When I was a teenager mom took me to the doctor and after looking at my exams she predicted my height would be at most 1.68m. I'll never forget the way my mother reacted. At the time I didn't quite understand what the big deal was, my height never bothered me. What followed were swimming classes, volleyball classes to "stretch me out". Or "to squeeze every bit of height possible". I hated the swimming classes because they were in the evening and the water was always cold, it was so uncomfortable. "But son, it's so you can grow more. We have to make the best out of your situation. You don't want to be short do you?" Needless to say, these exercises did jack shit.
It's pretty fascinating considering she's a 1.52m woman.

I'm 5ft 10" and I still wish I were taller. Even at this height, which is supposed to be the average, I still feel like a midget. It's probably worse because I live in Australia, where the schoolgirls are reaching 6ft and upwards.
