Sorry OP but slightly related - do dogs have blood types? Like say my dog lost a lot of blood for whatever reason - would she need specific dog blood? Do vets have backup dog blood?

No idea. All I know is my dog started losing blood throughout the night and we weren't able to get him to the vet fast enough in the morning (further away).
What I would assume though is that your first priority would be to stop the bleeding, just so that he doesn't lose more than he already has. After that, it's a coin toss.
Any dog owners here that have had a dog with swollen prostate? Vet says it's common for older dogs and he should be neutered, but I don't like the idea of castrating my pet.
Anyone have had this issue? What did you do?

Neutering is not castration and you should have neutered your dog before a year of age. You are now forcing your dog to suffer because of some kind of misplaced "manly" psyche.
Neutering does not affect dogs negatively, and you're a fucking retard if you think it does.
Is your dog also a pug? If it is, just stomp it out. Easiest solution to all pug related problems.

I'm not forcing him to suffer, I discovered the symptoms just yesterday and today I went to the vet. If castration is the only way I'll do it, but I wanted some other opinions that's why I came here.
Also, plenty of vets don't recommend early castration, and my dog didn't have any problems until recently.

Picture not related, but last week in the milking parlour we had number 410 decide to pop back to see us whilst we were milking. She stood in front of the stairs that leads down to the clusters and when I went over to move her she proceeded to lick my face- all she wanted was a good head rub and she was on her way!

We're based on an old agricultural college, we have cows, sheep and pigs in our small holding (alongside a plethora of small furries/reptiles.)
The vet school on site and the animal science classes uses them, as well as I believe we do research on animal's here somewhere on site.
We also have an onsite dairy with robotic milking, although that's mostly privately run so the students don't have much to do with it.

I need some help.
I got this tank off a friend about a week ago. It is my first tank.
I have a tetra pf 10 filter an aqua coulture bubbler and a heater that keeps my water between 72°F and 74°F. I used start right both times and let the set up run for roughly 5 hours prior befor adding my fish each time since start right apparently works quickly/instantly and i feed the fish tetra brand goldfish food 2x a day.
Bought my first 9 fish from walmart (8 gold fish 1 sucker fish) 1/2 died over night. Went to walmart had them replaced. Put them in tank too. All...

Learn about nitrate cycle, add fish slowly, starting with the wussiest. Tap water kills your life-sustaining bacteria, with the chlorine.
Take a little bit of piss, just like a soda-cap full, and then add it to your water. You have at least a week to wait and research your new purchases. No ten gallon can make 9 fish happy. You can'tr have One goldfish in that tank. They have no stomach so they poop ammonia like crazy.
Goldfish are really pond fish. Get tetras or platies or guppies or something....

I planted pic related in my high-school botany class, and recently came to find out that my stepmom took care of it for the last 5 years. She was nice enough to give it back to me, but since she had it in the same pot as a much bigger plant, it required repotting.
I got some cactus soil and have been letting it be for a few days to take to its new environment, but recently the "stem" and base of some of the upper leaves have turned a bit red as you can see in the picture. I'm wondering if maybe the soil was too moist and it's over watered?

I've had this pup for a year and a half. We are 100% sure that she's part pit (according to vets and everyone we ask), part something. The question is, what is the other something? She's very energetic, fast, loves to run and play. She likes to stay with us, will run ahead, then come back and check in, run behind, then zoom back past us (whenever off-leash either hiking or dog park). Very smart and learns quickly.
I first thought part border collie due to color, intelligence, and sticking close to us tendencies, but now thinking maybe just part whippet.
I vote for pitbull x greyhound or whippet. Profile view I see sighthound, but head on she has that boxy bully head, jowls and ears.

I recently adopted a dog that has passed hands a few times. She was originally adopted by my friend's grandpa, but he died a few years ago.
My friend took care of the dog out of love for his grandpa, but isn't really a dog person. I lived with him and the dog for a few years, and we both decided it would be best if the dog stays with me when I move out.

State law says I have to have the rabies shot administered by a vet, but nothing else. I was looking in the supply catalog from valleyvet and stumbled across the dog vaccines and they are significantly cheaper than the vet, as well as saving me an hour drive each way.
I've raised livestock all my life, so giving shots is something I'm fine with and experienced at. what does /an/ think about vaccinating your pets yourself?

I have always given my dog heartworm pills because we live right next to a swamp. The old timers around here laugh at me saying im wasting my money because its an outside dog and the heart worm pills wear off eventually and my dog will still get them.

Ball (Royal) Python is a good choice.
They are very docile and don't grow too large.
