There's a party tonight at my college, and I thought it was my chance to meet some people, but I've been wrong once more.
I just went there in the hope of bumping into someone I knew remotely to help me get introduced to a bunch of people. I'm not retarded nor ugly in any way, a bit shy but I get over it with some help. But I didn't see any familiar face and went home after a (lonely) drink.
Sadly, the two friends I could party with sometimes moved away recently, now I'm stuck with a few loners I don't appreciate much and that I would never take to remotely social event.
Next time, how do I prepare for this ? If I was a socially gifted guy, what would I have done ? (ultimate goal is to take home a chick, but having a good time would be enough)
For starters, have more than one drink. Wander around the party, smile when somebody makes eye contact instead of looking away, regardless of male or female. If something noteworthy happens, comment on it to the person next to you.
Going solo to a party is somewhat difficult, but not impossible. Really, the biggest obstacle you have to overcome to socialize is yourself.

Good way to meet people is not party, but common activities.
Like, doing sport / art / some student association at your college.
You will meet guys and girls. Some douchebags, some ok. Just normally share the activity your are doing, and have few other words (the weather is like crazy, y'know?)
Then, say hi when you see them in the street, take 5 mins to talk about boring stuff if needed.

I'm female, 22. I turn 23 next month. I've never had a boyfriend, I'm getting a lame liberal arts degree because I've never really believed in myself. I know that I'm looking at external things that a lot of people will say don't really matter, but the older I get the more most people make me stressed out that external things and accomplishments are the ultimate indicator of whether or not you are worthwhile.
It's gross, I don't want to start thinking this way -- but I find myself constantly comparing myself to other people and I just get so unhappy. I guess I'm just stressed out and needed somewhere to vent.
I just feel lost, and like it's too late to do anything.

I don't know how to get over feeling inferior to every person. Like, whether it be looks, careers or fucking college degrees I feel like everyone has a one up on me. It's really annoying. I only really have soft smarts. I try to get involved with other people as much as I can, but it almost always ends up making me feel bad.
Like, last night I was at a music session, and I realized how much better everyone was in the group than me. I'm also interning at a local museum, and feel inferior to the comp sci and engineering majors. It's dumb, but I feel like this all the time. I can try my best to be better, but at the end of the day I feel like I just have so much to say and express but I'm not gifted and not as lucky as others.

No, it's not. It'll be tough. My bf has a way lower drive than me, but we make it work. It was tough in the beginning because I show my affection very physically and when he would say he wasn't in the mood several times in a row, it would make me feel like I was no longer exciting for him, or that he didn't feel as strongly for me as I did him. If your gf thinks along those lines, just reassure her every now and then that you love her and she is the most exciting thing to you. It'll help to have an open discussion about it. One of the things you could try is a date night, so she knows she can count on being intimate with you for sure one night of the week. And she needs to be willing to be patient and understanding, especially if date night can't happen for some reason. For a relationship to work, it requires both partners to be respectful and patient with each other. And, if either of you decide you need a person with drives more similar to your own More than you need each other, you both need to be prepared and willing to let the other go and move on. Where can I sell paintings online without paying for listings (no credit card). I have an empty checking account with Ally bank, and I'm getting four of my pieces displayed at a local art show/concert event tomorrow. If I manage to sell anything I can buy more canvas.

And don't worry about credit cards. You can get prepaid debit cards that work the same.
I know there's millions of pieces of artwork on Deviantart, BUT I don't have the slightest clue as to whether or not anyone makes any decent money there.

Gonna be moving to somewhere near NYC soon, which sucks since its not the best place according to crime statistics. Hi /adv/. I'm going to be finishing up university soon. After this summer I'll have roughly $20,000 sitting in the bank.
Then I have to decide what to do with my life. I know I can get a job in the tech industry, and make decent money. But I don't know if that's what I want.
I want to make video games. I've made a few and have made small amounts of money. I feel like I can be successful at it. I feel lie my next idea is good enough to be something successful, and I have the drive and skills to do it. But it might take a year or two.
My question is, should I ask my family if I can pay rent and live off that $20,000 and try to make my dream come true for a year or two, or should I become an adult and go get a tech industry job and an apartment in the big city and work on the game part time? I'm going to be past my mid twenties after this summer. I don't want to be a bum to my parents, and of course the odds are always against you when you try to be successful in any field of the entertainment business.
Any words of advice, suggestions, comments?
You won't be able to make video games on your own. You won't have all the necessary skills, no matter what your major is.
Even a couple years of professional experience will help your resume when it comes time to transition into games. There are lots of fresh graduates with big dreams and nothing to show for them. Studios don't want to gamble on them. Put in a couple years of tech work, keep your money and start looking into how to make the switch. Build up contacts and connections. Figure out what skills are most in demand. Get ahead of the market.

