There's two solutions I propose.
1 is to give him one more chance. Tell him he has a chance to prove that he won't gamble, and make this arrangement: You will keep an eye on his accounts and if he goes back and spends money gambling then you take control of the family's finances and savings.
This would be the most effective way to prevent it but it could also make him go to ground and hide his habit by using cash. If he hides it, it will be harder to manage.

2 is to give him a gambling budget, essentially an allowance. He has X amount of money to...

Suicide is and always has been a selfish act, but it's even more selfish for "loved ones" to assume I should just "handle this" and continue on when all I feel is pain. Every day. Non stop.

Go home and spend time with them, don't explode and just act normal. Afterwards write a paper about them and send it out everywhere. How you brother loves playing with your underwear, etc. Then send it out to everyone asking for advise on a study your trying to get published on the behavior of the "typical" family

You wanna teach them a lesson?

Two ideas:

- Go home, COMPLETELY blank anything they say or do to antagonize you. Act like it never even happened. They'll try harder and harder, but if you don't let them win, they'll get bored.

- Don't see them at Christmas. If your mother loves you, nothing will hurt her more.
