Yeah, first off read the sticky and resize your shit.
Secondly if you're only going to post two pictures then don't create your own thread, post in the Recent Photo Thread next time.
As for the actual photos, it seems like you got the trails down but you really need to work on composition/subject choice. A good Astrophotograph needs a balance of interesting sky and an interesting subject. Both of these are boring as shit in terms of subject.

What is the best small, compact camera for traveling? Budget is around ~$1,500. I want something that you actually want to take with you and shoot pictures with. My DSLR feels too big.
Is it pic related? I'm afraid I'll be limited by the fixed lens but I mainly plan on street photos with the rare scenery/landscape photo
>>2748272
Original A7 / A7r with a 35mm? Or is that too big?
Fuji X Pro 1 or 2, or X100t if you wanted to go smaller. Fuji cameras feel great to take photos with, especially the X Pro, very tactile and familiar especially if you're accustom to older cameras.
Obligatory Ricoh GR (it really is a good camera though, replaces my DSLR most days)

hey /p/ would this lens be good for night sky photography?
There's a gear thread for this.
It's a very nice lens and it's certainly fast enough. It might be longer than you want, though, especially if you're using a crop sensor, which you most likely are.
Lousy. Comas out the ass.

I got some pretty ok shots on a kit Canon 550D 18-55mm lens at F3.5
Lack of tripod messed it up, but the steady ones showed some good star exposure... you should be ok I think

i was hoping for some advice. my photographer father is retiring and has asked me to help him sell some items. including cameras, lenses, and bags etc. would anyone recommend anything besides ebay? he has a Mamiya RB67 and Pentax 645 just to name a couple of the more valuable items. thanks for any help!

That's clean OP, run some film through it and show us how it looks. I'd save it if I were you.
What are your favorite film rangefinders? I've never shot with one before but I'm thinking about picking one up. I found a good deal on a leica m3 but it's still super expensive. I've heard that they have the best viewfinders but I could also save some money and get a Canon P or Canon 7 for a fraction of the price. What do you think?

honestly, if you're planning on shooting with only a 50mm, you can't get a better option than the konica iiia
-great lens, based on the zeiss planar
-outstanding build quality
-very compact, more so than any interchangeable lens rangefinder
-1x magnification viewfinder, very bright, meaning focusing is a breeze, and you don't even have to close the other eye
-dirt cheap compared to other high end rangefinders because hipsters haven't learned about it yet (I got mine in near mint...

I shoot an M3 and a couple screw mount Leicas, the M3 is a tank and lovely to use. That said I enjoy my IIIf for its compact size.
Leica for a film rangefinder, in my opinion is always your best choice because of it's resale value. You will always get your money back when it comes time to sell and sometimes make a little. Prices though range from stupidly expensive to relatively cheap, the same goes for repairs and you will need repairs.
The best viewfinder I have ever seen on a rangefinder was on a Zeiss Ikon. Lovely camera but feels a little cheap to me for the price.
of the cameras I have owned or shot
-Minolta CLE (also Leica CL) - cheap entry into the M mount system
-Leica IIc and IIIf (screw mount variants) - fun compact, can be frustrating having a separate viewfinder and rangefinder
-Leica M3 - beautiful camera that can be expensive or cheap, repairs can be expensive. .91 rangefinder only has lines for 50,90,135
-Leica M6 - had one for a month or so, .72 finder was nice and versatile but it didn't offer anything my m3 didn't.
-Hasselblad x-pan - really neat camera, the panoramic view is great and everything looks like magic with it. I cant justify the price though.
-Zeiss Ikon - best finder - best meter - feels like a Nikon FE
Honorable mention
Rollei 35 - not a rangefinder but interesting little camera. easily pocketable with a great lens (I had the Tessar)

fun to shoot with sometimes, film that isn't made anymore (only made by impossible project) is way too expensive. Find one that uses Fujifilm FP-100C and it's not too bad
Polaroid Cameras!
They are fun and worth it if you do your research.
I stick with B&W 2.0 from the impossible project. Their color film is not quite perfected but they upgraded thier color stocks.
Best results with proper lighting. I wouldn't waste your film indoors.
If you want something super reliable and cheaper gow ith FUJIFILM INSTAX WIDE. Also, lomogrpahy has their version coming out soon
Also, don't waste your film at night.
Make sure to clean your rollers or else they will distort your shots. After loading film, don't bother taking cartridge out. Your polaroid will auto eject(and waste your film).