I'm looking for a specific breed of dog and I found 2 people willing to sell it to me. I trust one, but I found another ad on craigslist offering puppies for less than their usual price. One breeder is selling for 600 and the craigslist one is selling it for $150.
I've gotten in contact with both of them, and I don't know who to pick from. Craigslist seems too good to be true despite their ad saying "to good homes only". Would it be weird to ask them why its so cheap?
I haven't seen pics from the craigslist one but I'm planning on requesting pictures when I call them and asking about vaccinations.

No documentation = your dog is going to have major health problems for poor breeding practices. That's the danger with directed breeding. If even one or two bad animals get into the line, they match up recessive alleles and all of a sudden there's garbage genes running down the family tree.

I haven't posted here in years, but I am in desperate need of advice or I feel like I'll go insane. To anyone who replies, you have my immense gratitude- what may not seem like much to you could help me in ways you'll never know.
I have been with my girlfriend for 2 years now. We talk and see each other all the time, we're well integrated with each other's families and we've had some amazing times together. I love her. But on some things, we disagree- I feel like politically she has some differing views to me, but the biggest one is probably religion.
I have always been a devout Christian, and have regularly gone to church pretty much all my life. I am respectful to the beliefs of others and don't go 'pushing my dogma down anybody's throat'. If you are not religious and are reading this, please do not feel disinclined to help me because of it. My girlfriend, on the other hand, is not religious; she came to church with me once and didn't like it, and is very reluctant to go again. She believes that, in the long run, our religious differences don't matter.
Early this year, I met a girl- one of her acquaintances, who she sees relatively often but isn't really friends with. I chatted to her a little while and found out she's a Christian, too. Pretty soon after that I started going to her church, although she's only there every few weeks at best.
I feel like I've fallen massively for this girl. I've gotten to know her, slowly, and she's a shy girl. But she likes the same TV shows I like, has the same interests as me, and I just feel like we're compatible in such a big way. I have always felt something for this girl in a way I rarely ever do about girls, and it's snowballed to the point where now I think about her a lot, and look forward to seeing her- seeing her smile, or just look at me. I'm feeling such strong feelings for her, but I haven't acted on them. I don't condone cheating and it's something I don't think I'd ever do. Also, I do still feel like I love my girlfriend, who has no idea about how I feel.
But I've tried to be friendly to this other girl, to start conversations and chat to her- but SHE acts weird, too. It seems like she goes out of her way to avoid me a lot of the time, but then when I do talk to her we get on great. I catch her looking at me out of the corner of my eye sometimes, which makes me think maybe she likes me, but then she's short and terse when I try text her. If she liked me, I figure she'd want to keep text conversations going, or be up for talking to me. When we see each other outside church we get on really well but I can't invite her for a coffee, or dinner, or ever talk to her in person without many other people around because to ask her that would be crossing a line. She acts so strangely and I'm tearing myself apart wanting her but unable to tell her how I feel.
She often takes a little while to reply to my texts, but the other day I sent her one- a direct question- which she didn't reply to at all, even though she was active on our messaging platform. A day later I sent her another message saying she was a cool girl but I got the message, figuring I'd just stop. But she replied with a long-ish text about how she was sorry but has been busy with uni work the last couple weeks and making an excuse... if she wanted to leave it why would she have replied?

I've rambled on far too long and I doubt anyone will have read this far. If anyone has, though- do I tell this girl how I feel? Hi anon. Not religious here but I did go to a Catholic school all my life, and I get the stigma of being with a heathen can be difficult. First of all I don't think faith should affect the relationship as long as you're both respectful.
Did you fall for this otjer girl because she was Christian? Does she have other traits your gf does not? Because if it's only for faith, that's not a good reason to break up with someone.
