because there's 20+ people who need to use it jumping in and out of different projects, and the adobe products are the only thing that *everyone* is familiar with.
Photo viewer is more a matter of preference than anything else.

Anyone know if there is any money to be made in the photography editing business? Specifically in high end portrait/wedding/fashion?
I currently work as a photographer, but my wife is Chinese and we are considering a move back to China, my Mandarin is not fluent enough to run a business and deal with clients and I am not particularly fond of teaching.
I was thinking about brushing up on my portrait retouching skills and offering my services in my home country and just working from home in China.
I do realize that there Indians will do it cheap as fuck.....

Theoretically, I'm sure there is money somewhere in editing. Probably not as much as you hope.
Like with photography and other unqualified jobs that amateurs at least partly can do (often adequately), never mind all the art school people, it's probably an over-saturated market.
You probably need people & business skills as well as luck, and some hard work with editing, to get and keep getting jobs.
Photo editing =/= photo retouching.
Now that we have that out of the way, yes there is money to be made in retouching. It is my sole source of income. I do it in the U.S. though. I have no idea what the market is like in China. Yes, there are retouching houses in India as well as China that churn out basic work for pennies but they are generally not used for anything beyond basic masking prep so that we can do the hard work that requires color correction and art direction.
You need connections and a portfolio of work. You need to be highly skilled if you want to...

What sort of income do you earn doing this full time?
My market would be the Australian market (and I guess somewhat international being online) as I do not have level of Mandarin fluency to operate in China.
We are not planning on leaving right away, my idea was to build this slowly while still keeping my current job.. If it is something I could develop we could then think about the move to China.
Good afternoon, /p/
I've got some recent stuff for you guys, most of these will be from a week long trip to Death Valley I took in late December. It was my first time there but I could see myself going a lot more often. It's seriously like a paradise, with every kind of desert landscape you could imagine and more. And it's mostly empty in December. I spent every sunrise and sunset without another human in sight, and got to spend most nights in peaceful, silent solitude camping in the van. It's completely awesome. This was a salt and mud flow that was drying up from the floods in October.
All of these are home developed, this is Provia.
To any of you who picked up my plains photography ebook, check your inbox. I just finished a total overhaul and expansion of it and you get an upgrade. The new one is far more packed with info and photos (at least three times as much text), so I promise it's waaaay better.

Dunes with no footprints were a treat. Until I turned around wanted to shoot in the other direction and can see that I totally decimated miles of dunes with my own feet. Classic dune photography feels, good thing the sunset was also good in this direction.

Did you park your van out on the road or off road?
The sailing stones, in a place where rocks move on their own. It's a brutal tire-popping and very slow drive down a long bumpy road to get here, which luckily keeps this place from getting a million visitors. I only saw a couple tourists in rental Jeeps photographing with ipads (my favorite) that all disappeared a couple hours before sunset. One of them asked me if I was taking video of the rocks moving. If there was one place I was worried about running into herds of photographers it was here but I lucked out.
This was Velvia 50, definitely pushing the limits of dynamic range but it worked. I might develop the Ektar shots later this week.
