Do you think it is inappropriate to ask the same person out twice if they said no the first time?
A bit of context, the girl I asked out liked another guy when I asked her out so obviously she said no. Month or so onward, she's moved on from him after realising that she doesn't like him as much as she thought. Pretty sure she doesn't like someone else as of now, but is it just time for me to move on too, or is it alright to try again after one no?

I'm currently a freshman in college working on a Polisci degree. However, I have extensive programming skills and knowledge and could probably get hired as an entry level programmer without any degree. I'm good at polisci, though, too, and have won several awards in polisci related competitions.
I don't really want to spend my life as a code monkey. I'm just too intelligent and my social skills are far too great for me to waste away in that manner. So do I stick with polisci, or should I go for the money with programming? Maybe try a startup or something and utilize my people skills along with the programming skills?

Last monday I received a mail where I was told I was selected to perform a technical test next monday. So, I basically had seven days to study all of my stuff. The topics?
>Calculus I and II (differential and integral calculus)
>Probability
>Elementary differential equations
>Linear algebra
>Classic real analysis
On monday I tried to schedule what I'd study each day. That got thrown out of the window - I overextended probability for three days, especially because it was lengthy and I couldn't wrap my head around some subjects (for the record I did study all of that, but I haven't really used most of these since I passed the classes, which I did several years ago).
I'm basically trying to review everything, and friday is almost over and I don't know what to do. I'm down with probability and calculus, but I feel this is a huge task for me to undertake and I really want to enter this workplace. I'm reading differential equations and trying to wrap all the formulas and such and I'm afraid I will never be able to remember everything.
What can I do in such cases? Any advice before next monday?

Sounds like you don't have much of a chance, but you'll learn better by doing than by reading. Find practice problems wherever you can (not hard to find, especially on uni math dept websites) and fumble your way through them.

I have an amazing girlfriend. She's beautiful and wants the same things out of life as I do. We're currently sophomores in college. I cant seem to find anything that I really have an interest in at the school we're going to. I'd really like to do Architecture, but it doesn't offer it. Nor do I have enough money to pay for a school or to relocate to one that does. I've always wanted to join the military, and I thought about joining the Air Force. But thats 4 years of my life gone, and then 4 more for school. I'm afraid being away from her might make her distant and fall for someone else or something. Yknow? I couldn't be there for her. She assures me she'll love me forever, no matter what. And I believe her. But I've also never had a long term relationship before. I'm conflicted about what to do honestly. Do I just get a basic business degree but stay with her here? Or do I join the military and go for a career I'm actually interested in? When it comes down to it, I'd rather have her in my life than anything else. But I know I'll have to support her when we're older and want to be prepared for that.

Do what you want to do in life. If you're meant to stay together, you'll both find ways of making it work. Tell her what you'd like to do, ask her what she needs to be happy in that situation and make the effort to give her what she needs. If she loves you then she'd want you to do what makes you happy and support you through it.

You can't really learn how to be witty. It requires being quick on your feet with whatever subject material is being thrown at you in conversation. Watching some stand-up vids on youtube may help.
so im currently in community college majoring in lib arts: math and sci. planning to transfer iinto a 4 year and change major to something more specific.
However, i ruled out new media tech: web design bc i always thought learning to code was something you could do on your own, and seemed like a waste of money. But recently I talked to a friend who majors in this and asked him about it and he admitted it was true, however, he says the program provides really good internship programs (he's going to intern for google this summer) and connections that one probably wouldn't come by on their own.

Posted this on /mu/ earlier and got no responses, so maybe you guys can help me out. I've got two saxophones, neither in optimal condition. One is a Bundy probably made in the 90s or so, that I got at a flea market. It's playable, but one of the biggest pads on it needs replaced, and one of the key springs is corroded away. The other one was my great grandfather's, and was made by Conn-Selmer around 1918-1920. It needs almost completely repadded, and the piece that sticks up from the body to move the register key is broken off. Are they worth repairing, and how much would this cost? Pic related.
