I'm actually a government (not US) policy analyst and I make $75k plus benefits and pension. I have a masters degree in history. That being said I know engineers who are doing well, they interned during school though.

i did a total meme degree (sociology) and got an advertising job in arizona within a month. made nearly 80k the first year and nearly 4 years later im a manager of a small team of 10 people and am making 150k a year plus getting bonuses and overtime.
