I'm a high school senior aspiring to be a pilot for the military. They require you to have a degree before enlisting, so I am going to head to college first. What major is best for this kind of direction? I was thinking about Aeronautical Engineering, but I'm not sure if I'm smart enough fro that. What's a good fall-back major to get if I cant keep up with engineering? Also, how smart do you have to be to become a pilot?

My Girlfriend's friend tried (and failed) to kill himself because he sucks at what he does in school (trumpet performance). She is devastated af and she is also a little unstable herself. I am scared she might hurt herself. I use to be very suicidal so I know what this is like. Now I am on the other end and I don't know how to help. I've been on both sides of this coin. A good friend of mine was suicidal and made an attempt on his life. It's hard on the outside looking in its hard to find the right things to say. You need to give space as hard as it might sound. You can't smother her or she will think you don't trust her not to hurt herself. Stay by her side morally let her know your there for her and that if there's ever anything you can do ANYTHING all she has to do is ask. Two words: man up. Earning respect in this situation requires only giving zero fucks the entire time. Just keep telling yourself that literally nothing they think matters. Whatever else they remember about you, the most important impression they have to get is that you were comfortable and unfazed. You're just there to ski with your girlfriend.
