Hello. I want to get into meditation/self hypnosis, but whenever I try to relax my head and neck twitch like crazy, sort of like my body trying to "snap out of it".
Is this just my body trying to "wake up" or could it be something more serious?

Hey /adv/, I've had depression, attacks and stuff and the other day, I felt like I broke.
I went limp, felt super light and numb, felt no control over myself, but felt almost a calm feeling while my chest sharply hurt.
Is there a term for what happened there and how concerned should I be? (
I can't afford going to the doctors or anything like that.)
It's been about 2 days and I'm still feeling numb and shakey with occasional chest pain.

It's a form of a panic attack. Seek professional help if it happens again or if the pain doesn't stop. A neurologist once told me that everyone gets one free panic attack in their lives but you have to see a doctor if it happens again.

I got a small problem
Recently i discovered being single is much worse than i imagined and made me feel like shit so i focused on school, my job and working out thinking "If i dont chase the girls this wont be a problem"
Wrong i was, simply ignoring them doesnt fix the problem
Girls go out of their way to flirt with me and intentionally mislead me into thinking they want to be with me just to flip-flop.
Happened a few times now and its really making me...well sad to be honest.

Because someone being better does not take away the fact you were capable of doing something. If all you wanted was to better than someone; you were doin it for the wrong reasons in the first place. Learn to compete with yourself rather than others.

Any former IT people that have gotten out of IT and into something else?
I'm looking to get out of IT and into more of a business role. I'm tired of working in IT (I'm a DBA). So much of IT is being offshored and you don't really have any career prospects besides becoming an IT manager or director.

I'm interviewing for a business analyst and an IT auditing position right now. I could see myself doing either one. Something that still leverages IT skills but allows me to learn business aspects at the same time.
I moved from IT to finance. Well, I still do a lot of technical stuff, it was a good background for the switch. You need to have a real interest in it though and learn about it first.
How do I get my shit together and start a decent life, every 3 months or so everything seems to go down the drain and I get depressed I'm just 19, I don't want to kill myself

Are you actually being proactive when it comes to dating? Because as a male, rightly or wrongly (this isn't a debate about that, let's not derail the thread), you're expected to make the first move. If you're just sitting there, waiting for a girl to come to you, chances are nothing's going to happen. It's not about lowering your standards, it's about actually doing something.

Most likely overrating based on college "achievements" and a factor why you attract fewer people than expected.
Also I'd say it's less of "just wait and you'll find one person" and more of a "just live your life and you might find someone who's compatible" but perhaps it's being overly nitpicky about language.
