50 KB,
Since I've started to volunteer at the raptor center, I've looked at the human population very differently. It's shocking how many birds of prey are injured by people every year. If it weren't for reckless human activity, Wyoming might still be alive, Belle wouldn't have been stolen from her nest, and DDT wouldn't have crippled bird populations through the 20th century, just to name a few examples. It's horrible how little respect most people have for nature. I don't know how the human race will effect global sustainability, even if we...

Moreso Americans than anyone else. Who cares about what's going on outside your suburb when it's cheap and easy to get a giant tv to watch Here Comes Honey Boo
>>

the problem is that, yes, americans do more damage to the environment than anyone else, but only because americans are the wealthiest, most advanced society out there.

so if we were going to cull a population we'd be stuck choosing the smartest or the least polluting, because the two are inversely related.

/an/ what are your thoughts on these breeds?

I'm the kind of person who has no friends and is a loner, but I love animals and pets.
I'm getting ready to live alone, and I'm not sure if my old dog will be able to make the journey with me(she probably will). I think I'd like to get a second pet, a cat to keep her and I extra company.
But while I love cats, typical cat behavior isn't too appealing, Bengals seem more "dog" like in their affection, obedience and ability to be trained. Is that true?
Thoughts?

no.

I'd consider waiting until your dog has passed away. It's fairly unusual for cats and dogs to really enjoy each other's company and she may just find it stressful having something as active as a Bengal or Savannah kitten around the house.

Why is it so fucking hard to find a good dog, especially a puppy?

>Go to a shelter and pick an old fucked up mutt, a chihuahua, or a pitbull
>craigslist cunts selling "purebreed akc but lol no shots or papers just trust me that'll be $600 please
>Actual breeders, won't take less than $2000

I'm a complete noob to this shit. I just want a good puppy, not a mongrel, and I don't want to take out a mortgage.

It's not hard to find a good dog, they just cost a lot. You can find some good dogs occasionally at your local shelter.
Why does he need to be purebred or from an actual breeder?

>Why does he need to be purebred or from an actual breeder?

It doesn't. But I do want a puppy that wasn't a product of a redneck mutt who got out of its yard and got raped by a stray so theres a box of free puppies in front of walmart

You might want to look in the classifieds section of your states website, there are tons that I see, with papers and shots some are like $400.
Unless you don't live in the states.

So I might be getting a bottle raised cane Corso pup in a few months, I have no experience with this breed, but I have kept huskies (and delt with all the insanity they produce). What should I expect from a cane corso?
12 replies and 2 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
Don't get a bottle raised pup. Cane Corsos need a ton of socialization because of their cautious nature. Don't get a pup less than 12 weeks old. They NEED that time with mom and siblings to learn how to be a dog.
>>
>>2021428
Stick to huskies, or find a better breeder.
Generally, if you're planning on getting a dog and only do research/ask about it AFTER, you should stick to goldfish. Preferably goldfish from a better breeder than this.

A properly bred Munchkin is not hindered much at all by the short legs. I am friends with someone who shows and breeds Munchkins. I have seen her Munks jump from the floor to the top of the fridge.

>>2020621
Yes. Breeds that have proportionally long legs include the Cornish Rex, the Peterbald and the Oriental group (Siamese, Colorpoint Shorthair, Oriental Shorthair, Balinese/Javanese, Oriental Longhair).

Dogs love boiled chicken the most in my opinion.
Been using it recently to leash train and off leash train my puppy, and she's listening much better than ever.
Don't add anything to it like seasonings.
This is a list of what dogs can't have:

I boil beef/pork/chicken heart, cut it up into tiny cubes, and stick 'em in the freezer until I use them.

Why are shelters charging through the ass for any dog that isn't a pit bull?

>be looking for dog
>all are too big or pit bulls or chihuahuas
>go to shelter yesterday
>purebred 9 month old female cocker spaniel puppy
>ask girl working in kennel how much
>"350"
>their normal small dog fee is 165 what the fuck
>ask why so expensive
>apparently they charge more for "highly adoptable dogs" and shilling bullshit about how the fee pays for shit for "less adoptable dogs"
>say that if the dog didn't cost that much to keep there, they shouldn't charge that much either
>she gets really bitchy when I call her out on it and she says if she doesn't like it then to leave
>mad as fuck and decide to call and tell the manager how stuck up she was
>manager says the same fucking thing
>puppy was gone by the time I looked on their website this morning

I feel so cheated, they're literally punishing you for not wanting a shitty pitbull. Is it even legal to change the fee to whatever they want like that?

>>

this

and anon, if the price was the same for a pure bred golden retriever and a pit bull, you think the golden retriever would be there for any length of time? You think the cocker spaniel you wanted wouldn't be picked up asap? You wouldn't even have a chance at that pupper unless you were really lucky. This also incentivizes people to buy one of the 9000 pit bulls and 4200 chihuahuas rather than go for the meme doge or Siberian Husky puppy.
>>
>>2018431
Your opinion is clearly worthless if you actually want to get a cocker spaniel.
Also what homogeneous can't afford 350 for a fixed/ up to date on shots dog?

My boy died last night and I'm sad now. It was apparently a heart attack and after researching feline heart disease the symptoms seem pretty obvious if you know to look for them, not that the treatments are all that helpful.

I've lost 3 throughout the years, either old age, or tragedy. Nothing I can say will take that hurt and loss away.

I know It hurts and I'm so very sorry for you. It sounds like he went quickly without much pain. Again, sorry for your loss.

My fish died, I'll never have a pet again. I remember sobbing all day, It's fucked up to keep fish in tanks. I don't have time for a new pet though I'd want one like a bunny or kitten, It's not fair to the animal that I can't take care and I also worry a dog might kill me if I forget to feed him someday. So sadly, no more pets for me.
>>
If you're gonna go, heart attack is a good way to go. I was with my old cat when he died from one... it took maybe 2 minutes total, and he clearly wasn't aware or conscious for most of it. It's a relatively gentle death.

Sorry for your loss.

I am considering buying a Shadow Arctic Fox as a pet. Anyone have any insight or advice?

staffies or blue heelers. but since I know I likely wouldn't be able to give a blue heeler the mental stimulation and physical exercise they would want, I probably would never get one unless a senior came into our shelter. my husky/staffie pup keeps me busy enough. ironically, I actually have a slight dislike of huskies, but my parents adopted him on a whim and it was either me or my idiot brother who would've taken him off their hands, he is great though

I also like poms a whole lot, the only small dog breed I really enjoy. I'll probably adopt a red/orange...

So, i'm going on a trip today and i'm going to let my dog alone for 15 days.
The dog will be feed by a friend, other than that she will probably be left alone most of the time.
I still have one hour before i have to go to the airport, anything that i should do with/for her before going?

how old is your dog?
She should eat at least twice a day, remember that your friend must take her out too.
