Where to buy
>GSC Online Shop - some figmas only are available through their online shop
>Amiami - usual place for buying, to some people, shipping is a bit higher due to packaging
>Hobby Link Japan shipping is usual lower, but their prices are a bit higher, private warehaouse is available
>Hobby Search Japan - items stay in stock the longest
>Mandarake - search figma or フィグマ
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid bootlegs, you can spot them as 'Chinese version'
>http://jungle-scs.co.jp/ - Seems like you can fine some good deals here
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection for any offer/deal

The S shape is always good advice though. The basic idea is that straight lines tend to look stiff.

Hello folks, this is the first time I've used this board, so I apologize if a vague-ish question like this is going to piss some folks off, but I've run out of options to find what I'm looking for, thus some advice would be appreciated on what to do.
You see, I've been searching for a particular action figure for a long time, which I encountered when I was a tyke, around 6 or 7 year's old, thus my memory of name related details is a P.O.S. Drug addled father wouldn't buy it for me because he didn't care to. I do however remember these...

Possible LotR Troll or Orc figure?
>>5750507
Possibly, but it was too human, and I'd remember if the label was LOTR. I do remember the brand name's color (hey, I wasn't able to read more complex names back then lol) it was something of a rusty brown color.

/toy/ can any of you recommend a good Swamp Thing statue or figure? Preferably full body, doesn't have to be articulated or anything just well made. Thanks!
The SDCC exclusive is the way to go. It's a little under 10inches tall and other than the leg articulation it's great.
http://www.oafe.net/yo/dcuc_swamp.php
Well now, this is a coincidence, I just got a boatload of the cartoon toyline's figures in. While >>5749990 is very nice, it has rubber flesh that cracks as time goes on, even says so in the article linked. There's a few others, the DC Collectibles line having probably two of the nicer ones(New 52 and Dark), but let me talk a bit about the toyline I've dived back into, made by Kenner.
>>5750003
To start, I'll just go with the two favorites, Snap Up Swamp Thing and Snare Arm Swamp Thing.
The better of the two is probably Snap Up, as his gimmick caused him to have the most articulation of the group, though it's all string connections. Basically, pull him apart and flop him on the table so he looks like just any old pile of swamp dross, then press the button and he springs together into one piece again, ready to take up his rather crappy weapon of a hollow log with finger-flick vine 'snare'.
Snare Arm is the runner up because he's got the good ole bionic commando arm gimmick, where you can stretch it out and then real back whatever you latch his grubby hand on by squeezing his legs together. He also comes with a little trap that's a pretty nicely detailed, basic design, basically flip the upper 'jaw' up and there's a leafy 'tongue' that brings the 'jaw' down again should you press on it. No spring in it though, so it's a little weak, just looks good.
Oh shit, who hyped for micronauts?
Looks like shit, just like most nostalgiashit.
Hasbro has a bomb in their hands.
>>5747518
>not even remotely articulated
>>5747514
I appreciate the true classic nature of the figures, but this is just for SDCC, right? Like, they're gonna update them and shit for the mainline?

This kind of really sucks.

Kid, come back and cry when it hits 78. That's when I started collecting heavily. Yeah, it's nicer when it's 120 per $, but this is still head and shoulders above several years ago.
Anything where 1 USD>100 JPY is good. Means that Japan's import game will be stronger and they won't die.
>>5745702
Yeah but at that time the average import figure was 2400 yen.
now they are 5000+ for a schoolgirl with no accessories and the dollar is getting worse.
Cool Robot Tread. I don't care what they're from, how articulated they are, if they transform or not, or if they're humanoid or not. Just post some cool bots.
Kickin it off with some classics.
One of my favorite versions of RX 78-2 that sadly seems to have flown under the radar.
Bunch from my favorite videogame of all time.

Can someone help me ID these accessories (pillory = the head mount crucifix thing)
>>5749622
They look custom made with real wood and varnish.
>>5749637
Yup, looking at the left one's leg, it's pretty obvious that it's varnish. That's definitely wood glue and they missed a few varnish spots on the corner. The wood grain lines are gundam marker probably.
They don't look TOO difficult to make, but I don't know enough about wood to tell which kind they used. I've only really worked with plywood and particle board at that scale.
>>5749622
They could totally remove their hands from those holes. Immersion ruined.
