1 MB,
I know there is the idea of saving wildlife and all creatures contribute in their respective ecosystems, but I have wondered what mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas contribute to nature other than spreading diseases that kill millions of people and animals worldwide each year. I don't want to sound ignorant, but what effect would eliminating these insects from the Earth cause?

You just answered your question.

I think mosquitos provide food for animals like frogs and shit, and for underwater small predators when they're the squiggly little larvae things

otherwise I don't know senpai

not to mention they serve as a food source for birds, small mamals, etc.

I don't know. Why do we want them back? Wouldn't they just fuck up a landscape that hadn't seen them for several decades?

I'm just here waiting for some live Tiger to be found somewhere in Tasmania or the mainland of Australia.
>>
>>2046486
I don't think so, since their extinction was relatively recent, when you look at the big picture. and considering they lived in remote Tasmania and similar places, it probably wouldn't be too hard to introduce them back

>>2046525
honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a small population has survived under the radar

Objectively, what is the most difficult/complicated to care for animal that I can have as a pet? I'm looking for a challenge. Dogs and cats need not apply. I don't want something that can outlive me though. I'm not saying no cockatoo's but.......no cockatoo's.

they are perfectly fine dogs with a good owner.
the reason they are involved in so many attacks is because it's so common for shitty owners to get a pitbull as a status symbol in their ghetto neighborhood.

I love APBTs and pittmutts. I have worked in a shelter, doggy daycare, grew up with a APBT and currently have a mix.

>Are they normal loving dogs if they're raised right? Is it even true that a lot of attacks are committed by them?
Yes. They are genuinely goofy, loving dogs but your run of the mill dog owner is also an idiot. Most people just think by getting a puppy or dog into the family, it'll just melt in perfectly on it's own. The problems arise when they consider said dog to be inconvenient to them because they can't...

Yes, plenty times.
Usually, she bites me.
So I alpha roll over her. And then she bites again, and hisses and snarls! So I slide her away from me, and then she goes to fetch a toy instead, better that way.

I just got a Dorcus curvidens, and I need help naming him. (I know name threads suck but hey its nit a dog/cat right)

Personality wise, he just trundles along, is very non-aggressive and calm. He likes to hide inside your bra, you can kiss his face and he won't care. He lifts his head up like a dog.

something like Chunk, Fudge, Pup.... names like that, or any other that come to mind?

Hey /an/. got a question for ya.
If it benefits local ecosystems or your animals are under threat, would you be willing to personally kill a living thing?

As much as I like cats, I have shot ferals and feel justified and even good about doing so due to the threat they pose to native birds and small mammals.

I have also shot foxes to protect livestock.

I feel pretty torn on the issue, but if I saw an animal that was suffering pretty badly, I would probably try to catch it and take it to the vets to have it put down.

As for local wildlife...as much as I know its technically wrong, I really don't care what cats do because it doesn't come down to what the cat is doing. It comes down to what the people in that community want, and if they want the environment protected, then they will eventually get their shit together and fund some kind of spaying and...

How do you feel about poison baiting?
>>
>>2051761
Well, often, cats and dogs may stop by other people's gardens and have a bite of whatever is laying around. I wouldn't feel good about killing someone's pet. But ferals are unnatural and should be put down.
