See the teeny tiny vesitigal feets there. Skinks of this and similar type move a lot like snakes most of the time. Some skink species have even smaller vestigial limbs to the point that they aren't used at all.
Limb loss has happened a few times in lizards. While it is basically the same way snakes evolved, it's an independent event and much more recent.
I want to create a subspecies of wild guinea pigs that could survive the harsh nature of northern Sweden (yes I'm serious)
I would firstly breed the most suitable ones, most likely those long hair sods.
In a controlled environment that I could regulate and let them ease into the environment.
Next would be the food, I'm not sure they could survive on the native vegetation(?) but there's a lot of variations so maybe trying to adjust and see if later generations handles it better.
Another giant problem would be for the critters to survive the harsh autumns and winters, 60-70% of the year is dark and cold (at it's lowest the temperature can drop to -36 Celsius). Hibernation would be very optimal but they would mostly likely not have that ability.
Why do I want to do this? For science of course!!
But the question is where should I start?

Hey /a/, I'm thinking of getting a dog for the first time since I was a kid, this will be my first dog alone so I have no idea what to do and ask for when visiting someone that happens to be selling their puppies (assuming not everyone is a breeder)
Can you suggest some basic questions and things I should be concerned of or observe?
How do you even choose when presented with about super nice puppies? Sounds hard.
I would ask how big they will get, average energy level of each puppy, genetic problems, and the history of the mom and dad.

Vaccines are routine enough to not warrant the use of the vet's time.

I take care of 5 feral cats (mom, dad, 3 sons) and they recently started fighting. They haven't done this before but for the past few days I constantly hear them hissing and growling and attacking each other. Is there anything I can do to stop them from attacking each other?
Also, only one of the sons is fixed. I plan on getting them all fixed but my vet isn't open over the weekend and I have work every day during the week, and since only my mom and the son that's fixed let them pet them, plus they aren't always in my yard

Tegu. It is entirely about their personality. Total goofballs. Too much lizard for me to ever keep as a pet but i'm always thrilled when i get to play with them. What i need is a next door neighbour with a tegu or two that I can babysit every once in a while. That would be perfect.

Asiatic rat snakes of all kinds. Rats snakes in general are my favorite and have been for a good while. Outside of that, I like large boa constrictors. I have little interest in acquiring any reptiles outside of those parameters (though I do love my blue tongue skink :)

My brother got a rottweiler mix from the pound last year. He refuses to buy dog food because he says the dog doesn't like it, so he just feeds the dog the same garbage he eats. He regularly feeds it things like pizza, fast food, and hot dogs. Sometimes he even fills the dog's water dish with soda because he thinks he's giving the dog a treat.
Three days ago the dog stopped eating, and wouldn't even touch the Domino's my bro ordered. The dog was whining and panting a lot and barely moved the last few days so my bro just took it to the emergency...

Organ failure from a ton of fatty foods with more sodium and sugar than a dog was ever meant to have, let alone multiple times a day for a year

The vet will probably get on his ass for you, but in reality he probably accidentally poisoned the dog by giving it too much fucking garlic through the pizza and god knows what else, not to mention all the fat and salt and other crap.
Nothing you can do though except explain what certain foods do to dogs, and if he really wants to feed it something that isn't kibble, he should just look up homecooked meals. Unseasoned chicken breasts and shit.
Dogs can eat a lot of what we eat, but it's usually are spices that really get them, or certain foods that are...

So I found this outside my house and we couldn't figure out what it is. If any of you amazing people could help me, I would appreciate it. We didn't kill the little guy so he is probably still alive, by the way. And I just want the information to satisfy my curiosity because he looks like nothing around here. Perhaps a moth? I don't know much about bugs.
