So, I understand why feeding cats wet or raw food makes sense. But I don't understand the people saying dry food is basically "poison" to cats.

I've had 3 cats pass away in my life so far, all between 22 and 24 years old, who have all eaten dry food. I know of at least a dozen more from friends and family who have also had very old cats who only are dry food.

In my family, we take our pets to the vet regularly, and they have never had anything worse than an upper respiratory infection. No UTI, no dehydration, good stools, amazing coats, and lots of energy up until their last few days.

I don't even?

I'm 25 and have been smoking since I was 12 but I don't have lung cancer yet.
>>
>I don't even!???!!!!
You talk like a faggot.

People have lived into their hundreds smoking and drinking every other day. Anecdotal evidence, whether what you're saying is actually true or not, doesn't mean shit.

So my family got this 7 week old Chihuahua, it's cute and tiny. The problem is that she won't eat her kibble. She shows interest in it but just spits it out after licking it. I assumed maybe she had trouble chewing so I wet it to make it softer but same thing happens. At the moment my family has been feeding her this puppy moose but irt causes her to have these liquidy shits like every hour and its getting annoying. She also won't drink any water at all. I have to force her to drink by using a needless syringe. How do I fix this issue? I don't want to just give up on her but at the moment she's getting very tiresome. Iy rather keep the moose as a treat rather than have it be her entire diet, that can't be healthy in the slightest. You guys have any advice?

Just chill out firstly. I have beenin your situation and I was worried silly.

What worked for us was just given the dog 10 minutes with the food dish, if you havent touched it, its gone.

This took 3 feedings to correct.

Also keep some honey on hand to rub into your dogs gums if it becomes ultra lethargic then take it straight to a vet but a dog generally will not starve itself.
>>
take her to the vet that's abnormal
>>
Little dogs should be 10 weeks old before you take them from their mother.

Take the dog back

problem solved.

What's up with the dog/cat binary? They're both very similar animals so why are people expected to like one or the other? When did this binary first appear?

Also, why are dog people always so aggressive about cats and can go on long rants about every single think they hate about cats, while cat people usually shrug and say "dogs are cool, but they're not for me. I just like cats more"? Every person I've met with an opinion on if they like dogs or cats more has been like this

>Not being an animal idort

Even though in my experience it's the other way around for dogfags and catfags. Dogfags typically say 'I just don't get cats' while it's the cat owners that are venomous and pointing out everything wrong with dogs.

Still, if you don't live both dogs and cats, you're a shitter
>>
cat people talks about how amazing cats are because they can shit in a box and they don't stink or whatever but how many "how do i keep my cat from pissing and shitting all over the house" threads are there on any given day?
>>
I have both and will always have both, maybe with a few other types of pets one day.
I also think a cat or dog that lives with other species tends to be more well rounded.

I don't really understand the mindset personally, but I think it comes from learning generalization. If they had bad experiences with one cat and good with one dog sometimes this is enough to sway their entire opinion.
People are also highly uneducated about animals in general therefore are more likely to use sweeping generalizations.
You can see people do this with all sorts of other non-pet things as well like.

Why do people refuse to treat animals equally?

Most people will agree that killing for no reason is wrong. Yet the same people will eat a steak for dinner. Knowing that meat isn't necessary and knowing that animals do suffer, it is our obligation not to kill them.

Simone Weil wrote (this is my own translation from French) : "He [a human being] needs to receive almost the entirety of his moral, intellectual and spiritual life through environments to which he naturally belongs". This "need of roots" seems to be exactly what's hindering us. We take on the traditions of our elders without any questioning, without considering recent discoveries. We would rather close our eyes on the state of the world if that means we can continue living our own life peacefully.

We need to update our moral values. The world as we know it is coming to an end whether we want it or not. For the sake of our planet, we need to look at what's happening and look closely.

into the trash it goes.

we don't treat animals equal because they're not equal.

>killing for no reason is wrong. Yet the same people will eat a steak for dinner
>no reason
>hunger, flavor, dominion over a lesser animal

well your argument is shit, first of all, and--
>meat isn't necessary

--you're just plain stupid.
>>
>>2107739
>hunger
I am talking about industrialized meat production. The people that benefit from it are not hungry, and won't die of hunger if it cesses to exist.

>flavor
Personal pleasure doesn't justify killing. A raper takes pleasure in raping, can he continue? Dismissed.

>dominion over a lesser animal

is it true theyre akin to pups in their disposition? have you owned one before? if so how would you compare the level of work and care required to other pets
>>
They are quite playful like pups to the day they die. They require nearly as much attention and care as a puppy might as well. A lot more than a hamster or rat. They cost quite a bit to keep also.

There are millions of fish here. Each one is a singular conscious entity. You could just have easily been one of these fish- in fact, you probably have a better chance of being born one of these fish, or an insect in a swarm consisting of millions, than you do of being born a human.

Is it so hard to imagine that each of these fish might be experiencing something, no matter how insignificant it may be?

Please tell me I'm not the only person who thinks of this stuff.

I really wonder what it's like to be a fish like this in a great shoal. I hope there are advanced simulations one day where I can hook my brain up to a machine and become a fish for a little while.

I like this pseudophilosophic ruse so much.
You became (you) years after you born.
