What kind of creatures, poisons or weapons have given you a severe case of nope?
The last thing I remember were something my current DM came up with, something like demonic tapeworm-arrows. They are used by a swamp tribe and are enchanted demonic worms. The enchantment turns them into weird looking black arrows that can be shot normally but when they breach skin and draw blood, the enchantment falls off. When this happens, the worm immediately starts digging deeper into its victims flesh until all of it is inside. Once burrowed completely under the skin it starts eating its victims organs and muscles until it dies, then proceeds to use the corpse as host for its young.
It also has barbs on his head and extends them when someone tries to rip it out before it goes in fully, so if you do it anyway you inflict pretty brutal wounds.
I remember them pretty well because we had encountered another tribe with leech arrows before which would only become an arm-long leech and wrap around and constrict the limb or torso hit while sucking and inflicting diseases. The best way to deal with them was treating them like a regular leech and burn them off after battle so we didn't give much of a fuck at first. Then our wizard had three of the little bastards in him. You imagine the panic yourself.
Another thing was a poison that made your bones slowly grow spikes that just pierce right through anything that might be in the way. Muscles, lungs, liver and eventually brain.
Pretty nasty ways to die. So what have you encountered?

Ah bone cancer, my old friend

Giant mosquitos like from Jumanji or FO4 tend to give me a case of the Nopes.

BBEG was a necromancer that figured out how to animate skeleton on a skeleton that was still inside a living thing.
PC starts screaming and tearing their own flesh from their bones.
Only way to get close enough to kill the necromancer was to get rid of our skeletons.
Cleric, previously a knight who was killed by their own skeleton and had to roll a new character, went through with the transformation to become a gelatinous cube hybrid.
Paladin became an Ilithid because they only have cartilage.
Sorcerer committed ritual suicide by dragon and became a ghost.
Would your run a setting based on a donut-shaped world?

Nice video. As to the question I'm not sure if an rpg campaign would properly reflect all the unique features of donut world. Some kind of novel or smth would do it better imo. But it's a very interesting idea for a setting. Espiecially if the more educated inhabitants were actually aware of the fact that their world is constantly at a brink of destruction and one gravvitional instability could easily collapse it.
if I wanted my players to constantly make arby and the chief jokes sure
would be very interesting scientifically, since you might be able to use it to sling shot things pretty fast through the centre of the taurus

So does 40k have a chainsaw/power whips yet? They already have all this other ridiculous shit so why not chain/power whips for killing xenos of the night?

Hey /TG/ do you play any background music when your playing Table Top games? If so what kind of music do you play?
>>45858056
I play a lot of techno and dubstep for my Shadowrun games, I don't have a set playlist though
I play a ton of music for our Rifts games. It's pretty cash. Roll20's jukebox function is better than it used to be but still kinda shiesty
>>45858228
Wow I realized that I didn't even answer the question.
Since Rifts is a sci-fi/fantasy game I get to use a ton of different music. Recently I played this cover by Timothy seals of Pyre Light from the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack during a travel sequence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRSoc-iyEWg
I also played the Gravelord Nito track from Dark Souls for a big monster fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS6imkjmYcg
Hi players! <3
The AdMech Discovers a dyson sphere that is a giant AI but its protected from humans with legions of men of iron..
The AdMech have a code for AI to become friendly but do not know it.
It asks them on first contact but they do not respond.
Neat idea. Unfortunately, The Imperium would resort to Exterminatus real fast, spoiling what could be an interesting plot hook. Such is 40k.

Oh, Shit. I forgot to mention this AI is a STC library of all human knowledge.

