Colour is pretty meh, and probably could have cropped a bit tighter, it's graduation stuff not environmental portraiture.
>>

same reason as >>2867166
It's just a thing I tend to do to give photos a sense of place. I always shoot a bit wide, then crop if I change my mind in post.

I did that on purpose (sense of space, open skies inspires hope, blah blah blah) but hate the fringing on the trees. Anyone know of a fix for that? Luckily she didn't notice, but I definitely did and it *kills* me.

Why is there so much space to her right?

Just stop "trying to create a sense of space", it's a portrait. My eyes keep getting drawn to the empty spaces which contain nothing.

The model is fantastic, which is a shame because your pictures are framed like a jackass.

Yes. They're portraits. That's what people want, not a huge blurry amount of fields and trees and background bullshit that is uninteresting.

Protip: when targeting younger clients keep your prices affordable and edit with fast turnarounds, so they have time to advertise you on social media (because you KNOW that's where the photos are going). It's exponential.

try to change their skin tones using HSL. Luminance can deliver nice results whatever the skin

Too much space on the right, it's distracting as fuck, just stop doing that. Again these are portraits, could have framed the shot with less space on the right or have taken a few steps to the right and angled at him to get better composition.

No. Not wide enough. Also, floor space should never be more than top space, with that said it's more acceptable to have a tad more top space than floor space. The guy on the right doesn't have enough top space and too much floor space. That branch is fucking annoying too on the top left.

If anything you could have made them get closer and you could frame their legs out or something. Maybe that would have made this look more gay but it looks pretty gay anyway so.

You have a problem. I'm seriously sick of your shit with the whole trying to create "space" theme you have in all your photos.

A scooch or two to the left would have made this picture, instead you composed to "create a sense of space".

You can't just put people off center and expect the photo to be astonishing. There needs to be something of interest in the space you left open, and it needs to lead to the model. In too many pictures the eye leads away from the model to the blank space and that makes most of these horrible.

>if I like it and they like it
Customer doesn't know jack shit. They're paying you for your dslr quality and to be shot "by a professional". Changes are these are their first photoshoots and they're hypes. Do you think they care about composition when their make-upped faces pop into normiebook and instagrin? No one tells them "oh, what a great PHOTOGRAPH!" Those comments shout "omg love you <3" and the guys that don't know them that well later fap furiously to them in their beds.

These are good enough, but their mama could have taken those pics on your dslr on full auto and get the same results. You have nothing here out of the bland mass of grad photos and this and the cropping is what you feel is missing in the first place.

I love being anonymously mean to ignorant americans on the internet. Take the tip tho and next time you shoot, think about these things you've been said here. Because
>it's cc
>>
>>2867312
Don't give a shit about your shit photos.

>>2867314
You're being completely asinine like stupid dumb monkey nigger. The background in this is actually interesting and not bokeh trees and sky. Also, if your stupid monkey mind could notice- she's square in the shot.

>>2867315
This is a journalistic photo, not a portrait, again you're being asinine. Portraiture is a very specific thing and doesn't include framing photos so you have pointless trees that add nothing to the photo taking up half a frame.

>>2867316
The flag works within the rules of composition unlike having a random light or branch off to the side.
>>
>>2867314
On the right where the tent ends the cut into the backround is interesting. The blurred backround introduces a new setting, context if you will. On the lower left there is texture in the props that add to the composition (more context). And right on top of the props the curving line in the tent fabric leads to the subject, and on the top left the empty headroom gives a sense of puzzling and troubling thoughts, hopeless and tired wondering.

>>2867315
The folks' heads cut the picture in half, which is against the rules but aides the composition. From the top right, the row of houses point the eye to the head of the pointing boy, and his extended arm continues that line very naturally, pointing where the eyes will be lead, to a power point of a cut in the thirds lines.

