I'm basically incapable of doing more than one thing with my life at once. I cannot have a hobby and make it anything less than the focus of my entire life.
It was competitive gaming for about 2 years, then I quit after I finally hit my peak. After that, I went to uni and I am 2.5 years in now.
Well, it's happening again. About two years ago, I became obsessed with spoken word poetry. I spend at least 8 hours every single day writing poetry and performing it in front of the mirror. Poetry is all I think about now; I'll be walking down the street, taking a final, hell... anything, and I'll be thinking about clever ways to rhyme and how I would perform it instead.
The problem? I'm 24 years old now. I'm 2.5 years into uni. For one thing, I don't care about my studies anymore. I study Economics; I am not exceptional at it by any means, nor do I enjoy it. My grades are slipping with a 3.0GPA and 5 withdraws. I'm 10k in debt from student loans as well. Also, I'm older. That's a big deal.
My time is running out. It is inevitable that this fairy tale I live in will all come crashing down at some point if I don't do something. My only fallback is waiting tables, as I've had a few years experience doing that; but I'd sooner put a bullet through my head than do that until I die. I desperately want to pursue this poetry thing in some way, shape, or form. I've put at least 10000 hours into this, and that is a very conservative estimate.
Worse yet, there is no where to turn for help. My family would look at me as if I'm clinically insane if they knew this is how I was spending my time.
Any help, words of advice or wisdom... anything would help me right now.

i cant speak for othes but i think about death (and even suicide) quite a few times a day. almost as much as i think about sex or anything else.
on the other hand, i manage a small 'cult' like organization that revolves around reincarnation, so its hard not to think abotu death.

Whenever I go out to eat with family or friends unless they're really close friends, I always end up getting up and walking away to the bathroom to just stand there and fake using the bathroom to get away from the social interaction. It doesn't scare me its just so infuriating the kinds of things some people talk about. So empty and boring. Anyone else do similar things? How do you stop doing this?

Medical insurance
Sounds like you're either bored or depressed. You have to find something that interests you that you want to dedicate your life to. Most people get in relationships for this kind of thing. You're just making money you don't have any need for which feels empty. Personally I buy musical equipment but I still feel the way you do all the time and I'm married.
I went to oregon for vacation and for the first time I felt like I knew why I was working to make money. Try something like that.

STD tests don't rest for herpes. You have to ask for that specifically, and even then most clinics and GPs won't test for it.
If you were lucky enough you might have not caught it, and after all if you did it isnt the end of the world, you should get revenge anyways though

Bit of an unusual problem here. There's a girl I have known online for quite a while, and we get along really well. I'm crushing on her and it's possible she likes me too. Normally I would have asked her out by now.

I'm poor so I go to my local community college. They actually pay me to go.
I go based on affordability, not so much credibility or stature. At the end of the day, a college degree is a college degree. Employers look for more than just an immaculate GPA and what kind of college you went to.
I would be lying if I said going to an ivy league school or an accredited college wouldn't be more beneficial to your success, but like I also said, a degree is a degree.

Has anyone ever had surgery for TMD?
I have moderate TMD pain with the included grinding issues and facial asymmetry. It started about 3 years ago but only within the past6 months became an issue. I talked to a chiro about it and while we worked on it, he said surgery would pretty much be the only option.
It's a $5000+ procedure that won't be covered by my insurance. I was considering just saving up the money and going for it, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had experience with it.

I'm getting it next year but I have braces right now so Id on't have much to offer besides the fact that you will prbably have to pay for orthodontics too which your insurance is even less likely to cover.
The surgery itself is called orthognathic in my case, which I think is actually a broader term for most types of jaw surgery.

It sucks dude, but if your teeth got misaligned at all since you last had braces they will make you get them again. I was really against it at first but my parents offered to pay a good amount of it so I did it anyway.
I think for a lot of people they can't just do the surgery, if they are working anywhere around your teeth they have to prep your teeth for it with braces and then stabilize them after the surgery with them too.
For me it's a year with them, then the surgery, then another year...

Doing swab cultures can be really finicky. Herpes sores that are close to healing easily come up with false negative results. So they probably didn't get a good sample. Also, what you're describing doesn't really sound like a herpes outbreak exactly.

It came back as little sores, kinda looked more like flea bites as it's just a little circle of discoloration at the shaft near the head, and on the head itself.
They did a swab, but it wasn't on the sore, they did it inside the hole. And, I didn't think that was how you tested for herpes when I initially went in, but they assured me it was.