Has your character ever been polymorphed or used a polymorph school spell in an inventive way in a campaign?
>>45857940
I used it one time to survive without regular access to freshwater. My survival-skill-less Wizard was going on a solo adventure to explore the great unknown, that being a desert continent populated by various forms of reptilian and draconic life to the East. I managed to get there with the supplies I packed extradimensionally via Polymorph (into a Roc for max flying speed) only to find out that I was out of water. Since my plan was to mainly hug the coast anyways, I figured that all I had to do was figure out an efficient way to convert saltwater to freshwater. The obvious option would have been to just evaporate it or something.
Instead, I googled "do fish drink water," found out that fish do, indeed, drink water, then proceeded to Polymorph myself into a fish several hours every day to prevent dehydration.
>>45857940
Polymorphed an entire squad of the city guard to surprise and ambush some corrupt lord and his smuggling ring.
>>45858003
Polymorphed into what? Alter self them as people who should be there?
Let's get a 40K fashion thread going.
What kind of sexy clothing would people wear in the 41st millennium?
>>45857571
Literally anything. The Imperium is non-standardized and is not nailed down to any single culture. You'll have men and women wearing 15th Century noble italian clothing and guys wearing 3rd Millennium style jumpsuits on the next planet over.
so, what kind of clothing considered heretical?
>>45857624
Potentially every kind. Has anyone on your planet pissed off anyone recently?
So a year ago I finally got the chance to GM for my group. They all started out neutral and/or good so I let one play a paladin. I figured what's it matter, the guy never plays anyway since every time he misses a game his character is knocked out by something.
Well now my other players have gone evil to reach goals previously set, and the paladin wants to play again. I'd hate to retcon anything or force him to change characters, but once he wakes up he'll have no choice but to smite his evil friends or fall. One way or another some player/s will have a shitty time unless I can find a way to weasel him out of it.
Please help, /tg/. When my group gets pissed they quit playing for months. Other than this blip everyone's been seemingly having a great time.
My best idea so far has been to pass them through a settlement of what appear to be orcs. I'd try to nudge them to head to the tavern where the leader will turn out to be much less alcohol tolerant than you'd expect from a big ol' orc. He'd eventually drunkenly spill the beans that the town is mostly populated by doppelgangers, and that they stay in contact via marks like hobo code scratched on walls and fences across the continent. He slowly gathered them here to form a false orc settlement to attract real orcs. Once the town is full the fakies will be paid fairly and wander off, leaving the leader in power over a powerful civilization.
My hopes are for the players to use this info against him to force him to teach them the doppel code. Then they can find their meetup places and hire some to take their place, fooling the zealous paladin. His positive energy junk wouldn't hurt them either since they're LN.
Seeing that in print is making me realize how fragile and convoluted that plan is. Surely there's a better way.
>>45857261
Just tell him the parties gone evil whilst he's been gone so a Pally just ain't gonna gel with the group in it's current composition. You'll help him reroll and set him up so he can keep up.
Honestly if he isn't showing up you don't have to cater to him getting to keep his character.
>>45857261
Would he be open to becoming a blackguard?
Alternatively, you could gloss over the alignment of the party so long as he never catches them in their knavery.
Although how exactly you're managing to accomplish any kind of quest with an evil party other than the usual conquer the world and gain power thing is beyond me. You might be able to use that to glue the paladin into the party unless the party is really committed to the stereotypical forces of darkness shit where they're thirsting to torture orphans to death and drink the blood of innocents while raping and pillaging across the land.
Teaming up with a paladin could be a good way to gain wealth, power, etc.
Also, they could if absolutely needed, use items to mask their alignment.
Would speculative fiction be better if authors and fans read more than just sci-fi and fantasy all the time?

To be honest, Kharn should kick Abaddon's ass in a fight baring Chaos intervention bullshit. Kharn's killed waaaay more men than Abaddon has in personal combat, and personally broke two legions by himself. Not to mention he has a plasma pistol instead of a combi bolter.
Considering that Kharn joined up with Abaddon, we know how this ends.

We were dealing with a particularly divided set of opinions about who of Lord Hubolt's close aides to forge and alliance with:
1. Seek the dedication of Ser Mercer, a Knight of nearby and negligible property. What he lacks in land he makes up for with a lance.
Cha 10
2. Cozy up to Mofran the Sage, a priest of the old religion who advises Lord Hubolt closely and is said to be in his utmost confidences.
Cha 12
3. Try to get ourselves in with Captain Ludron, the foot commander. Admirable, serving the Hubolts all his life, his loyalty to the late Lord Hubolt keeps him at the successor's side now. He is the veteran of many campaigns, and a widower.
Cha 14

