Yes, a very sweet smile indeed. Shame it's out of focus
I got these amazing shots today, how do they look?

the corner in the right is a bit of a shame
I think the photo would've been better if it was pointed straight towards them rather than the ever so slight look to the right, could've framed them better in the arches.
that said, it's not a bad photo by any means and I'm sure 99% of couples won't mind any perceived flaws it has one bit

>the corner in the right is a bit of a shame
Came to say this from just seeing the thumbnail.
And yes, with such strong architectural lines around them it really would've done better with them centered in the arch.
The least you could've done is levelled the damn thing - it needs to be rotated a few degrees clockwise.
Wedding photography is no different than sucking 50 dicks at once.
Guys we need a winter thread with hoarfrost covering trees, grass etc.

Gear Thread
New thread for a New Year.
If you have questions about a new camera, what lenses to buy and anything related to gear or wondering about getting into photography, post it in this thread.
Do not attempt to make a new thread for your new Rabal, broken glass and being new. You have been warned!
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here!
And don't forget, be polite!
Previous thread: >>2733290
I've been wondering lately:
Why spend <700 bucks on a dslr when I could invest less or the same in a mirrorless that does the same in a more compact format?
For example, why get a 70D instead of an a6000 and then move on maybe later to an a7, both which have the potential to use a lot of glass thanks to adapters.
I can even ditch my dslr system and move to mirrorless and still use my lenses thanks to adapters.
Just as a hobby, not professional photographer with very specific needs.
>>2734889
For one, focusing speed. The difference is big enough to be annoying even to a hobbyist. No, it's not a professional-only type of thing. You will miss many shots because your camera is taking forever to focus.
>>2734889
I thought the same, but in terms of handling more compact isn't always better
Can't post there >>2732960 so hope it's time for a new one and I'm doing the right thing here :D

there's this thing called google
In 20 years I might afford one.

Shouldn't the award go to the architect in this case? Architecture photography always seemed bizarre to me.
I bought an a6000 about a month ago and have a tiny spec of dust on my sensor. It's not effecting my images but it's bugging me. I tired using a blower to get it off but it won't leave. If it's not effecting my images will it damage my camera or am I fine to just leave it?

You should be fine. I've got an a7r and I have a nasty chunk of dust too. It's just a pain in the ass to have to remove the spot on every single photo. You can always get a sensor cleaning kit, or bring it to a camera shop to get it cleaned if it bothers you a lot. There shouldn't be any damage caused by the dust sitting there though
>>2736601
Use sensor cleaning mode and blower. Works every time in my case.
would anyone be willing to put glitter in this photo... or whatever you desire at your hearts content.

Hey /p/ I found my dad's old Canon AE-1 Program film camera with a 50mm 1:1.4 lens on it. Being a Nikon guy and someone who has only shit digital and paintcan photos, can anyone tell me about it? Is it a decent camera? Would it be good to start film shooting with? Etc?
Oh my gosh I meant to say "shot" I'm so sorry lol
Thanks for support guys

Let's talk about creating a mood.
I enjoy making creepy/unsettling photos, but I'm not very good at it. What are some good techniques for making some creepy stuff? Lighting tricks? Camera angles? Processing? What do you do? What are some of your fears, that, if they showed up in a photo, would make you uncomfortable?
Also, post some examples of your best creepy shots, and your favourite photographers that make creepy stuff. OP is a photo by William Eggleston, who is about the only creepy photographer I know. (Not like Uncle Terry creepy, but like, the photos make you feel a bit uncomfortable for no reason.)
>>2734547
bump for interest.
pic maybe somewhat related?
>>2734549
Yeah, I'd call that somewhat creepy. The weird colours are probably the main factor in that, but the great expression and the necklace really pull it together. (Sorry, I know that was pretty obvious, but I'm just trying to dissect the photo and it helps me to write it down.)
I'm not really sure that weird crop (where her whole elbow is not in frame) is helping the mood or not. Opinions?
eliminate all reflections from eyes
easier to do it in post

A bottle of isopropyl alcohol and some rolling papers with the gum torn off comes to about $3 and in my experience works much better than any swab kit.
However the bigger issue is not being able to see if its clean, a loupe is pretty much essential unless you want to be there all day doing trial and error.
