47 KB,
Just bought myself a Maine Coon kitten. Its a solid blue and will likely look similar to this image when fully grown.

Fuckdamn this is the best kitten I have ever owned. Do these cats stay awesome as they get older?

I would love to get one of those massive cats too...
I've seen one for real few months ago, a chick was taking it for a walk, while her friend next to her had a tiny dog... it was almost surreal.

Problem is that they are breed cats, and probably over expensive... does yours have a pedigree? How much does that little life cost you?

Hey, /an/.

Don't come to this board very often, but I thought you guys could help me out.

I'm thinking of building a badass aquarium. Practically an underwater ecosystem- full of a bunch of different organisms.

Any suggestions for awesome plants, fish, or anything else I could put in there?

I live in the U.S. and am willing to blow about $1,500.

How big of a tank?

Aquariums are expensive, dawg. From their setup to maintenance.

What does /an/ think of aquaponics? I'm planning to do this soon (indoors) and It seems very interesting

aquaponics - a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purify the water for fish

DONT DO IT OP!

I tried it indoors with a 400w lamp and 50 gallons. With a week my appt smelled like shit and was humid enough for mold to become a concern...took it all apart just after that.

Aquaponics is very much an outdoor activity.

Hi /an/

Any of you own bird feeders? I'm trying to get small animals to fuck off from mine but want to see if you guys have any ideas which have worked for you that don't involve violence.
I'll probably buy chili pepper and mix it in with the seed (google has provided some numbers for that) but maybe you guys know some better methods

Small animals? Just get a baffle and put the feeder somewhere away from other points of access.
>>
depends on what kind of animals they are, chili powder could harm the birds.
is it hanging from a tree or on a pole, if there are squirrels and its on a pole. grease the pole. if its ants and hanging from a tree, try to get some fishing line and make sure it is strong and slick so it can support the weight of the feeder and so the ants will have nothing to climb on

Thinking of selling my cat, what's the best place to go to do this? Is it allowed on Craigslist? Don't really care what they do with it afterwards as long as I get a good price.

Why would anyone want to buy your cat when there's always free kittens around? If you do go Craigslist, you have to call it a "rehoming fee", and pretend like it's an adoption, you can't say buy, sell, or price.

four or five days ago, the vet told me my seven-year-old cat, alex, had distemper. unfortunately, we didn't have the money for him to stay at the vet, so he gave alex some liquids and stomach medicine, then sent us home with antibiotics. he had a fever of 105, was vomiting, had diarrhea, and refused to eat or drink. vet told us that his chances were about 50/50, and to make him as comfortable as possible. the stomach medicine stopped the vomiting and since then we've been nursing him with a syringe, giving him water and chicken broth every few hours. I was able to get rid of his fever, (as of a few minutes ago, his temperature was 101.7) and yesterday he started eating and drinking a bit on his own. anybody had experience with feline distemper before? have his chances improved any? also, if he does recover, how worried should I be of him getting sick again from bacteria in the house? I plan on throwing out clothes and towels he's rested on while sick, and bleaching the surfaces in the house, are there any other precautions i should take? can't find much shit about this online and vet's out of office until monday. pic related, that's alex, about a year ago at friend's house

friendly reminder if you are scared of any terrestrial invertebrate (especially spiders) your a quivering pussy. also arachnophobia is curable in even the most extreme cases, those who refuse to face their fear of spiders are just lazy. Real animal lovers love ALL animals.

arachnophobia is curable, even the most intense cases, I'm talking living your life with a broom by your side constantly to poke for webs can get over it in a day with exposure therapy.

One of the reasons I hate "arachnophobes" so much is not only cus all life is beautiful and those who refuse to respect that are disgusting. but also as someone who has dealt with an extreme phobia that very near ruined my life multiple times. I didn't get the choice to puss out. I had to deal with it. suck it up pansy.

So there was a very young kitten in the road today, so I pulled over and took him home. I planned on giving him to a no-kill shelter, but they won't take him until Monday. He's very frightened and hisses and will try to scratch/bite me. I've put him in a large box with food and water and I plan on leaving him alone for a while.

What should I do to calm him? Id like to get him to where he isn't a vicious little asshole before I give him to the shelter on Monday/Tuesday.

Pic related, he's a little cutie. He has no tail though, what breed is he?

Good service dogs?

I want to adopt a puppy and train him as a service dog. Ex military/ptsd/etc

I really like the way Brindle dogs look... I prefer larger short hair breeds like mastiff.

What are your suggestions for breeds to look for? Also I'm male, want male dog as well, that shouldn't make any difference though right?

Also can anyone identify pic related, and would it be a good service dog?

Also a big fan of huskies... I live in the Midwest though so summers are very hot. And I like border collies personalities... Very loyal. Just wish they were a lot bigger
>>
by the time it finished proper service dog training half it's life would be over.
>>
Honestly you're better going through a service. Not every dog is fit for service, no matter how much love and work you put into then. Even professionally raised dogs sometimes flunk out right at the end because they couldn't cut it. If that happens to you, what then? You've already grown attached and spent a long while without a proper companion. Are you just going to start over?

There are plenty of groups that train dogs specifically for PTSD-afflicted soldiers, including ones that'll help subsidize the cost. If you just want a pet, go on your own. Otherwise seek them out.

Also a husky is excitable, loud, and stubborn. Not really service dog material.
