The cool autumn wind softly moans and the orange leaves shudder on their barren branches. As the sun sets on the usually quiet suburbs, the sound of jovial children dressed in colorful costumes echoes through the houses bedecked in jack 'o lanterns. You see all this from your bedroom window as you brim with excitement at the promise of all the candy to be had.

Alright you slack jawed lily bellies and dunderheads! Where in the Hells has Nyle absconded off to? Seriously guildmates, Nyle hasn't been seen in nearly a week since the incident with the Nobles. I'll be the first to admit that I'm worried that our Guild Leadership is missing and or late and or to be presumed dead, but we can not wait around with all the antics and ongoings of this chaotic world. So with that out of the way, I call this weekly meeting of the Adventurers Guild to order.

Our first item of business will be the recent reports of missing raiders and bandits turning up pecked and scratched to the north east of the city, near the edges of the Forest of Sum-plase. It's likely that our recently freed sentient owlbears have moved to that area, so we'll need someone to look into it.

Secondly, the issues with the nobles last week seems to have narrowly blown over courtesy of the gifted never-emptying barrels of mead that a recently restored sorceress conjoured up. Please keep in mind that this hasn't improved relations and many Guild Members may find themselves in deep shite if they go anywhere near the property of any noble houses for the remainder of the winter.

Does anyone else have any other business?

Which has been successfully traded out for our heads not being put up on any pointy sticks. Not that I am worried about my own well being, but the recent mind flogging and soul smashing of the few who were caught red handed and identified are likely going to be in a less than agreeable position.

I am pleased to have at least hid the third one from everybody else and they dirty clutches then. I do have an item of business that I'd like to address though.

I am deeply apologetic for the earthquakes that have arisen over the last few evenings. I wont go into detail because I am certain a few of you are already well familiar as to why and how, courtesy of the noises coming from the shared Chambers of Czari and I. On her behalf, I also apologize.

You are Charlie Dennet. Student, Magician and, assuming you honor your estranged master's wishes, would be hero.

Truth be told, you aren't much of a hero. Given the things you've done and the people you've worked with, you're fairly certain that you are actually closer to a D-List Supervillain. But all the same, Rose Constantine looks up at you with wide eyes, innocent of any wrongdoing and expectant. She truly believes that not only are you going to agree, she expects you to swoop out of the sky like Superman, put the badguys on their butts and carry her off to safety.

It's all in her eyes and it only takes a moment of her gaze meeting yours for you to grasp that; not that nine year olds are that difficult to read.

"John...John Constantine is your father?"
"Yep! And he's the best daddy in the world"

She says it with conviction and you almost wince, remembering when you honestly thought something along those lines about John. He was never your father, but sometimes it felt like he was.

So what's the score...is saving a nine-year old going to be on the itinerary just yet?

>>
>>45747611

Any party that doesn't pull them through is a group of That Guys who are conciously and deliberately discarding a plot hook that the GM has clearly made for them. Maybe the players are rollplay murderhobos who just want to move to the next combat encounter. Maybe they're paranoid hypersensitive entitled little shits who think any time the DM introduces something into the world it's "railroading". Maybe they're just stupid. Whatever their retarded reasons, they're That Guy and need to die.

There may be situational justifications for pushing the legs in, like the same thing happened before and the legs turned out to be a lure used by an extradimensional predator fishing for mortals, like how angler fish dangle their light above their mouths. Apart from exceptional circumstances that though, not pulling the person out is That Guy behaviour. If you think otherwise, be sure to kill yourself before replying to me.

There's a bright flash (GREAT way to start having glasses again) as Paula, still looking injured, lurches towards you and Wes, raising the Staff of Katri in her one remaining hand. "If... This is where my story ends, I'll leave the epilogue... To you..." She says as she collapses.

There's a... Moment of confused silence between the five of you still standing.

Ellen and Zoe shoot each other questioning looks.

Leigh clutches her Miracle Sword's hilt, as though expecting something more.

The moment is tense, until your own voice, through a much more confident and assertive filter at your side, speaks out as its source swipes your Mend staff and approaches Paula's form. "Come on, your highness," he says, "you're a grown woman and a respected Advocate. Don't be so dramatic over a stabbing," Wes says, not hesitating to heal her and help her up... Albeit pulling away her Wampyr staff and Fist of the Managarm tome before she gets any more bright violent ideas.

"I'm... Not dead..?" Paula says, definitely sounding a bit shocked.

Chuckling and patting her shoulder affectionately, Wes lifts his neck up, showing off his neck-scar. "Hey, I've had worse and made it out, right?"

So I've been planning on doing a low fantasy campaign for a while. Now when i say low fantasy i don't just mean low point buy system i mean that magic is a rare and likely feared.

From what i can tell there are 3 ways to deal with this.
1: allow all magic: This does nothing but let the the caster players run wild and become more overpowered than they already are.

2: Disallow all: Have to where players cannot cast spells. This mega nerf hammer really limits the amount of classes and options. Leaving stats like int and wis at 10 if not lower.

