Mom: Chronically depressed and very introverted, hasn't had a bf since my dad left her 15 years ago and we don't speak much. I talk much more with my dad, since he's more intelligent and the discussions are always interesting. My mom just kinda gave up and I blame partially myself for this.

With my mom it is fine. My dad abused me as a kid and was overall just a cunt, he kept trying to force a bond between me and him when I was a teenager because I just cut off all ties with him and he could tell I pretty much hated him. Still do not keep in contact with him today.

Do you think plants have some form of consciousness?
I was just pulling some thyme of my plant to put in my food and I started thinking about it. We only ascribe animals consciousness because they react human-like to things like pain, hunger, affection etc. But plants don't seem to react, but maybe it's just because we don't understand their communication, or they're too slow or whatever else.
I'm not a vegetarian but I sometimes feel sorry for the animals getting abused to bring me eggs, milk and steak. I never feel bad for the tomato plants or trees or whatever. Except today when i was picking thyme.
What do you think?
There are some religious sects that don't eat entire plants because of this, or root vegetables I think.
Not eating fruit is stupid, though, because fruit is literally designed to be eaten so that you'll shit out the seeds later (supposedly somewhere on the ground, but obviously humans have sewer systems) and allow the plant to reproduce in a new location.

Consciousness appears to at least require a brain. I am not going to make a statement whether consciousness comes from the brain or if the brain only revives your consciousness, that is really up to your belief, but no matter what the brain is required for consciousness.
