1 MB,
Hey, /toy/. Been a looong time since I've seen a Hot Wheels thread.

Mind if I start one?

These are my favorite Mint on Splinter cars.

Which of these will be great for tracks?

Top to bottom, left to right

Velocity X HW Prototype 12
Velocity X Flashfire
Velocity X MS-T Suzuka

Speed Blaster (I think)
Overboard 454
Muscle Tone

Splittin' Image Original
Hooligan
Star Spangled '57 Thunderbird

Deora II

I also got a Highway 35 Deora II mint, but opened. Will post pics if you guys want.

Is there a rarity chart for HotWheels?
I seen people go crazy for some new hotwheels that come out, and they buy them all.

I used to work at WAlmart at the time, then those Super Mario HotWheels came out and some dude came and brought every single one we had.

Then when we restock them two weeks later, he was already there, taking a box full of them, before we could put them up.

Are HotWheel collectors this bad?

Also, is is of my first HotWheel, that I got for sending in Box Tops as a...

I'm more of a lukewarm fan myself. I only collect a few select models, like the Fig Rig, Rockster, Humvee, and classic cars new in the Splinters like my OP pic, especially those Veolicty X ones. I also get ones that catch my eye in a really cool way.

The only recent new ones I got were the red rescue Humvee, the Gazella GT, and the HW Formula Solar.

Wasn't there a solar powered Hot Whrels car from 2008?

As they're both owned by Mattel these days, are there any significant differences between Hot Wheels and Matchbox?

So, it seems like every few months there's a thread like this that gets put up. Are there any good tumblr, instagram, general toy related blogs to follow? Feel free to suggest ones you follow and share your own.

Do people follow these for merch/drop updates or just for the cute pictures?

I can understand the toy news and drop alerts but how many toy pics do you need in your life?
>>
>>5636578
Well if you end up following a bunch of good pages on instagram, tumblr, etc. you end up with a fairly fresh feed of good photos to kill time going through. Though personally I'm looking for a good mix of anything toy related.
>>
>>5636578
>but how many toy pics do you need in your life?
Maybe some people enjoy seeing creative toy pictures.
Anyway, who follows just toy blogs? Ideally if it's instagram, you follow a broader range of accounts.

It used to be build your own action figure (the ball joints worked great) which was awesome. Now it's hard to find k'nex man pieces. I feel bad for kids today. I would make gundams and people and have epic battles.

On the left is the cybernetically enhanced antagonist: lost his legs and right arm, and has a strange cross shaped weapon. On the right is generic soldier with a sword. The middle is our hero.

I want Rei and Asuka. Should I go with the revoltech or figma? I keep hearing about Asuka's "floating boobs" on the figma though, is it a common issue?
21 replies and 10 images submitted. Click here to view.

You're kinda SOL as far as good articulated figures go.

The Figmas are very well articulated and come with entry plug pilot seats, but are based on the Rebuild designs, and Asuka is only available in her test suit. In addition, Asuka's tits aren't properly shaped and so appear to "float".

Revoltech did figures of both the Rebuild and original series figures. They are gorgeously sculpted and painted but low on accessories and have horrendous articulation, especially the original series versions. For what it's worth, the few poses they...

Yes, the floating boobs is a common issue and easily fixed, just add sime glue to the side of the tits and press against her chest, fixed.
Figma are the best articukated figures for either.
No proglems with the Rei Figma.

Is there any way to display packaged figures in a classy way, without it looking like a toy store in your house?
I have a bunch of figures I like but they have little play value so to open them is hardly worth it. Others are more interesting when seen in context with the packaging. What say you, /toy/?
Do any of you display carded figures?
29 replies and 6 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
Carded figures are the bain of any collection because they purely exist to be a delivery method and nothing else.
>>
>>5634237
Personally, I feel there 's no point in collecting figures if you're not going to take them out of their boxes, but to each their own I guess. Displaying carded stuff can look cool, but only if you keep it to a minimum, no more than 7 or so at a time. Also, try to keep them from the same line. It looks cool if you have maybe a single wave from one series, but it going to get cluttered if you have a whole wall populated by 7 different toylines.
>>
>>5634237
MIP is actually a fallacy because pretty much any figure that's been in the plastic for more than 3 or 4 years is going to suffer some damage.

thx for the help, should of mentioned im from uk. Is this thing in the picture a sleeping bag? or is it some kind of Japanese specially named bed? I just tried ebay searching "dollshouse sleeping bag" and I couldn't find any sleeping bags like the one in this picture.
This one in the picture looks really comfy but the ones on ebay are flat as a pancake.

Those are Minis, so not what you think.

The futon in picture is called Sumaho (smart phone) Futon, and comes from gashapon capsule, Bit small for 6 inch figures.

I just bought a bag o' Revoltech Neon Genesis Evangelion figures for buck from a thrift store.

Problem is they are coated in sticky ganja resin from the previous owner, which makes them hard to pose.

What's the best way to clean these guys?

Also, post dank memes.

How the fuck do you get resin on your toys? Other than OP pic I guess but even then that would take work

>coated in sticky ganja resin
It's not resin bro. Older Revoltechs with glossy paintjobs (like those Evas) get sticky over time. It's a problem with whatever paint or topcoat Kaiyodo used to use. You can wash them off and stuff with soap and water, but they'll never be completely unsticky. Sorry.
