buy a house and you'll probably pay less on the mortgage than you'd pay in rent. BUT, you're gonna have maintenance costs and property taxes. so watch out for that.
also, if you don't have sufficient cash flow and this money is a one time thing, the house is a poor financial choice. rent while you use the money to make money and create stable cash flow, then buy a house.

Depends on what your budget is and how much you want your house to cost. Houses are expensive, and unless you have inherited enough to pay for all of it, youre gonna have to borrow money to pay off your mortgage.
Both renting and paying off a mortgage cost you money monthly, imo it depends on how long you plan on staying there. If you're young and you haven't settled yet, rent. If you're more mature and you're planning on staying in your city for over a decade and you have a secure job...

I live in New Jersey. Near Philadelphia. I pay $900 a month to live in an apartment. I hate my job and doctors, and smoke weed and browse /b/ in my free time. I have an opportunity to go to Columbus Ohio and get an apartment for $500 a month. I have a job waiting out there if I want it. I'm 26. I hate where I live now. I'd say that unless you're married, don't go. It's very much a college town imo. Cool if you're moving there to take advantage of the low cost of living and have a family to keep you company and whatnot, but the social scene is largely dominated by the 18-23 year old OSU crowd (it's a really common complaint among pretty much all non-college aged adults in the city). I've come to the conclusion that I hate my current study, I've had eight subjects of which only one interested me a bit so I have decided to stop my study.

Depends on the subject... find a good source that's not hard to learn from. There's free things like Khan Academy, other youtube channels, websites etc. You can also torrent any paid books/online courses with a good $5 VPN.
It's not about the amount of material you get your hands on, it's more about your ability to work through each of the basic concepts, understanding them and making a note of it for later.

I'm mostly afraid that the important basic knowledge I learnt in highschool has sunk away after a year of studying a totally different subject (law).