>>2867316
Very traditional portraiture where the flag adds extremely clear context: This is the head of the united states. Had it been excluded and replaced by a white wall, this image would be nothing. Just enough headroom.

Eat it and learn fucker. Why must you be this stubborn? Why?
>>
>>2867182
The empty space is shit because the girls want pictures of themselves in their grad stuff, not whispy weat stalks and sky. They are the focus, but you have 30-40% model and 60-70% other.

What your missing is these people want to print them out and set them around the house/office. When you actually have the physical photo in a picture frame, if you don't crop close then the model appears tiny and insignificant. On a computer screen you're seeing everything, in a picture frame you have a very small model. Customers want to see the models. Remember who's buying and why, what are the uses they seek.

Consider portrait crop to remove the trees on right and a little of the brick on left.
White balance is too warm, bringing it down makes the grass and trees green instead of yellow.
Bring down the saturation and vibrance on the background, but not on her skin.
>>
>>2867162
>Too much headroom
google image search professional headshot photographers and notice how close they crop the head. There's a whole art to composing the portrait headshot and it takes time to learn because it's not instinctual. Most people shoot too high and leave too much room above the head, instead of bringing the camera down a foot where it needed to be to get a good shot.
If you catch yourself doing this, then shoot wider and fix it in PP with crop
>>
>>2867164
crop tighter, fix colors, go colder on white balance temp

You nailed the light on the face, particularly the eye and lip. One of your better shots.
I don't like the filter you use, it's doing bad things to skin tone where the skin is the same color as the highlights in the background. No bueno.

rotate your verticals straight, Pablo. This room is slanted to the right and the landwhale only emphasizes the feeling of lopsidedness

Don't be obtuse, you fucking smartass nigger, OP.
Anons are trying to help you instead of tear you apart, which would be very easy to do.

Look at The photo

The purpose is to tell a story, the ragged tent and the exposed elements show her living condition

You are beginning to sound like a art school drop out
>>
>>2869499
That is a really shitty crop right there.
>>
>>2869561
I'm not going to hold your hand and baby you, OP. Don't whine about "really shitty crop", you need to learn to flap your wings and leave the nest, little bird. I took the time to show you how much wasted space you left in the shot, now it's up to you to make the final decisions of how you're going to crop.

No fuck you
it looks bad.

you are implying your picture is the suggestion. if you post shit like

don't go around editing op's picutres if you don't know how to.

most of the re-edits have been pretty good, but I think the original looks better here. Maybe a touch off the top, but you cropped in way too much here.

Don't listen to this guy. This crop is good. If there was less space on the side she's facing, there'd be no room for her to "breathe" I guess. Ya feel?

It would feel claustrophobic

crop by standing closer. don't fucking crop in post. these people are retards. also, she'll never go anywhere with a degree. have her clothes off and she'll make more from one of your photos than she'll make at whatever food service job she has now and will have from now on.

holy crap this is a bad crop

how do you crop things like this and think they look good? you really need to get out of the basement and develop some more human taste. only an alien or cave troll could think these crops were more aesthetically pleasing than the originals

i feel claustrophobic and nauseous looking at your editing.

you really arent qualified to be giving advice to this guy. go work on your own skills first.

That pose in the high grass is looks retarded. I can't see her legs enough and that makes the whole image weird.
Also the crop is shitty.
>>
>>2869573

I would have taken a little more off the bottom and left more on top. The cap is being thrown up and you should leave space for it to move into.

It's a graduation photo, you wouldn't want to crop out the logo on the stole.
>>
>>2875134

That is why two versions, although it would also depend on the client. I would be more inclined to leave the logo if it was promotional material for the school and crop it out to get a tighter pic if it was for the graduate. In the case of the graduate there would likely be several other pics in the set that show the logo and lettering so I don't think it would be as critical to include it.

A longer 3/4 portrait crop would also work, the positioning on her right hand and the white space around it is pretty good.
>>
>>2869535
Wow that's shit.
