Okay /p/ so tomorrow I'll be using my cousin as a model. She has a darker complexion and is very short.
I have read through these threads with great intent >>2867161 & >>2867910
But still have some questions:
Should I take a sunlight reflector along (I could use a car reflector because I dont have any equipment besides my camera) as it may be overcast?
She has acne - not a lot but you know with young girls they cake one the makeup - what should I tell her regarding that?
Should she wear a hat/beanie? The weather is cold here right now so I told her that she should wear form fitting clothes and she can take a jacket along which she can take off between shots.
I should always focus on her eyes correct?
We will be shooting in the CBD and I was told in one of the earlier recent photo threads that I should not really put her next to graffiti which could distract (as it apparently did with my friend who acted as a model then) so what should I be aiming for location wise?
Any other tips I could do preshoot when I go to pick her up?
Thanks /p/ and wish me luck

>Should I take a sunlight reflector along (I could use a car reflector because I dont have any equipment besides my camera) as it may be overcast?
A car reflector is going to be very, very harsh. Harsher than you typically want. That metallic finish will create very intense light with very sharp shadows. If you can get your hands on a softer reflector, it'll be better for you starting out.

I'm going to NYC tomorrow for the first time. What should I know about shooting there? I'm gonna be going to the museum and statue of liberty, chinatown, etc. Are there any restrictions or anything that I should be aware of? Thanks
You will mostly have tourists and people on their cellphines as subjects. Just dont be a total dick and people won't even give you a second look
>>2874000
There are no rules in NYC. You can do whatever you want. Some common sense that applies to shooting anywhere in the U.S. 1. Don't take pictures of little kids. While perfectly legal and nothing will likely go wrong other than a chance to get dirty looks I just don't want to risk it. Maybe I'm just paranoid. 2. Most black people are chill and will even be outspoken enough to ask you to take pictures of them and they will pose for you. Some of the best subjects. Their outspokenness can also backfire and...

>or anything that I should be aware of?
I fucking fallen to a new low /p/.
I'm officially now also a night-club/bar photographer because my portraiture and model photography business has slowed down to a halt. I used to pull in three or four sessions a week, with a $2,500 to $3,000 a week income, but now it's down to about two sessions a MONTH with only $500 a week.
Rent at my city studio was killing me so in the past two weeks, I've just signed up with a couple of bars and nightclubs for $150 a session that wanted to fill up their social media pages. So that brings in an extra $450 every...

how many people and photos to make that, OP?
If you're not happy, why don't you try something like weddings or real estate?
So I've seen a few commentators suggest only using a prime 50mm as a way to challenge yourself.
So I wandered around the woods for a while, and tried my hand at it - I'm fairly pleased with results, but I'd love to hear your feedback.
Also, anyone else tried something similar? Pretty tricky to capture a landscape with 50mm I found.

3.4mp holy fuck thats a lot more than anyone needs.
1080p full HD is only 2mp
With 3.4 you can print 11"x14" that can be viewed up close easily.
And you can even print bill board sized if you view from billboard distances.
We need more control and regulation of megapixels. Non professionals don't need more than 6 mp.
When Kodak invented the Digital camera in 1973 they never had this much mp in mind.

So what's everyone working on?
First for is it alright to upgrade to a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera after multiple months of practicing with a Panasonic GF3? Or do I need something else that's not as demanding and complicated to use as the BMPCC to make a slightly more gradual transition into professional cameras, like a Panasonic G7 or similar?
Fuck, I know it would be a big leap to go from a half decade old compact system to something as badass as the Blackmagic, but I've wanted one of those ever since I got into /vid/eo ;_;
>>2840150
You're building up the blackmagic too much in your head m8. If you know the basics of exposure then there's really not much to worry about except how to expose for the expanded dynamic range and color grading the footage in Resolve. Even then you can set it to record more conventionally so you don't have to think about it and avoid Resolve altogether. Anyways, Blackmagic basically designed this camera for DSLR users, so if you really want it, then fine go get it. Really though, I would suggest rethinking...

if you want raw get eos m + magic lantern.
it's so cheap you can get both.
Anyone ever have any luck trying to make your own waterhousing for a camera? I really want to take my camera with me on a kayak but I don't have the money to buy something nice.
>>2873714
Your pic related is seriously what I would do
I mean I would just shoot it without a care since my nikon is weather sealed
But whenever in-water just wrap a rubber on it
Just buy a waterproof P&S for <$100 if you're a digifag or a Nikonos for <$100 if you're a filmfag.
If thats too expensive then you probably shouldn't be risking your current equipment on half-assed homemade water housing anyway.
>>2873727
This, you're going to spend a lot more to replace your current camera when your half-assed DIY attempt fails than you would on a waterproof camera. There's a reason housings are so bulky and expensive.
