Hey, /an/ I really really need your help, I am a "foster mom" for a dog, Tossie is he's name. he is at my place from 7 in the morning till latest 10 and earliest five. From Monday till Friday. He usually comes in the weekend too, but that is more random, like the owners will knock on my door two seconds before leaving, and placing him with me, usually not telling when they'll be home. (i don't mind this though so that is not the problem)
my problem is they don't give me any food to feed him with. i of course feed him myself i own a dog too,...

Tossie really needs to put on weight,
he freezes all the time and it's just very unhealthy for him to be that skinny.
i feed him about 200 grams dog food in the morning, then i feed him throughout the day with human food, like meat etc. so he can put on weight but it doesn't seem to help, i'll again feed him about 200 gram food when it's dinner time. I don't know what the owners feed him when he is home. all i know is that they say he's food is high in protein

On a lot of dog owner forums I've seen the call for an outright ban on fireworks because some peoples dogs get scared.
I'm no expert but I've had dogs all my life and never had one with a bad reaction to fireworks, I believe it's because I don't make a fuss, the dog looks at me like "wtf was that bang" I'm like "nothing" and carry on doing what I was doing.
I see people making pillow forts and putting their dogs in thunder jackets this time of year, and is just look at them with a cringe of disgust.

Some dogs are legitimately afraid of fireworks but still those people are being huge alarmist fags. If you put the animal in a darkened at least someone muffled space it really can't get that fucking terrified and imagining maybe you do have a dog that truly loses its shit to an unhealthy extent, we'll go to the vet and vet and get it some puppy benzos for one goddamn day a year and get over it. I have a dream of someday owning enough of my own property to have a decorative fish pond as large as a public swimming pool. I browse the aq general enough to know that any artificial fish environment needs to have frequent water changes.
So I was wondering, theoretically speaking, could I set up an aquaponics system that will draw it's water from the decorative fish pond, to grow my own vegetables/herbs? Or will the fact that it's a decorative pond, with domesticated fish, live plants, filtration, and whatnot, defeat the entire purpose of using fish waste water to fertilize garden plants? Will the live plants in the pond use up all of the plant nutrition in the water before it ever reaches the garden plants?
When the day comes, I will be using the walstad method for my fish pond, and I will most likely be using fan tail goldfish. And no matter what the length or width, it will definitely be ten feet deep, to prevent the pond from freezing solid in the harshest of winters.

not true.
water changes are solely for nitrate and phosphate export.
plants consume nitrates and phosphates, so in aquaponics water changes aren't necessary or helpful.
what is helpful is using fish and plants you can eat. Tilapia are the most common fish grown. Usually you have chickens eating the plants and insects. Their shit drops through a screen...

I was thinking more along the lines of the fact that since I will have to perform water changes for my decorative fish pond to keep my goldfish healthy, then why not put that pond water to use and rig up an aquaponics system that runs off of the pond water collected during the water changes. So, in essence, the whole aquaponics angle is just a side thing to the fish pond itself.

No, none of that is necessary. How do you think fish ever even existed if it was impossible for them to live in ponds without massive human efforts? It's a pretty simple matter of not overstocking the pond and MAYBE a few lava rock filters if you want to be fancy and a teeny waterfall to circulate. I had a koi pond about as big as a large deep hot tub and it never required anything like that besides a few extraordinary circumstances with duck weed and a goldfish invasion both necessitating a full vacuuming out.