3: DM's discretion: This tends to start conflicts and has the chance to heavily swing into 1 or 2's category.

4: and the one i'm currently doing, Custom Spell list.
This requires a lot of time and effort to make a list of all the spells.

So what i'm asking is what are your thought and suggestions?

>>
Words of Power is pretty good. Extremely restricted already and plays pretty much exactly like the normal; prepare a word, expend it. Screws a few classes, like alchemist and summoner, though

Play a different game.

Really dude.
If you don't have any suggestions or recommendation then please keep your useless comment to yourself.

Why is the forgotten realms so popular what does it have that greyhawk lacks other then a dietie with divine rank above 20.

It's an alright place to visit but I would not want to spend an entire campaign there

Multiple novels released in proper time among with cRPG's. Many people become familiar with D&D through computer games, then they started lurking for more knowledge about system/universes/mechanics so actually they have been flooded with Forgotten Realms content accidentaly.

A) Humanoid
B) Cervid
C) Insectoid
D) Small alteration of current form
E) Large alteration of current form

what should I know as someone wanting to get involved with events where competitive/professional REL is present? I know you have to put certain cards in super specific spots, can't have even slightly-damaged sleeves, and can't take back something after you do it. I just feel like I'm missing something though.
>>
>>45746548
>I know you have to put certain cards in super specific spots
Untrue. There's some requirements of board setup if you end up on Coverage at a GP or Pro Tour, but beyond that you can set your board up however you want as long as it's clear and reasonable.

>Can't have even slightly-damaged sleeves
A bit of an exaggeration. You can't have MARKED sleeves, and damaged sleeves are considered marked. If you just pick up a new pack of sleeves the day before the event, you'll be fine.

>Can't take back something after you do it
Correct. If you make a legal, but stupid play, you can't take it back (unless your opponent is SUPER nice, but don't count on it)

Honestly, the vast majority of Comp REL is just "Play tightly and correctly". Things that are fixed with a finger-wag at FNM can be penalized more harshly at a PPTQ, and where the judge has a lot of leeway to 'fix' things at Regular REL, that capacity is diminished at Competitive. If you miss a trigger at Regular, the judge'll let you have it if it's within a reasonable timeframe; at Competitive, the timeframe is shorter, and the decision of whether or not you get your trigger is up to the opponent, not the judge.

So, yeah. The two biggest pieces of advice I can give you are "Tighten up your technical play" and "if you're unsure about absolutely anything at all, call a Judge".

You look on as Sasuke and his double exchange blows, swords darting back and forth with a speed and precision achievable only thanks to the use of the sharingan. Sasuke is keeping up for now, but by the look on his face he seems a bit out of it. While they duel, you take note of Madara hovering above. Given his position and ghostly appearance, you're not sure if he can actually be attacked at all.

"I don't know what you are, but if you're trying to get me to stop, it's no use!" the other Sasuke tells your friend. "As long as you wear those headbands, you're my enemies!"

As you approach, the two Sasukes break off. The one in purple looks in your direction, and you get ready to dodge, an idea of what's coming next.

"I don't care who you are, it's all the same!" he shouts, before unleashing his attack. You see his left eye start to bleed. "Amaterasu!"

You duck out of the way of the black flames just in time, finding cover nearby. The flames follow you, but while you're in hiding, Sasuke puts them out with his Kagutsuchi. The two Sasukes then go back to their duel, but you're sure the other one is still keeping his eye out for you. You'll have to be careful about how you approach this battle.

You enter the city and have a procession following you to the palace as you enter Hoogstrad. The people, much better looking than when you freed them a few days ago, gather around and cheer you and your guard as you dismount and ascend the steps, Ralero in tow. With her voice so recently in your mind, you can only imagine what is waiting for you inside the Palace. Your Royal Guard push the door open and allow you to walk in first.

The palace's foyer, the seat to be held by the Count, or in this case Countess, at the other side of the great hall. Activity is bustling in this room as various attendants and persons of interests run back and forth. In the middle of the room is Vella, dressed in the same blue garments as the night she interrupted you in La Faresse. However, she doesn't seem to take notice of you as she quickly writes on page after page, handing out orders and giving commands. She is flanked by several large guards wearing the crest of Essland on their shields and tunics. You step forward and one of your guards loudly thunders, "All hail, the King of Vastov, King Valorian!"

All activity stops and all eyes turn to face you as you step across the stone floor, flanked by your guards. As you pass everyone drops to their knees and lower their head. You eventually stand before Vella, who rises from her seat and cursties. She turns her head up and smiles, locking eyes with you. "Hail, sire. I hope that you've found my work acceptable?"

What's a really good rules-light system that has a bit of everything? Dungeon World is too dungeoncrawley, I'm trying to find something that's got a bit of investigation, a bit of social stuff, a bit of combat rules... a bit of everything, but not too much of anything. Something really flexible and lightweight. Does such a magical wondrous system exist?
