Is this character destined to never get good toys?
>Hasbro movie line was all gimmicky stuff with no basic figure, the closest of the bunch still having a head swapping gimmick
>Toy Island cartoon line is still gimmicky, focusing on one-off random appearances such as the Rambo parody instead of just a standard yellow suit figure, no villains or other characters, odd concept figures like the movie parody parts swapping line
>Asmus Toys makes 1:6 scale figure, which is mostly good but...

This is probably the best option available for a basic Mask, if you can live with the cartoon appearance. Even the gimmick for the most part works well and still leaves a basic look, only
>giant speaker slots in crotch
>8" tall so won't scale to a typical collection
>rare as all hell, you will be lucky to find one these days
is the Mask an indie-series? I feel like if Shocker Toys was competent, we wouldve got one
>>5776555
Dark Horse technically owns the character, but New Line probably has a major hand in the more popular movie/cartoon version.
If what Asmus said is true, no one can get the license because of some severe legal hang-ups. But it's a shame that the toys that were made were so underwhelming- even worse because the Toy Island figures were generally good, but wasted on gimmicky outfits.
Although the big figure at least scales to Shocker's Maxx properly. Why did this crossover never happen officially back in the day?
thinking about getting a hot toys starlord and replacing the body with a dick less phicen body. will it work?
>>5776041
>dickless
What's the point?
>>5776041
Wouldn't bother.
I own him myself and the outfit is a shitfuck to take off a normal body.
Getting it back on to a phicen would be suicide inducing.
why though
Help me friends, I'm looking for a very specific Optimus Prime. This version is small, maybe 8 or 9 inches in height. I believe he is mostly red, with ball jointed arms and blocky fists. I believe I had him roughly 7-9 years ago if that helps. Any Optimus experts on the board today???
>>5775267
That's very broad. What else do you remember? Paint apps, weapons, etc.
Also, if I were you, if go to the tfwiki list of Optimus Prime figures.
Size doesn't match obviously but "small OP" and 8 inches don't match either.
>>5775272
Yeah im trying to remember, what really stuck out to me was the dark red paint, the size, and the good articulation. And thanks i will check that link out. I cant recall the weapon or other accessories.

It was rather small desu
>>5774613
ah my bad i forgot to resize the 3 earlier pic
Hey /toy/ where can i find cheap 1/6th bodies? Peferably ones that looks sorta like hottoys. I picked up some bootlegs, and while the hardplastic kos are pretty good, the muscular bodies tend to be made of really shitty plastic. Are there any cheaper alternatives i could pick up anywhere? I normally only buy finished products.
anything /toy/?
>cheap
>1/6
maybe headless you could get something for like 60$
>>5775227
yeah, that's the idea. Just looking for a decent body.
I got a busted up Leon bootleg, and I want to get Biker a beefier body, but hot toys is overpriced for what they sell.
What age did you stop playing with toys? I'm not talkinga bout collecting/displaying etc., I mean having games with yourself with toys
I was 17-18 and very embarrassed at the time. Pic related was the last line of toys I played with.
I still play with them, but I was around 14 when I stopped making explosion noises and having a giant toy pile around me.
Now I just play with one or two at a time at my desk while in between games or shows.
>>5774262
Like 7 years old.
I really lacked imagination as a child but i loved interactive shit like transformers and models. Anything static like army men or hotwheels bored me to tears immediately
I stopped playing with toys when I was like 9, 10 years old.
Does anyone recognize pic related?
Was going through my old toy and found this tough bastard, brought back lots of memories.
Still need to find some lost accesories and clean it, looks like it just came back from a very long battle in the desert.

My money's on an early 2000's GI Joe spinoff.

Any markings on the bottom?
>it's such a good figure, they said
>it's highly articulated, they said
How can a toy with 27 POA still be a McStatue this bad? It seems to me they sculpted it as a barely-moving toy then hacked it up and added joints haphazardly. The arms can't be turned straight and the biceps are at this odd 90 degree bend form the shoulder no matter what you do, I actually thought the right arm was assembled backwards until looking at t the joint mechanism. The legs are barely mobile since they only stay...

Yes, they just had no idea what they were doing back then.
As far as not looking like the character, that's just Yamaguchi having some fun with it. He does that. He's also I think friends with Nightow who he has worked closely with a lot since on the Assemble Borg line and on more Trigun figures and stuff, so I imagine they both were just kind of like "what would make this character look really cool as an action figure"
>>5773690
It's still a very cool figure for the time it came out and for the price it cost. At current prices it goes for online it's not worth it but it was damn cheap back then for a HUGE and impressive looking figure.
>>5773690
This guy was an experimental toy that ultimately lead to Revoltech.
I loved mine right up 'till he took a tumble from the dresser breaking his foot and fingers.
After 8 years, I broke the addiction.
>>5773194
Break your skull too
>>5773194
So much wasted time and emotion. Spending thousands of dollars, on things I would immediately lose interest in after getting it. If you truely enjoy the hobby and it's not a problem, great! It can be a lot of fun. I couldn't control myself. I came to realize that I was collecting, because I was unhappy with my life and it gave me a false sense of accomplishment. 3 things helped me break it. Moving, 40k, and ending a bad relationship.
>>5773194
Moving into my friends apartment to help them meant I had way less space than on my own so I sold about 70% of my collection. I now have only about 10% that im hanging on to.
I purchased these guys from a dollar store years ago. How come the most amazing Alien figures were from dollar stores?
because they look like crypto from destroy all humans.
