Fat as fuck guy with a gf here. There are 2 reasons for this. The first one is that you depend on others for your happiness, you litterally take the position of the girl by this in hoping for a prince to come by and save you (in your case it is a girl above your league). The second one is that you don't offer anything, you are not interesting and come across as unsecure and needy. You only think about what you can gain from a gf, but she also wants to gain things like validation and excitment out of a relationship, things you can not offer.

My phone's battery is swelling up. I can see light reflecting off the screen showing how the battery has pushed the screen into a convex shape.
