25 KB,
I live in an apartment at the moment but I want a dog.
I would walk it everyday and most likely I would go running with it
But I go to school everyday and I would not want my dog to get lonely and sometimes I cant go outside with him at all
I would like something like a Labrador Retiver or a Borderline Collie looks wise.
Wat do?
The dog should be as low maintenance as possible

>low maintenance
why wouldn't you be able to take your dog out for at least an hour every day?
>>
>>2053803
I could do that, I never said I wouldnt
The main problem is that I live in an apartment and I am not sure if that is enough space for my dream dog.
Some days I would need to keep him alone in the apartment
>>
>>2053786
Sounds like you shouldn't get a dog if your first ideas for an apartment dog includes fucking border collies and labs. I mean, have you really done ANY fucking research aside from Google image searches to check what looks cute?

355 KB,
Please help. As each day passes I become more aware that I want a dog. Sure, it feels different to cuddle a dog than it feels to cuddle a human, but I just want companionship. But I am poor and at work the majority of my life. When I come home I'm not in the mood for playing because I'm so worn out, so I just sleep until it's time to work again.

Yet I want a dog soo bad. Is there any way to compromise without actually getting a dog? And please don't suggest virtual pets. Tried that before.

Of you absolutely can't stop yourself at least adopt an old dog or cat from a shelter. One that is low energy and doesn't need much maintenance. Cats require less work and like to snuggle too but if you are dead set on a dog, at least let it be old so it won't be as miserable
>>
>>2053621

Kudos on realizing that your financial situation and lifestyle are not suitable for dog-keeping. I commend you for realizing that an animal is a real being with feelings and not just a lifestyle accessory.

>Is there any way to compromise without actually getting a dog?

If you spend all your time working just to stay afloat, I'm not really sure that there is.

There are dog foster programs where you take care of a homeless dog and socialize it so that will be ready for its "forever" home, but if you work most of the time that probably wouldn't work out.

You could volunteer at an animal-shelter, but that's work (work you don't get any money for, at that), and if it's a kill shelter you'll be surrounded by healthy dogs basically being executed every day. If you see animals like I do, that's going to be emotionally devastating.

If you can stomach being around dogs getting killed, or if there's a no-kill shelter near you, maybe you could volunteer if you can spare the time. That might be a reasonable compromise.
>>
I realise you work a lot, but how about volunteering at a shelter if you have the chance?

How about offering to walk any neighbors dogs in the evenings? Walking will start out as a chore, but it will give you more energy and might get rid of that tiredness after work.

Are some people just retarded or something? I pick up after my dog if she shits, but what the fuck did she expect me to do? Hose down the urine so it seeps deeper into the ground?

hose that bitch down.
no not the dog
>>
Ever think of keeping your shit bag away from other people's property?
>>
Diluting it does actually help, yes. Dog urine can wreck a lawn because it contains far too much nitrogen and it kills that spot of grass to have undiluted dog piss dumped all over it. However, if you pour water over it, the nitrogen is diluted and washed into the soil, which not only prevents damage but actually helps fertilize the ground once it's not so concentrated. Or you could just keep your dog off other people's property.

So I actually forgot this happened till a thread on /x/ has something about ocean creatures and it jogged my memory. Happened really late at night too, so I was pretty tired. Anyway, I copied this from the other thread.

I'm pretty sure my fiance won the lotto the other night and saw a giant (alive) squid get washed up on shore after a sneaker wave almost got him and his buddy.

We have private beach access and they took the dog out for a night walk.

His buddy said the water didn't sound right so they ran upstairs and sure enough, ten foot wall of...

Eh, I know my fiance pretty well. I had to practically drag it out of him because I could tell he was freaked out by something and he wasn't telling me what. And then after he said that his buddy said himself they shouldn't say anything to me because I wouldn't believe them and would think they were making stories up to mess with me.
>>
>>2053443
>>2053445
Of course, I'm not saying it was some crazy sea creature or Nessy, I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to that stuff. But I do believe he saw SOMETHING, and I'm just curious what that something was taking into what is most likely with the known animals that we've already discovered. He have proof that giant squids existed, so I'm just wondering if that's what it COULD have been, seeing as I really wonder what else could have fit the description.

Why do people say cats are smart? I seriously don't understand this. You ask "What do they do that's smart?" and cat people say "Oh, they don't do anything because they don't care about you." That is a lie cat people tell themselves, while at the same time insisting their cats love them.

What about for the cat's own benefit? Do they always go to a quiet room to scratch the furniture sneakily, or just start tearing up whatever couch right in front of you? Will they try to get the leftover chicken off the counter, or sit next...

My cat does all of these apart from the toy one because she doesn't have any toys
>>
>>2052711

coincidence or intelligence? a dog will do those things with 100% consistency and undeniable intent. maybe your cat just likes a certain couch or is allowed on the kitchen counters so they don't know they're being sneaky (in which case you're the type of person I never want to visit).
>>
>>2052709
Cat's are not smart, but they can make a 2-step decision that doesn't only profit them.

The same night that my cat snowbell was dying he wouldn't stop meowing until he was in bed with my mom.
I never really bothered with checking out what the fatass had, but he couldn't move at that point so I just carried him to her and he shut up.
Yes, he was still quite alive when I dropped him off, and he was dead by morning. I'd say that is affection. I'm pretty sure that's a 2 step...

Any ideas on what this boy could be, besides a straight up mutt? Looking to possibly adopt him... depends on how well he gets on with cats. Rescue says he is a basset/lab mix, but I don't know how much basset I see in him.

I like Schistasomes(sp?)
They lay barbed eggs that bore through the bladder, hatch in the water, infect snails, and when the snails explode, drill through swimmers legs and set up shop in the portal veins. Only one male and one female worm live in each host.

Mostly exist in India (poo in loo?) And Vietnam.

Mine is border collie/golden retriever. probably his mom was a BC/shepherd as one of his siblings has shepherd coloring and my pupper also has a black chin.

their ears look the same. does she have a big ruff? does her tail curl up over her butt when she's interested/happy? how big IS she? BCs get to be about 40-45 pounds. my dog now has just broken 50 pounds recently and he's 10 months old so he only has a little more growing to do.

does she have any interesting habits? a high prey drive? an obsession? herding instinct?

Hi /an/, I have a dog that's 9 weeks old, a german shepherd and rottweiler mix. She's very sweet, but I'm having some issues training her using both negative and positive reinforcement. She won't walk on a leash very well, she keeps sitting and laying down, and she won't keep eye contact with me or stay focused when I attempt to train her. I have a clicker and all, but toys and food don't keep her attention very well when I'm trying to teach her commands. Can you give me some tips on what to do when my dog won't even look at me for more than a second?

no puppies that age does very well, it's like expecting a toddler to walk perfectly

>she won't keep eye contact with me or stay focused when I attempt to train her
puppies have the attention span of a gnat, it's not going to be easy. you need to keep your sessions extremely short and frequent. plus rotties are known for being aloof and difficult to train because of it

what treats are you using to train? the place I work at uses hotdogs and cheese cut...

My sessions are short and I used these pet store treats that she liked and were expensive, though I forget the name because I threw the empty bag out already. Or carrot bits. I'm just afraid it'll get harder with time, because she's only gonna get bigger. When did your puppy start working with you a little better?
