Original Effect is my favorite figure maker. So I'm going to post the shit out of their stuff. The first few shots will be the stuff that I own. (you can tell by the shitty photo quality...) Then some real promo shots and art work.

Sup everyone. I'm fairly new to figure collecting, only having begun last summer. Over that time I have come into possession of two figures from Medicom's Real Action Heroes line: Annie Leonhardt and Rei Q.

Somethings been in my mind though. What's the best way, short of keeping them boxed, of taking care of and maintaining these figures? I specifically want to know if you guys have any tips for maintaining their clothes. I prefer to take my figures oUT of their boxes and pose them, but I'm afraid that poses where the arms (with Rei and Annie) or the legs (with Rei) bend will result in the material begetting damaged, such as colour wearing off, the fabric tearing, or it just getting irreversibly wrinkled.

i dont think there is a way around this unfortunately

the only conceivable solution would be to buy 2 each one being the mint and the other being the poseable display figure

i noticed my cammys right arm joint becoming loose only a few weeks after having her ... and after only a few poses
>>
>>5320264
There are just some absolutes and inevitabilities in toy collecting that you need to accept. Fabric outfits fray, diecast joints weaken, white paint yellows, direct sunlight damages everything, rubber cracks, and glues lose adhesive quality- those are the big ones. The best way to preserve a figure with cloth materials is to just set it and forget it in a vanilla pose, not futzing with it ever. That's really the only way to get around the inevitability of it all, or at least to impede the process as much as possible. The cloth ones are not really designed for pose-aholics or people that play around constantly, because rather than being just thick globs of painted extruded thermoplastic with high levels of material tolerance, they're just being held together with threads barely thicker than your own hair and done with a level of quality control that reflects a mass produced product.

tl;dr: there will always be a direct proportion of product damage to product use with cloth materials.
>>
>>5320313

Man coming from doll collecting what are you guys doing with your clothed figures that is fucking them up so badly? I've had dolls in outfits displayed for years and the clothing is just fine. Are doll clothes just inherently tougher or what?

What THE FUCK went wrong?

why abandon the good prototype sculpt for one that looks like its from Star Wars Rebels?

stupid decision they realized was stupid after vader and this. The luke after it was pretty okay but it was a start, and now essentially everything since has been top notch.

Okay, can someone explain to me what's with all the BIG action figures hogging the shelves these days?

They're kinda too big & cumbersome for a child to play with normally. Horrible articulation & stiff sculpts really ruin it for collectors. And then there's the cheap paintjobs and brittle plastic they're made of. One good drop on concrete and they'll shatter like glass.

And they're $20~$80 depending on size. That ain't cheap and can buy you more better quality toys.

These jumbo figures and those horrible 12" titan figures are all I see in stock everywhere I go. What happened?

>They're kinda too big & cumbersome for a child to play with normally
No they aren't. When I was a little kid I loved huge toys. there was a massive fuck-off Beast Machines Cheetor that was the best.
>>
The fad is kinda teetering off, really. They were everywhere last year and before, now they're.mostly relegated to a handful of things and are smaller. 18'' or so seems to be the go-to scale. Where as 30+ inches was the thing last year.
>>
Big action figures are all the rage right now, just like they have been in the past.

Don't question trends
Just go with it and try to cash in as much as possible before it dies.

Recently I've been having trouble with payments to HLJ. I pay with my card and it refuses. PayPal claims the bank is refusing. But the bank says they never got anything to ok for payment. And HLJ has responded to that yet. Has anyone else been having trouble paying there orders there?

Nope just payed for an order less than a day ago, have you tried a different card maybe?
>>

Yes. I got a new card recently. The original had a crack in the strip. And it still refuses. Like I said the problem is apparently that the bank isn't getting any notice to ok PayPal.

I do remember him getting knocked out of combiner mode a lot in the original series too. I think it's just his "thing". He's the first gestalt, but he's also the worst at sticking in that mode as his downside.

I just want Bruticus to be available. All thats keeping me from buying is that Onslaught isn't in stock in the places I've checked, and I want to grab them all together. I probably should just cave and get the limb bots though.

I've got an engineering problem here...

I'm making a LEGO LS1.
I've got the crankshaft, timing chain, and camshaft built and connected.
I have valves built, sortof, but I'm assuming the design will probably change a lot soon.

How do I connect the camshaft to the valves from there?

There's no cams on that model, or any official model for that matter. It's a very specific question, not a general question, hence the reason it's in its own thread.

If people want it, they rerelease it or create a version different enough (or a complete update) for people who bought the original to buy it too.