I'd get twitter working if you want anyone showing up; even though I use Reddit I'd still never see updates because Reddit is awful for live updates.
Also, quests set in OC universes tend to not do so well in general at the start unless the QM is really well known.
(I got two hours, if the quest gets good maybe it'll be still alive when I wake up a few hours later)
It has been over 200 years, but finally the last member of the Llorenal family has passed. Or rather that should be the case, if it wasn't for one who still remains. His name is Agoth, Agoth Llorenal, the final living member of the family, and with the recent death of his brother brought upon by untreated disease, he is left with nothing else but a now inherited sword. This sword has been in his family for generations, and now it is his...however this is not a treasure, but rather a plague.
The sword is a curse of which that has plagued his family since they first had it in their possession. Latches onto their wielders, unable to be rid of it, but rather have their souls ripped from their body into the hungry sword. Why would someone want such a thing Agoth doesn't understand, but that's a story that none of his elders would tell him for whatever reason. His great great grandfather when first used the sword, was branded by it, and so was all in his bloodline, and all to be in his bloodline. The entire family and successor's souls were up to forfeit to a soul whose thirst will never be quenched, unless the curse was broken.
When each member died, instead of a proper passing into a peaceful afterlife, they're instead subjected to eternal damnation within the heart of the sword...
Being the final surviving member, Argoth now with the sword in his possession chooses to go forth to break the curse within the sword itself, or let the family name die with him forever without a whisper.
There are no enemies here, except the sun itself as it bears down on Agoth through the dragging afternoon. Beads of sweat fall from his face, falling to the ground below only to be latched onto and sucked in by the thirsty soil. Agoth is quite thirsty as well from his trek, as sweat falls from his face which holds no facial hair. He takes a moment wipes it from his short black hair, and allows it to fall onto his dirty black boots. His pants were akin to old rags, and his shirt was made of old leather that was fit for a countryman as himself. He came from a family which weren’t exactly a rich family, but rather simple farmers who barely get by selling their crops…hard to believe such a family could even come across a cursed sword like they had.
Agoth is sparsely armed, with a dagger on his side, a few copper ringlets, and the cursed sword on his back in a rotten and aged wooden case that reeks of death…damned rats must’ve gotten inside, they always find a way into everything. His back was aching from carrying the sword, but he knows that musn’t touch it, or else his very soul may suck out of his own body if he is not careful…maybe someone in the nearby village knows about it? Being a countryman, Agoth knows very little about the village as he seldom goes there, but only to pick up plowing tools and food if a bad harvest has occurred among them. Once inside the village he looks and looks to see the few buildings and stalls he was used to seeing with the same old wood and the same old smell, such as Ratchey’s Groundin’ Tools! A place for farming tools with a picture of a plow for the illiterate, and Usil’s Farmhouse, a place for produce. They won’t be much help though, maybe he should ask around where to go? Maybe to a priest, or a local rogue wizard if he can find one.
>Go to…tavern? The Bleeding Taint
>Go to…armory? Jeril’s Rusty Hammers
>Go to...Ratchey’s Groundin’ Tools? His family knew yours well before his time.

Would you want to play a tabletop game with four clones of yourself? How do you think things would play out?
Assume the party itself is pretty balanced.
NOW NEITHER OF US WILL BE FOREVER GM
>>45855398
It would probably devolve into a anime-esque shitfest, the plot would most likely be unintentionally an exact copy of a Final Fantasy game but I would play along with it until the end and inevitably mechs and science fiction would become the main endgame for no reason. All of my characters would probably be depressing as hell.
Sounds better then any other RPG group I've been in :(
>>45855398
The game goes nowhere because I'm always the guy who makes "support characters", both mechanically and narratively... so the plot would pretty much go nowhere when none of me wana be the "main character".

Pretty much anything that isn't D&D should fit a great deal of your requirements, actually. Unless you're retarded and think GURPS is too complicated to understand or something.

Fallout P&P looks fairly rules-light.
>>45854375
Dude, doood, dude. STOP PLAYING DND. I'm not even saying that to shit post. Their rules are super convoluted and complicated. Play a less rigid, more dynamic system. Try GURPS, it's really really not that complicated, and it's fanbase is 1000% better on average than dnd players usually are. Just give it a shot, you can play a semi historically accurate fantasy game with it just using the basic rules, try it.
