I've been considering getting one for a while now. A lady in my town breeds them and sells them for $10. I'm aware of the setup they need and that's ok. I just feel like there's something I should know that might make me reconsider..

I've had one for 4 years.
Don't put two together as babies or they'll eat each other.
Care is pretty easy. They like cold water, but not freezing cold. I haven't ever had to buy a water cooler just by placing the tank under my cool air vent. As long as you have a good filter, you don't need to do water changes too frequently. When you do the water changes, it's best to leave some of the old water in the tank so it doesn't recycle.
They won't ever care about you, but they can tell the difference between you and something else. Mine follows me when I come into the room because it knows I can give it food. It doesn't follow the dog or my sister, since they don't feed it.
It should be fed every other day, but don't panic if you forget because they have slow metabolisms.
They feel very slimy and squishy, but you shouldn't hold them outside of transferring tanks.
They often bite your fingers because they're dumb and think they're worms/food, but it doesn't hurt. They don't have teeth. Their mouths feel like suction cups.

In EU we have a similiar bogus situation with Apple/Mystery Snails.
Some guy released a huge plant eating species of the Pomacea genus in Spain and it turned out to be invasive. So the EU outright outlawed the whole Pomocea genus, even the ones that are normally kept in aquaria and don't bother plants.
You are not allowed to sell, give away or breed Pomacea, so it took me almost 2 years to find someone that still had some Apple Snails here in Germany.

My girlfriend's cat is fucking obsessed with biting and chasing after hands and toes specifically. I don't know why or what triggered it, but she's quickly bored by toys and is like addicted to chasing, clawing and gnawing on hands and toes. If she sees your hand or foot move or wiggle, she'll chase it. Her whole family and I have been trying to stop her by ignoring her and stopping playing with her when she does it, but it's only gotten worse. It's like her favorite thing to do.
She's about what months old, we (my girlfriend and I) found her abandoned out on a road in the country. We found her when she was app. a month old, and she's healthy, active, and eats well. I think one issue is that she was taken away from her siblings too early and never learned how to play nice.
She doesn't bite or scratch too hard, but it's still enough to leave marks and yank on the skin a bit. She's a sweet cat otherwise, and likes to sleep on your lap and be petted, but will only put up with it for so long before she wants to chase your hand.
They are considering getting her de-clawed because of this, which obviously is something I advised against. How in the fuck can we get her to stop.

As soon as she starts getting too rough, blow in her face. Just a sharp puff of air will make her pause. Pull away so that she also understands that 'play time' ends as soon as she starts biting/scratching.
Also invest in some toys and actually play with her. Play for her is really just practice for hunting and she needs an outlet for the energy and instincts. There are a variety of toys you can look through to find something she'll enjoy. Set aside some time during the day for 'playtime' and play with her.
