its literally over priced film for the old style polaroid cameras
they have just used that marketing term because they think they're real edgy

What does /p/ think about /p/eter Lik?
Was this Nigga nigga an inheritence baby or what? Even if that Phantom shit did NOT sell for 6.5millie and has NOT sold an almost half billion worth of prints this nigga owns 20 million dollar houses and like 20 art galleries or some shit.
>>2756080
He's talented but not exceptionally so. I know some 14 year old Instagram landscape photographers that could be on par with him if they had the capital for travel and gear
Shrewd businessman
Peter Lik, like Uncle Terry, like most successful photograhers, is all about marketing, sales and networking.
Financial success in photography has very little to do with talent, and is mostly about establishing a brand and making people want your work. Or want to work with you.
Peter Lik isn't horrible, it's tough to do really large work. If you haven't been to one of his galleries, I highly recommend it. Get up close and personal with some of his large prints, the quality of the print and framing is off the charts.

Find actually interesting stories that people would care to actually look at, rather than just being proud of yourself for having the guts to shoot a photo of someone's back.
Get close enough that your subject is obvious in the frame.
Put your camera on one of the priority modes do you're not fucking with your camera while missing shots.

I just have one: Don't shoot street photography.
Never buy M42 lenses
Low contrasts no vivid color,no AF
Only carl zeiss never beat old Minolta AF lenses
You should never buy any M42 lenses
Someone might say ,Nostalgy could be taken
But
It just only depends on circumstances and location
cus you never buy M42 lenses

Are there exceptions for the /p/oor anon? I have a 28mm and 50mm on an e mount adaptor and they work ok under the right settings
Looks like someone's disappointed with their banged up bargain bin Tamron not being up to par with that stock photo quality they saw on the internets and needs to blame something for their ineptitude!
>>2755742
If you already own and use them do you seriously need external validation from a random post online to keep doing so?
>>2755740
Being the poorfag I am and also owning a dead system (Samsung NX30) with no outstanding lenses, I'm using a Yashica ML 50/1.4 C/Y and quite satisfied with the results.
I also had Super Takumar (55 1.8 the older one) and other M42s, and for their price they did pretty well. The lack of AF is a matter of getting used to, of course it is a dealbraker in some situations where you need a lightning fast AF.
are there any benefits in shooting in black and white directly in the camera and not doing it in Lightroom?

Would this be a good camera for general use for someone that knows nothing about photography? What's the difference between $300 vs $2000 cameras? Thanks in advance.
If you don't know what the difference is then yes, it will be sufficient.
first, check the gear thread.
second, bridge cameras are shit. for starters this LOOKS like a dlsr, but that shit tier lens is fused to the body of that thing, meaning you cant change them. for $250, you could get a used T2i and a 50mm 1.8 for that.

"The best camera is the one you have with you."
What do you guys carry on you on a normal day?
One where you aren't specifically going out to shoot.
Do any of you guys actually carry a point and shoot with you all the time? Are there any benefits to this other than the obvious quality and control improvements?
Is it really that much of an improvement over a modern cellphone camera, such as an iPhone 6s?

I generally have my backpack with various things I need and for carrying shopping with me all the time. I keep my GR in my coat pocket and normally have whatever film camera I feel like shooting in my bag.

iPhone.
I'd imagine some compact camera could be nice, but having a GR and an iPhone is a little redundant in terms of focal lengths. Something like an X100T would be more useful in that regard, but then you start leave the realms of pocketability.
I definitely agree with the opinion that smartphones have largely made point-&-shoots obsolete, as the difference in quality has reduced so much. One of the only situations that I do take a digital p&s with me is when I want a camera I can pass round people - I find that if you give an 'actual camera' to somebody, they will shoot differently than if you just tell them to take some pictures with their phone. As an added benefit, even something like my tiny Nikon P340 has a better flash than pretty much any smartphone.
Nowadays I do tend to carry my Klasse S whenever I'm wearing a coat with a pocket, but for fun rather than quality-compared-to-my-smartphone.
